Hey guys 22 no previous drug history
March 21st i smoked marijuana ( two strains) non synthetic i think. 2 days later it triggered me off into a anxiety attack because for those next few days i didn't feel right which led me to breaking down.
Next day i'm out of it. Lost, can't think straight, scared, and thought i've lost my mind. I was suffering from depression and had anxiety prior to this but had both of these like most people.
I went to local GP they put me on medication. For a month i was on them but everyday same symptoms. Lost, couldn't think , struggled to concentrate on anything without feeling lost, things that mattered like girlfriend or friends or anything was a blur. Just trying to survive day by day.
Once the 4 weeks hit i broke down and went to the Emergency so i can see a phychiatrist as i knew there is more to this. After waiting they see me and rule out that i'm phycotic but said i may have had drug induced phycosis and a small case of depersonalisation. They put me on multiple different medications. I continued this for 1 week and half and same symptoms. Phychiatrist saw me and saw no improvement so he decided to put me on a different type yet again.
i have now been on this new one for exactly 2 weeks now. Still lost, confused , can't think straight , but now have really bad headaches all day, memory is awful and really foggy the thoughts of the previous day or current day is like a blur. Also noticed my right thumb tremors now and my body tends to tremor randomly when i yawn and i'm exhausted all day.
Just curious to know what steps i should take going forward. My father had paranoid schizophrenia and grandfather was taking Lithium for Bipolar. My mother takes anti depressants. So tempted to just go to a ward and have them assess me properly as i am giving up. Just trying to survive hour by hour but it's so scary to live like this.

Hi Krozgee
Welcome to Beyond Blue forums. You sound quite scared as you're not sure what's happening to you. Sometimes, anxiety and depression can do that to you. The medication can take anywhere from 2-4 weeks, but has been know to take up to 6 weeks. I have both anxiety and depression. When I first started on meds it took 6 weeks. So maybe give it just a little longer.
Does your doctor or the hospital's psychiatrist know your family history? If you told them this as part of your original assessment, they should have taken this into consideration.
Hope you don't mind me asking you questions? There's no pressure for you to answer. It just helps.
When you say you had anxiety and depression previously to 21 March, where you seeing a doctor or therapist regularly? I ask that because what you are describing to me in some ways sounds like anxiety. However, I am not a health professional so this is not a diagnosis. You really need to talk with a health professional.
There are some basic things you can do to bring down your anxiety levels - do a search in the Beyond Blue search field for - Tips for managing anxiety
While you might find using marijuana pleasurable at other times, you may find that you probably shouldn't use it anymore. It can have significant impact on your mental health. Do a search on Beyond Blue for - Drugs, Alcohol and Mental Health
Please let us know how you get on. I'm sure there are others on the forums who have experience similar situations to you that will respond to your post.
Kind regards
