Dizziness?

Hi,

I don't know the "correct" word for this feeling, but I was wondering if anyone would be able to identify and/or relate.  Every once in a while (but more frequently lately) I've been getting dizzy.  It happens when I am sitting down usually.  Its like the world spins for a second, and my head physically drifts to the side or in a circle, like I am dizzy.  Its a strong dizzy too.  Almost like my head isn't connected anymore and I can't see.  It fixes itself in a few seconds.

I have a pretty strong suspicion its due to anxiety.  I recently had a full blood workup because of being completely exhausted for weeks and it came back relatively normal.  But in the past few weeks my tension has been getting worse, with daily headaches and shoulder tightness and pain, especially when waking up.  Which is why I think the dizziness is also related to anxiety/stress.  But I wanted some confirmation on that if anyone knew.

Thanks.

Hi askingquestions,

I am afraid I can help you with diagnosis.  But I can say that, yes, I also experience it, particularly if I am in crowded spaces.  I have not mentioned it to my psyches, so not sure how they would read it.

I also would be interested in hearing what others may have to say.

Thanks

Hi askingquestions,

I used to get what you are describing as aura associated with migraine headaches, also moments of blurred vision, the aura usually came before an episode. Definitely get this checked out by a GP I reckon.

Low blood pressure?

I get physical aches across my shoulders and neck when I am anxious, feel fatigued most of the time - yes, I think the GP, but also, what works for me is an electric blanky

Thanks guys.

I see my regular psychiatrist (who is a former GP) on Tuesday.  So maybe I will bring it up.  I haven't noticed it attached to a headache, but headaches are just a constant, so I can't tell.

But the electric blanket, yes.  But my favorite at the moment is a hot water bottle.  Sleep with it against my chest every night!  It brings me so much comfort.

dear Askignquestions, what you are saying is certainly somethingthat is a concern, and I just wonder whether the blood test also included your thyroid level, because if this is abnormal then you will have problems, but as I'm no doctor I wouldn't like to diagnose the symptoms.

There are facts you can find on the net, however not all of these could happen to you, plus the problems you are having could be a possible indication of a thyroid that needs attention.

This is only a suggestion, but poor eye sight, lack of food/water when taking your medication which could happen because you have anxiety.  Geoff.

Hi, anxiety can cause dizziness. I suffered 6mths straight with it before i was diagnosed. I still get it most days, but not as bad. Mine sounds different to what you are describing. I'm just dizzy in the head (lol), what i mean is every thing around me is normal, not moving or spinning. Anxiety can also cause vision problems. I find that happens when i'm dizzy.

YES! Go for comfort, always!

Hot water bottles, bread and butter pudding, a pot of tea, ugg boots, a purry cat, chocolate ummmm, soppy movies, candles, music by Joan Armatrading or whoever you like, socks, tv series box sets

Hi,

I have been suffering froma similar thing recently along with other symptoms that would last for a few hours. I have had all my bloods done, ecg xrays, you name it and all have come up fine. The next step for me is to see if I am suffering from depression and the doc is almost certain I am suffering from anxiety. The dizziness happens when sitting on the couch etc but usually ends up in a panic attack. I hope you find some answers soon 🙂

Hi,

i have been experiencing dizziness, vertigo etc since august last year. I had been diagnosed with labrythitis then menieres disease, i had act scan done and everything was completely clear. Turned out i was 1 in 1000 people having a reaction to the anti-depressant that i am on. Not trying to diagnose or anything like that just make sure you bring it up with your doctor because i only found out 2 weeks ago that it was a reaction.
