Hi everyone, mb20lover here. I wasn't sure where to post this.

It's been a while since I was on the forums, so I just wanted to make a post saying that I'm back. However, I'll try my best to limit my time, comments, etc on here.

I won't bother tagging anyone, and I'll try to keep this as my only open thread that I have created.

I've missed everyone I've spoken to on here, and I hope to talk to some new people. I have been using my offline supports - my Psychiatrist, GP, Parent support of course, and a Social Worker. I'm in the process of finding a Psychologist but I'm having no luck.

Anyway, I just wanted to pop in and say hello, and also I hope I haven't upset anyone on the forums or anything like that because nothing was intentional, so I deeply apologise.

An update on me, I recently turned 21, can't do much with COVID though, it's a hard year for everyone unfortunately.

I also have a milestone, an achievement, I've been seeing my Psychiatrist for a year which is the longest I've stayed with a therapist. And I also finally have a GP I feel comfortable with. I'm on different meds that seem to be working a little but I still of course have my moments, but these meds I've been on the longest for out of any of the ones I've tried.

Other than that, please don't feel pressured to comment anyone, although it would be nice to connect with some people, old or new, but like I said that's okay. I just wanted to check in.

If you've read this and made it this far, thank you. Stay safe and take care everyone, as much as possible with the unfortunate COVID circumstances.

Thinking of all the Beyond Blue Mods & Users. I've missed everyone.

Hello Tayla...

I read on another thread that you’re lonely..so I thought I would pop in and say hello...and see how you’re feeling..

I can relate to you’re problems finding a psychologist..I live in a small village in the central west of NSW..and how such a hard time finding one..I ended up with one on the MHCP..only lasted a few visits, until she didn’t want to see me again...(complicated),...

My Dr. ended up filling out a referral for me with Victims Services and I was accepted their..It’s in the bigger town..around 70 kilometres away..the trip is worth it as she is very good and we seem to connect well...Maybe ask your Dr. if she can find one for you..that bulk bills...I have found out that the ones that don’t bulk bill..will sometimes do it for a Dr who requests it for her patient..maybe it’s worth a try to ask her....

Thats so not fair that mindspot won’t allow you to do the PTSD course...That’s another thing that your Dr. May be able to do for you...Is to ring mindspot up and request that you do the course because it will be beneficial for you...Just my thoughts...

Do you have any pets, hobbies or things you like to do to keep your mind busy?...

Sending you my kindest and most caring Wishing lovely Tayla...

Grandy...

Hey Tayla,

Wow, that sounds awful.

Do you mind if I clarify some stuff with you?

Are you on a mental health care plan? And I'm wondering how come you're doing the run around for a psychologist- doesn't your GP write out a referral and send you along to someone?

Another question- hope you don't mind- is there a headspace close, in your town, or the next town? Because I'm thinking, if you're feeling discriminated against, perhaps cos of your age? Then there is definitely steps to take, but you probably need support to do it, if you're not well atm. It would be really great if you could find an advocate. Someone to help you through the process, and assist you in getting your needs met. You have the right to adequate mental health care, no matter where you live or how old you are.

Perhaps there's a community services organisation nearby that could assist you, give you some basic counselling and help you navigate the minefield, so to speak. Headspace is a good first choice, but there's others if they haven't been a good fit. Search "community services organisations" in your area. or ask someone. Whoever you ring, just keep asking. You want a counsellor who can assist you to get help.

One more question... have you got parents or siblings or anyone?

Feel free to not answer anything that's not comfortable for you.

Thanks for talking with me Tayla,

Hugs

Hey Grandy, nice to hear from you.

Yes I am very lonely, thank you for coming to say hello. It's nice to see you around. I'm sorry you had a bad experience with a Psychologist & they didn't want to see you, but I'm glad you've found a good one. I wonder if that place you mentioned runs in Victoria too, I'll have to do a Google search to check.

My GP & Psychiatrist have asked places who bulk bill, or places who don't, if they will, but it's always a no. As for the Mindspot course, I could try explaining that to them and see what they can do.

I have a Dog, and as for hobbies, I don't really have any. I just go for a few walks daily, listen to music, that's about all. Sometimes I colour in or play word search or colour by numbers app on my iPad. & go on these forums of course. Other than that, nothing really.

Hey Jstar.

I'm fine answering those questions, it's ok. Thanks for asking me that though.

I always go on MHCPs, yes. My GP has referred me to someone local to him but they're not taking new patients. I'm not sure if he knows anyone else, I can ask him again when I see him in December. My Psychiatrist is in Sydney so doesn't know my area well. Triage refuse to help & have been extremely rude everytime & my Psychiatrist referred me there. I have no idea why they're like that.

I did go to Headspace for a group & Psychiatrist & was made fun of by everyone so it was very traumatic. I saw Wellways but they couldn't help me, & I applied for the NDIS but was told they don't fund what I want and what my Psychiatrist wants (social stuff, jobs, etc). But I'm on the DSP at least so thats one good thing, not trying to brag.

No I don't have siblings, just my parents.

Hugs back.

Hi Tayla.

Oh my goodness! That's awful that you went to a support group and someone made fun of you! That is truly shocking! Its lucky there's karma, so we don't have to resort to taking vengeance ourselves....

I'm glad that you have a dog, and you go for walks. A few a day! Your dog must love you! I walk my dog every second day, in a good week, he has to make do with that. And he gets upset and does those puppy dog eyes when we go to the beach without him. So sad! It makes me feel guilty, but I still go, lol!

I don't want to ask you any more questions, but if you feel like talking about things, I'm here to listen. I'd love to know more about your life, family, what growing up was like for you. Anything you want 🙂

Hugs

Thanks Jstar. That's nice that you have a Dog. I don't mind you asking questions.

Yes, the Psychologist, Manager & Group Members made fun of my Mental Illnesses, I complained & the Manager lost her job.

Good on you! You sound very strong, and a person who's very aware of your rights.

Are your parents supportive?

I love my dog. He's a white labrador. He used to get into trouble for digging up the lawn- my husband has a thing for lawns- but now hes a bit older and more chilled.

Thank you, and how cute.

Yes they are, they try their best

Hi

what's your dog like?

J*

Hey again Jstar.

He's cute, 11 or 12 in human years I think
