Hi everyone, This section of the Beyond Blue Forums is a little different to the others, as you may have noticed in looking at the discussions. Elsewhere on the Forums, we discuss some pretty heavy topics: mental health issues, thoughts of suicide, trauma, abuse, relationship breakdowns. Here is the place to come to get away from that and have a bit of fun. Distraction can be an important tool to draw on if you're finding yourself overwhelmed by distressing thoughts and feelings. As this is a section for respite from heavier topics, we will relocate any discussions about heavier topics to a more suitable section of the Forums. Happy posting! Beyond Blue

hello. i just began year 12, and i am already feeling so very burnt out! i am highly suspected to have autism (and i have diagnosed depression and anxiety), and thus i do not operate in adhesion to the structure of the education system. i am quite a good student, i get As and Bs in most classes, however i fall behind in terms of class work/homework. last year, i got adequate grades without stressing too terribly over completing all of my school work, as there wasn’t an overwhelming abundance. however, i have tried to start this year with doing all of my work ahead of time, and dedicating two days a week to complete study after school. yet, between work, school, and my struggling mental health, i have already fallen behind so much, as i have burnt myself out already. i feel so stupid and worthless. even though many of my friends share my same struggles, i particularly feel so ashamed, as i appoint a lot of my self worth to my performance in school. i really want to know how not to feel so burnt out without sacrificing my grades, as both are quite vital in ensuring i feel ok. i have stressed and cried myself into a headache just thinking about school. i truly just want to not be so invested, as whilst it is beneficial, my mental health is concurrently being jeopardised. i suppose i just wanted to get this off of my chest, i apologise if it sounds dumb or redundant. thank you

Blended family, mum wants to leave our family and never come back again. Step dad doesn’t cook or care about the two children. Currently studying at a private school with 38000 fee each year, I always get A grades but mum is very sensitive and sentimental, some tiny things can cause her anxiety. We are going back to New Zealand in term holiday and she wants to send me back there with my biological father who abandoned me when I was 5. Please I need help, I don’t know. Let me start by saying over a year ago my life changed, then changed me and not for the better. Both of my parents passed within 5 weeks of one another. I moved across the country 4 days after my mother passed. Then I turned into a mess. Husband and I have been together since we were 20, so 25yrs and we have one child. I have become paranoid, checking both his work and personal phone every night when he is asleep. Looking for something, and I found it. A girl he indirectly works with. Nothing scandalous, yet I looked her up. Everywhere! She is blonde, thin and kind of pretty. She has brought my husband coffee from another office. Then I deep dived. Looked into her more. She has fake nose and further down if you get my drift. I then one night looked at his work ph google searches and up she pops with a provocative pic on LinkedIn. Just the one pic. I confronted him, so he knew I knew. He said I was jealous. Yet, somehow, after all of these years, I have NEVER questioned him or snooped until my parents passing. It’s almost as though something chemical changed in my brain. (He had an explanation for the search, which seems legitimate.) Anyway, I watch his every move. I watch him on ‘find my phone’ even though I know he is at work then straight home to me and our child. He went away overnight and I cried, and that was to another state 6hrs away back to back flights. Why? I never was like this. I have also found I hover over my son a little too much. Is this all related to my parents passing? I just feel angry all of the time and put on a good show when need be.

ODE TO PERSISTENCE Can you hear it in the distance?Past the willows and the treesThrough the rain and misty valleysOn the tide of aqua seas?Like a camel in the desert,You go searching for a drink,But that shimmer’s just a glimmer...Into dust, your hopes do sink.Still, you climb that lofty mountain,Up amongst the rocky cropsYour legs are tired and weary,And the struggle never stops. Then you float along the oceanLife-raft bursting at the seams. But the drifting lasts forever,And it never meets your dreams. How much longer can you take it?Will you ever find the key?Your internal voice reminds you,There’s a place you need to be.You try and make your own luck,As the time keeps ticking by,Because you know your dream is worthySo, you give it one more try! With a soul in search of wisdomYou’re committed to the truth,And soon you start to realise...That all you need is proof!Like a dancer chasing answers –waltzing proudly down the roadThen you ask yourself the question -What's the moral of this ode?And a light comes shining brightlyAs it’s whispered in your ear -Keep on pushing forward friend...Success is very near.
