Hi Natalie, congratulations on your diagnosis and well done for reaching out to these forums. As tough as it is to be officially diagnosed with something, it means you can now get some serious professional help dealing with your condition. Accessing peer support like these forums means you will never be without someone who understands what you are going through. Welcome.

As far as I understand it from a dictionary search, angst just means a general anxiety about the state of the world - i.e. something without a specific cause. GAD is the medical diagnosis, Angst just means you may not have one, single subject you are anxious about but are anxious about things in general.

Never be afraid to check with your medical team if you are uncertain what they are actually meaning. Often medical people speak in a world of their own and it makes no sense to the rest of us. Never be afraid to call them out and ask them to explain what they mean by 'angst'. Otherwise, I'd just assume it means that your doctor couldn't pinpoint a single trigger for your anxiety (like fear of heights, spiders etc) and it extends across the board.
