Hi i'm John, this is the 1st time in 50yrs I have ever had a panic attack in the bedroom. Briefly my partner had been away for a few weeks and when we went to bed and became intimate for some reason this time I had a panic attack so strong that it left me so exhausted and feeling worthless, the next night i was determined to get through this however not as anxious it still shut me down again. I have never had a problem with intimacy however this one has really knocked me for a six, my partner says i'm over thinking it and she's right, it just feels so overwhelming i'm not sure where to turn to for help?

Hi Calminator,

Welcome to the community here. I can imagine it may have taken you a while to work out how you were going to write this up. Panic attacks are horrid at the best of times, let alone in the bedroom.

It may help you to contact Mensline Australia on 1300 78 99 78, look up Sexual Help Line as well, they may have some suggestions for you.

Maybe taking things a little slower with your partner might work well for you both. Have a snuggle on the couch. Shower together. Give each other a massage, try sex else where other than the bedroom where the memory will be strongest for you.

The more I over think a problem, the worse it becomes. Your partner may well be right, you are wanting this time to be the best ever, maybe if you find ways to calm down before hand you will manage okay.

Wishing you all the best with this one!

Cheers from Mrs. D.
