I can still feel the tendrils of panic and fear when I'm in public

I recently moved to the USA for school and work purposes. I've been dealing with social anxiety and depression since my early teens and have tried and been prescribed several different medications that either didn't work or became habit forming. I've been trying to use meditation, diet, and Taiji to help bring down my anxiety and depression levels and this has helped somewhat but at times I can still feel the tendrils of panic and fear when I'm in public, especially being so far from family and friends.

Hi AG

I understand.  I spent 3 years in the late 1970's as a prison officer. As I strolled through supermarkets I'd glance at people wondering if I knew them from that hell hole.

I still dont look much at people as I stroll around my small country town. So it is usually others that say "are you ignoring me". But for me it isnt such a big issue.

The most important thing to remember is to remain realistic. Ask yourself "am I being realistic?  Dont allow unrealistic thoughts to take over.

Relaxation excercises are great. Try them.

How about a second diagnosis. It worked for me. Then if different to your original diagnosis you would be on different medication. Worth a try.

Good luck
