Can you think of 5 things you noticed or observed in nature today, using all your senses?
I was wondering if this would be a beneficial exercise to help us focus on something else instead of painful emotions, troubled thoughts, over thinking, anxiety feelings and the darkness of that alone place.
As well as to see that there really is beauty all around us....

Sitting out back. 5 things I saw today.
I can feel the cool wind on my bare arms.
I can hear the birds don't know what kind but they are interrupting my thoughts atm... a good thing.
I am touching a flower that had fallen off its plant..it feels soft and velvety.
I can see dark clouds forming a bit like I'm feeling atm.
I can smell the hint of rain in those dark clouds.

You are welcome monkey... and yeah I am okay too. And yes being ruled by emotions is not always a good thing. So I am finding out.
Hugs

Ah that is all great Karen. Except for you possibly going through some dark clouds. Hope you see some sunshine soon. Physical sunshine and sunshine inside your heart.

Can hear. A wide range of different sounds birds, wind, bees, dogs barking.
Can feel..my feet getting wet as the wet grass soaks through my slippers
Am touching..ok...the tin on the shed...
Am tasting.. A hot cup of tea..

I ventured outside and sat on my verandah today. I liked this exercise. I was present. Only for a little while, but I stopped thinking of what has happened, of what could and should happen, and of what needs to be done. At the moment I have a sinking heavy sensation that seems to accompany my low feelings and makes me want to curl up. I am supposed to be hearing from my psychologist today to arrange my next appointment and for some reason these days become a thing of both anticipation and dread. But, I managed to just "be" for a few moments.
And I saw the grevillea shrub where bees and native birds are abundant at the moment.
I caught some fragrances on the air. It smelt like native trees.
I noticed that the wisteria that climbs up the front of the verandah is on the verge of coming into bloom.
I felt the cool air breeze blow through and the warmth of the sun filtering through the trees.
I could hear a lot of different bird calls. One was definitely wattle birds, but I couldn't recognise the others.

Thanks for creating this thread, Shelley 🙂
Sorry, I can’t quite think of 5 things in nature that moved me- I hope that’s okay- but I still wanted to join in.
I haven’t been really wanting to talk about myself lately and figured talking about nature might be a gentle way to ease back into things. I hope you don’t mind, Shell...
Anyway, sometimes when I feel down I buy bouquets of flowers to fill my room.
Earlier this week, I bought this bouquet of a very fragrant pale pink flower. No idea what it’s called but the fragrance vaguely reminds me of one of the notes of my perfumes. Anyway, the flowers are now sitting in an old jar in my room.
A nice and easy way to bring nature indoors 🙂

Mmm that is a great idea dear Pepper. Those pink flowers sound real pretty. I wonder what they are? I feel like buying some to put in a jar too.
And I do not mind either

Hi kitty,
I am glad you could just pause even for a little bit and notice some beauty around you. Mmm I really like wistera reminds me of grapes, bunches of grapes. Maybe it's the way the flowers sort of hang...
Today I appreciated the hail .....
1... I heard the tinny sound as it belted down on the outside roof.
2.... I watched it fall from the sky and sort of ping of the dry dirt. Then watched it cover the grass.
3.... I felt large drops of the rain on my hand, arm and face.
4.... I tasted fresh cobs of corn
4....I smelt the rain

Hi Shell,
Thanks for the gentle message 🙂
Sorry, I have no idea what they are called. The flowers are pale pink and very fragrant, which probably doesn’t help narrow it down....
Speaking of nature, I would like to talk about animals, specifically a dog.
I was enjoying a coffee early this morning at a cafe. Someone’s gorgeous dog- no idea what breed- was waiting outside. I chose a table right next to the dog and felt an instant calm wash over me as soon as I sat down.
I almost cried because it was the first time that I felt a sense of peace in a very long time. It was his presence; something so special about dogs.
So here is to dogs. One of nature’s gifts to the world.
Pepper xoxo
