Hi skye
how are you aside from this?
is it only when you're almost asleep? Sometimes I think I can hear my wee ones calling out to me, then when I check on them they are sound asleep and my husband says they haven't made a sound.
are you having a bad day?

Hello Skye.
The short answer is “No ” I haven’t.
It’s a well-known phenomenon that people experience all
sorts of weird and wonderful things as a fall asleep. People see dead relatives
come back and tell them all sorts of different things, they feel the pressure
of someone holding them down, often attributed to aliens, and all sorts of
weird and wonderful things. It is well documented and you don’t have to be
crazy to experience it. It’s all quite normal. The people that it happens to
though, unless they know about this phenomenon, think they have really
experienced a visitation of some type. I suspect this is all you had.
When you think about it though, if the brain developed over
millions of years where some sections were used for a while and then became
redundant because of evolution and replaced by different systems, it’s no
wonder it works in a bit of a haphazard way at times. The eyes for example have
blood vessels that run on top of our optic nerves. The optic nerve bundle runs
out of the centre of the retina which causes a black spot in your vision. Our
brain compensates for this so we don’t notice it but it’s a crazy way to design
a system. There is no wonder that occasionally we have a glitch. I suspect if
we came with a user manual these would be explained in the troubleshooting
section. “If you hear your name or if there is an alien pressing down on your
bed before you go to sleep please ignore this as it is just a software glitch. Have
a good day. Sorry for the inconvenience. We are working on a software patch to
fix this.”
I don’t think this
has anything to do with your anxiety or your mental state I think this is just
part of being a human.
I’ve had the feeling of the bed falling out from under me
happened several times as I full asleep. It makes you jump, literally. It seems
so real but I know it isn’t.
If you can just get on with the day and discuss it with your
psychologist tomorrow.
I hope this helps. Welcome to the human race.

Thank you for your replies!
Mummybee, my day is ok! I did have strong pain killers for a migraine today! So I'm a wee bit tired! my day has improved though after lunch with a good friend!
Dwwmills, your replies are always welcome and helpful! Yes I beleive that was probably all it was, I've experienced tge falling thing too. I did read it was a fairly common thing to happen! I will just mention it to my psycologist tomorrow , more for reassurance I think!

I got on to my psycologist, she still said I would put 1 million dollars on you not having a psycotic illness but she said we can never give guarantee! Which I guess is what I wanted! I just am telling myself that's it you're going crazy!
my husband told me tonight he has about given up! I just want to be better!

Skye think about your psych.
Think about all the training she has been through. Think about the years of experience.
Trust that when she says you do not have a psycotic illness she knows what she is talking about.
Next time you think you hear something, think about this. Before you jump to your reaction of thinking you're hearing things, take a breathe and think about what you KNOW to be true.
Have you got a plan? Can you include your husband in your improvement? Can he go on walks with you?
Can he help you with your thoughts by doing a mindfulness exercise with you?
Maybe getting him involved and letting him truly see how much you are trying and how much effort you are putting in will help.

Dwwmills, I really appreciate all your advice!
I just don't know how to stop thinking about it! Now I'm convinced I'll talk myself into hearing more voices and they'll be terrible and I'll be a threat to my family, and my husband will leave me and all the professionals are wrong! See my obbsessive thinking!
Then I read Ocd increases your chance of scizophrenia!
My god my brain doesn't stop, I've resigned I'm going insane. How ridiculous!

Skye you're ok.
I was thinking, how often do you actually think you hear a voice vs how often you spend thinking about thinking you hear a voice? I bet you will find that you might think you hear something every now and then, but you think about hearing something a lot more.
The amount of times you actually hear something is probably disproportionately low compared to what you think it is.
When do you next see your psychologist?

In two weeks.
Maybe 2-3 times ever! 2 in the last week or so but both times was half asleep, deep down I know I'm irrational!
I've had a few sleepless nights with a sick bubba, and my anxiety flares then.
I just read too much and absolutely convince myself I have all of them!
Thanks chicken wings for being supportive!
Ive got to stop seeking reassurance too, because it only provides temporary relief!
Take care, have a good day!
