Anyone had to spend days alone without anyone to talk to?

Hi all, apart from here and a brief visit to church last night (to make it feel Christmassy and to just be with people) I've had day after day for weeks now with nobody at all to talk to. This time of year especially it's really depressing. Old friends that live far away are gradually losing contact with me - I ring them but they don't ring me. I understand they're busy with their live elsewhere but still it's hard when you're lonely. I'm going to a Christmas Eve service at the local church tomorrow night to at least be with people for a little while... but otherwise all day I'm alone, just me and the dog. Sometimes I strike up a conversation on BB but then the other person disappears and that's the end of that...
How are people meant to cope with prolonged periods of social isolation? I read, I watch DVDs, normally I'd go for long walks with the dog but thick smoke from bushfires and intense hot weather have stopped that. I go to a café alone sometimes. Any ideas/help?

Hi Grandy and everyone
Thanks for your kind words. I rang today and the occupational therapist will have a telehralth appointment with me next week before actually coming to the house.
I'm waiting for my car now and Sam and I are at an outdoor Cafe and the nice staff have been giving Sam treats!
I'm thinking of O town as it's pretty but by reputation not very friendly. I have looked at the units there and you'd want to get a sunny one as some get no sunshine at all.
I wanted to go to the library today but it's closed for cleaning as they had a positive covid case last Sunday. I was there on the Saturday so that was close! They'd only just reopened after the lockdown.
My friend G has some problems I won't talk about here but it means some people are very nasty to him. People are so intolerant of people who are a bit different. We had a lovely chat yesterday, he's a kind and gentle soul and used to live where my grandmother lived long ago on the coast which is amazing. It's not a well known place. So that was nice.
I hope my car is OK then I can go and pay the insurance company for the insurance!
Hugs 🙂💗🐕💐

Hi paws
Thanks for that. Yes making a decision about a place in one hour is difficult. It's one of the common complaints about public housing, that the pressure causes people to make rushed decisions.
I managed to put together a pedestal fan today and with the loss of depth perception doing up screws etc is really tricky. It won't make the bedroom cool but it moves the air around. The windows here don't seem to let in much air and I often find it stifling at night.
I weakened tonight and broke my diet and had fish and chips from a shop for dinner! Got the car Rego done, greenslip paid. Had coffee at a street Cafe this morning. It's nice to have things open again and people around.
Telehealth with OT Tuesday. Sam goes to groomer in O town Monday.
I enjoyed the cold drizzly weather today. Sam and I both slept badly last night so I hope tonight is better.
Has your new neighbour been around again? How are your relatives in the city?
Pats to lovely Woofa! 🙂❤️🐕💞🌿🐀🐈🦢☔

Hello Dear Hanna, Paws and everyone...🤗.
Yesterday it rained all day here..heavy at times and I really felt relaxed...I don’t let my fur girls out in the rain, because they are mud magnets and they bring it all inside, so today they are enjoying the sunshine outside...
Good luck with your Telehealth appointment next week...I really hope so much that it will bring a positive outcome for you...
I
The last time I went to O was over 4 years ago...Silly anxiety won’t let me go...I remember I used to like the different shops their....In town W, their are no clothes shops, shoe shops, bargain shops..just Woolworths, Coles, a couple of butchers and the necessary shops for living....No shops to just browse around...
I think I remember you saying that G is struggling a lot with major anxiety and finds it hard to have conversations with people...I am pleased that G can see the gentle soul you are and is learning to trust you...it might take a long while before he can have a coffee with you...I am sure you are helping him...
I love fish and chips...but it’s to far to travel to get them and by the time I get them home...they will be a cold soggy mess..It’s okay if you had a break from eating more healthy foods...I think something different every so often is okay to eat....I have been snacking on Peri Peri Arnott thin crisps...I love the heat from chillies...
We are still having positive COVID cases in town...A couple in Coles on Friday...I haven’t been out since Tuesday...I might get a test after work on Tuesday...
Well done putting the pedestal fan together...and I’m pleased it helped little Sam get a good sleep last night...I also hope it helps you as well....This time last year it was much hotter then it is now...I hope we get a mild and wet summer this year like the experts have forecasted...
Enjoy your day today everyone and this evening as well...
Thinking of you all with kindness...hugs everyone and fur babies...🧸🤗🤗.
Grandy..

Hi Grandy and Deebi and everyone
It was so nice to see town all opened up yesterday - it was so crowded with people here from the city. Most of the cafes have put up outdoor seating which is safer and nicer in the lovely weather.
We had ice cream and Sam eats the crunchy cone! Had a long chat with an old friend up the coast where I used to live who is feeling very lonely and wishes I was there, but she is a difficult lady at times!
Ran into the other music teacher who has been stuck in the mountains for months due to the lockdowns and it's so nice to see the kids back in school uniform!
The library is open today and tomorrow Sam gets groomed in O town, but I'm a bit worried about driving in the thunderstorms..
The parks here are looking lovely and green.
Sam loves the fan going at night and he's been sleeping like a baby - it's the white noise that helps!
Hugs 😊🐦☔🌿💗🐮

Hello Hanna, wave to everyone,
I'm sorry to hear about your friend needing an op... I hope it went well for her
It sounds like your area is putting lockdown behind it & getting back into being out & about in a big way... lucky for the business's the weather should be getting better for outdoor seating for them...
Lucky Mr Sam getting the ice cream's cone... I'm sure after your trip today he is enjoying finally being clipped... did he score another cone today?
I will keep everything crossed for your telehealth appointment with the OT tomorrow.
Hugs

Hi paws and everyone
My telephone consult with the OT took over 2 hours this afternoon I was dying for a cuppa! They will send an OT out to inspect the house I don't know when yet.
Very hot today. I'm about to walk Sam with a friend so will continue later on.

Did you manage to mow your lawn Paws? How are you going? How's the new nice neighbour?
No more ice creams for us! Had a nice walk with a friend I don't see often. My other friend in hospital up north is in ICU for a few days poor thing.
Hugs 🌼🌿💮🐦🌻

Hello Hanna,
2 hours!!!! that is a very long consult... I'm not surprised you needed a cuppa after that 🙂... it would have been nice if they could have given you a definite time for when they will come out, so that you didn't have this waiting without an end time yet again.
How lovely having your friend to join you on your walk... does she have a dog as well? I'm hoping it was shady where you were walking if it was hot there today... lovely & cool here.
The young neighbour has been here a couple of years on the property to my north... but he has now bought the paddock to my south & west... so he now owns all the land surrounding my place... he has started spraying the blackberries on his land (I had been getting the guy who came to mow my paddock to spray mine) & along the fence lines as he said he would... I'm looking forward to the cows going in my paddock.
Hugs

Hi paws and everyone
Crikey what thunderstorms and heavy rain we have had all day! It was impossible to go out in the morning. It's so green here it looks like Ireland. Gorgeous! 🌳
It's been a busy afternoon. The OT is organising for someone to go over the house and I understand it may take a few days to organise someone. I'll check next week if I haven't heard back. I've known my friend for a long time, she's in a bad relationship and yes, it was too hot for me when we went walking, she doesn't seem to feel it.
A great friend from coastal town has moved to an inland town up north because she likes the cold and has a partner there, I know the town and it's been interesting to chat with her today.
That neighbour might want to buy your house if you ever want to sell it Paws...
I'm cold and need dinner so.hugs from me here! 😊🌼🌻🐦🌿
