Anyone had to spend days alone without anyone to talk to?

Hi all, apart from here and a brief visit to church last night (to make it feel Christmassy and to just be with people) I've had day after day for weeks now with nobody at all to talk to. This time of year especially it's really depressing. Old friends that live far away are gradually losing contact with me - I ring them but they don't ring me. I understand they're busy with their live elsewhere but still it's hard when you're lonely. I'm going to a Christmas Eve service at the local church tomorrow night to at least be with people for a little while... but otherwise all day I'm alone, just me and the dog. Sometimes I strike up a conversation on BB but then the other person disappears and that's the end of that...

How are people meant to cope with prolonged periods of social isolation? I read, I watch DVDs, normally I'd go for long walks with the dog but thick smoke from bushfires and intense hot weather have stopped that. I go to a café alone sometimes. Any ideas/help?

Hi Grandy,

You are doing a great job at the store! I'm so glad you stayed on there! How is Mrs Nsc these days? Do you think it helps that you now go to the store two days per week and have more of a break from her?

I don't think I is a very friendly town although it is very pretty and I like the cool climate. It's very busy but so is here. Do you miss having a few more shops in your town?

Did you get the rolling thunderstorms all day today that we got here! I think the grass has grown a foot in a few days! It's so green here, the parks are beautiful. It's supposed to get quite cold next week..

I got a couple of lovely shirts at the big op shop in O town. The op shops are wonderful for saving money!

I've just written a long email to a friend in coastal town and had a long chat on the phone with an old friend in the city who is a children's doctor, so it's been a busy day here.

Thank you Hanna for your kind words...I’m finding 2 days serving a lot of hard work mentally....I wish I could have stayed out back sorting...,Silly me thought I would challenge myself and do some exposure therapy but now I’m stuck doing the 2 days in the shop...,I’m hoping later on that my anxiety will become more accepting of what I’ve regrettably done...

The rolling thunderstorms can last a few hours...scared but calming at the same time...

It’s nice to hear that you had a long chat with an old friend of yours from the city...I hope it was a loverly conversation and made you feel good, same as writing a long email to your coastal friend...friends are so very important to have...

Today is so cold...the sun is taking a rest today, so I’m thinking when it’s well rested it will be back full of bright sunshine with some healing warmth....

I hope you can enjoy today, even as cold as it is...Im laying on the lounge under a doona with my fur girls and watch tv...I need to learn some motivational techniques to get me doing things through the days...

I do sometimes wish we had more shops in town...but then again with more shops comes more people traffic which = high anxiety for me which then = me isolating....so I’m happy enough with just the essential shops that the town consist of...

Another thunderstorm rolling in, gosh what an interesting spring we are having!

I hope you can solve the problem with the store Grandy as it's such a good thing for you as long as you're not being too stressed.

I've been busy lately! Lots happening and not enough time. Had a cuppa today to relax at our favourite Cafe and they now bring out a little container of ice cream just for Sam which is sweet but I have to take it off him as it would flare up his tummy problems.

I've managed to clean the kitchen and bathroom, vacuum part of the house and remake the bed, phew, that's it for me today! Two hours of music practice yesterday.

Antivaccination rally in town today and interesting they carry an American flag which has nothing to do with us!

I'm pooped and going to listen to a utube talk.

Paws, how is Woofa today? I hope you don't have more trouble getting him out of the car!!!

Wow you've made me tired just reading everything you got done... I hope you aren't trying to make it tidy for the OT visit as that might work against you getting help...

How lovely of the cafe.. do you eat his icecream?...

I think the protesters having the American flag just shows how most of the people protesting are caught up in conspiracy theory & other groups that originate in the US.... I don't know if you watch Planet America on the ABC, but the last episode they were talking about how there is now a drug that (given by needle) can help lessen the affects of covid & the anti vaxxers/right wing mob are pushing it... despite them not knowing what is in it... it being basically a vaccine by another name...

My phone connection is playing up with the weather today... I managed to make my appointment at the Dr, but I couldn't get a signal to ring the vet... so that will be first thing to do tomorrow.

The wind is coming straight off the south pole... it was so strong last night neither Woofa nor I got any good sleep with everything banging about... thankfully we have missed the heavy rain causing problems elsewhere... just short bursts of mainly light rain... how are you doing with the weather there?.. any flooding?

I like to keep the house neat and tidy, it stresses me when it's not. It's nothing to do with an OT coming and I have no idea when that will be. I just feel better when the house is clean and ordered.

I definitely don't eat Sam's ice-cream I throw it out!

Strange weather here today, sunny but windy and chilly. The river has been flooded but it's flooding several times this year.

I'm going to have a cuppa and get going. Hope all is well there.

It's OK but yes it sounded like a serious question and I thought it was very odd! No worries. 🙂

I have had water in the front yard for a while and I thought it was run off from all the rain but it's not getting any better and I've realised that it's a water leak, now I'll probably get a huge water bill and I'll have to ring for a plumber tomorrow.

Three major gas leaks and now the water.

I'll write another complaint to the local Mp who does nothing.

Hope the OT writes a really bad report when she eventually comes.

I'm off to bed!

Just dropping in to say Hello.

Hanna, regarding the water leak in our garden, if it is from your place, you may receive a high water bill. I was told once that in some areas, if you have an unexpectedly high water bill, you can contact the company supplying the water and they may be able to offer you a reduced price due to an "incident/accident with the water supply.

Not sure if that will work for you, it is worth a try!

It is nice the cafe offers dogs ice-cream, might be best for them to check first if it is okay for the dog to have it. A bit like cafes placing a little biscuit or a marshmallow on the spoon when serving up drinks for people with Coeliac disease. If you are highly reactive to gluten, you would need a different spoon.

Our weather has been all over the place this spring also. Freezing cold and raining one day, strong hot winds and dust storms the next!

Hello Hanna and everyone...

Hanna I had a water leak a few years back and I rang my local council...They surprised me by replacing my water metre because that was the cause of the leak....Maybe try ringing your local council and see how you go....They should send someone to look at the leak....without charge..

I tried my 2 dogs on ice cream and they turned away from it..I am pleased that little Sam likes ice cream...it’s good for his bones and will cool him off on hot days....
