Hi Everybody
This is only the basic dictionary definition...
"Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention on the present. When you're mindful, you observe your thoughts and feelings from a distance without judging them good or bad. Instead of letting your life pass you by, mindfulness means living in the moment without judgement"
- Please be as blunt you wish....If you dont have an idea about mindfulness it would be great if you could let us know
- If mindfulness hasnt worked/or is too broad a concept for you it would great if you can let us know your thoughts too
- If mindfulness has helped you, please help others to help themselves by posting how you have embraced this mindset
It goes without saying that the forums are a judgement free zone and I really hope that everyone can jump in and have their say

Hi Jstsr,
Im not sure if laws of attraction is the same as mindfulness..
I think that with laws of attraction..if you are in a happy mood..you attract happiness from people or things around you...
Mindfulness ..I think is concentrating fully on what your physically doing at the time your doing it...
I am still learning about mindfulness...I think it’s an on going learning topic...
Just my thoughts only..

Hi all.
This may sound weird but I try to do mindfulness in the shower, a cold shower for example. So focus on the smell of the soap/body wash/body scrub, whatever you use, shampoo & conditioner, etc. and focus on the cold water. Having a warm shower with shower steamers (usually essential oils inside) is also relaxing.
And when I use my wax melts (like candles but cheaper and you use them in a warmer), I focus on the smells whether they're melted or not. I have a good friend who makes them who I buy from and she has pictures on her labels, so I try to focus on those too, because they're so well made and adorable.
When I feel like colouring in, I focus on what colours to colour certain parts of the picture in. Things like that.
I know that's probably not mindfulness, but oh well

Hi Tayla,
what you described in your previous post is a form of mindfulness. Informal.
The alternative is that you could be worrying about the day/night ahead or ....
Rather you let yourself get into the moment/experience of the shower, with the feel of the water, sight, smell of soap etc.

Dear Quirky....when you experience it, you will know. Best when it just "happens"to you and you are not "striving for it". I've described several of my mindfulness experiences on here...e.g. sitting in the backyard and noticed the wind chimes above my head (they had been there for years and years) this time I really "focussed" on them...looking at their gentle movements and then some more vigorous ones when the wind blew a little stronger....
I really saw for the first time their beautiful colour..how it changed from lighter to darker and in between depending which way they swayed. I sat looking up at them, properly "Looking" at them for as long as I wanted....(there are no rules here)...nothing else was in my mind at all....except these wind chimes....that's mindfulness! (nothing to do with meditation) love Moon S

I have experienced watching a lizard sitting on the log in them shine, watching raindrops fall from a leaf and smelling frangipanis.

Moonstruck,
What do you see about mindfulness that is so different to meditation? Essentially they seem similar to me. One can meditate upon something, wind chimes, or your breath entering your body, which induces mindfulness, as opposed to mindlessness.
How do you see it?
