Dear Annonymoussss

Hello and welcome. You question is quite general. I suggest you look at the BB homepage, click on anxiety and read the information there. There is also a quick checklist that may help you. If you have already answered other checklists and the indication is that you may have a moderate to high anxiety, then I suggest you see your GP.

We can answer many questionnaires or checklists but they are not meant to be substitute for a diagnosis by a medical expert who is looking at you specifically, rather than a general overview. If you are feeling uncomfortable in any situation and find this concern is distressing I do urge you to get an expert opinion.

No one on these BB forums can give you a definite answer. We can tell you our experiences and our diagnoses, but this does not necessarily apply to you. What is distressing to you may barely affect another person or vice versa.

Make a long appointment to see your GP and get an informed opinion. Please continue to write in here as this is a good place to talk about your feelings and concerns.

Hi Anonymoussss,

I made an appointment with a GP after suspecting something wasn't quite right with me, and reading up on the symptoms of anxiety. She actually gave me a quiz to do, and we talked and went from there. From there I started seeing a psychologist.

I agree with Mary, make a double appointment, and they can take you through it, just be sure to be honest with your doctor. Sounds as though, regardless of a quiz result, you are feeling a bit off and want to find out how to feel better. I felt so much better after seeing my GP, like I was taking back control over my unhelpful thoughts so would definitely recommend it.

Good luck

Hi annonymoussss,

Anxiety has many, many symptoms which honestly affect people differently... best way to tell is, as everyone has suggested, see your GP and then possibly a psychologist, they will help with it all, first 6 are government funded up to a certain amount as well which should help.

If you are able to elaborate on what you are feeling we may be able to help more with general advice.

My best for you,

Jay

Hello annonymoussss,

This is a good place to be anonymous. I know from my own experience that it is hard to share especially if anxiousness steps in with all the arguments for an against sharing. I think the best question for testing is if your wellbeing is being negatively impacted. It does not matter if you are ticking all the boxes on an anxiety quiz if you are satisfied with your life. No one else can really measure that for you. If your not doing the things you want to do and you are not happy with your relationships then that is the best question to ask.

A doctor does not have to be your first stop. If you have the means you can book a consultation with a psychologist yourself.

cheers,

Pixie.
