Anyone had to spend days alone without anyone to talk to?

Hi all, apart from here and a brief visit to church last night (to make it feel Christmassy and to just be with people) I've had day after day for weeks now with nobody at all to talk to. This time of year especially it's really depressing. Old friends that live far away are gradually losing contact with me - I ring them but they don't ring me. I understand they're busy with their live elsewhere but still it's hard when you're lonely. I'm going to a Christmas Eve service at the local church tomorrow night to at least be with people for a little while... but otherwise all day I'm alone, just me and the dog. Sometimes I strike up a conversation on BB but then the other person disappears and that's the end of that...
How are people meant to cope with prolonged periods of social isolation? I read, I watch DVDs, normally I'd go for long walks with the dog but thick smoke from bushfires and intense hot weather have stopped that. I go to a café alone sometimes. Any ideas/help?

Hello Hanna, wave to everyone,
How are you lass?.. Have you had any luck getting an OT out... or getting any of the help you need?... With the holiday season racing towards us I worry you won't be able to get anything done in what is left of this year...
I hope your friend in hospital is doing better... I will be ringing my relative's son this coming week to try to arrange a time to visit.
Yes I found the sudden hot days very hard to take too... thankfully it is much cooler here today... Seeing all the flooding on the news I hope your yard hasn't been running like a river again...
Hugs & pats

Hello Hanna, Paws, Dools and everyone...🤗.
I think summer has finally arrived in the central west..it’s been hot now for a few days..if the forecast app is right, we are getting a full week of rain...
No decorations in my main shopping town..(W)...Not allowed to decorate our shop...It really doesn’t feel like Christmas all Hanna...I agree..
I am staying home for Christmas 🎄...Since I will be on my own again..I will more likely be here trying to spread some Christmas cheer...
I hope your friend in hospital is doing okay..
Town W really has to do something about the flooding...the river has once again put the cemetery under water....This is the 3rd time Since I’ve been living here...l
Just popped in quickly to say hello and hope that you and little Sam are okay and staying as cool as you can..
My love, care and hugs Hanna and everyone..
Grandy..

Hi Hanna, Paws, Grandy and All,
Awoke again to a delightfully cool morning of about 10 degrees and had a walk.
Towns near us decorate the street with huge red ribbons for Christmas, someone has been and done that again this year. There are a few Christmas decorations in different stores. I'm not out shopping much now the S.A. Government has opened the borders to Covid cases from interstate and overseas!
I'm working Christmas Day so that is me sorted. My in-laws are having a Christmas lunch so I won't be seeing them this year. At least my husband will have somewhere to go while I am working Christmas Day.
We are allowed to wear Christmas shirts all of December at work so I bought a couple from a men's store, they were so much cheaper than ones in a women's fashion store. Last years t-shirts have shrunk in the wardrobe! Ha.Ha.
Cheers to you all from Dools

Hi Grandy
Thank you for your message. I'm glad you're finished with the store for a while now and you can relax. I hope your back where you had the cyst removed isn't hurting too much.
It's a hot summer which Sam and I don't like at all. I've been taking a break from being on BB much and will probably only be on for short times with breaks..
Christmas will be quiet which is OK. I'm still wearing a mask anywhere busy. Don't forget to book in for your booster shot!
Town is so crowded with visitors it's almost impossible to park anywhere or get into the shops. I'll be happier when Xmas is over and some of them go home!!!
Otherwise we are doing our usual things. I have to go out and buy Sam a new cool mat later, as it's Thursday I can go in the early evening which is good!
Do you have any plans for Christmas?
Sam has swims in the river and we go to the dog park now, as they have one for small dogs, so he's made new friends and I chat with a group of ladies there.
I hope you are keeping well!
How is Mrs NSC these days?
Hugs! 🙂🐾🐕🌻🍀💞

Hello Hanna, wave to everyone,
I hope things have slowed down to a more manageable pace for you...
How are you managing the crowds with your vision issues?... Is there a time of day that is quieter where you can nip into the shops & grab what you need?... I went into big town today & though the roads were busy with lots of cars towing caravans I managed to fluke hitting a quiet time in both the chemist & the supermarket... I didn't get everything I intended at the supermarket though as I got the mh wobbles...
It must be a worry not being able to get Sam's special food... I'm guessing you have checked out if the online vet shops have it... some of the online pet stores also sell vet dog food... I wonder if you could ring around some of the other vets in your area & ask if they have any stock... it would be worth having to drive a bit further if you could find some... I wish it were possible for me to ring around the vets here for you & post it if I found any.
Wow you have actually found some locals who will chat... it sounds like Sam is enjoying making friends too... what a good idea having a dog park that caters for dogs of a certain size... unfortunately when big dogs try to play with little dogs they can scare or hurt them unintentionally... it must make the dogs feel less stressed having dogs their own size only...
I hope I will be about more... sorry I haven't been about
Hugs

Hello Hanna, Paws and everyone...🤗..
Thank you Hanna, the area I had the cyst removed from is doing very good, no pain where the stitches were, just tiny bits deep inside when I move the wrong way..,,I am so happy that they got it all and it won’t be coming back....The sewing up is amazing, just a thin line now...
It has been so, so hot day and night, my poor furs are really feeling it..they sleep behind the lounge through the warmer part of the day and emerge only when the sun goes down....or if I offer them a treat..😂..
Betty said that people are walking around our shopping town without masks...I honestly don’t understand people at all...Don’t they care about the other people around them..or for themselves...I need to go in tomorrow for meds again...I will get enough to last me until work starts again...
Not really any plans for the Christmas period..except Christmas lunch with my neighbour and a few others she has invited...Then it’s just me and my dogs for a while..
I might drive up to the Dam wall, with lots of aeroguard and a nice packed lunch on Boxing Day.,.I might see a few boats in the water if not..just watching the water is calming and peaceful...
My Dr, booked me in for my booster in April..that’s the 6 month date, if we are allowed to have it earlier, I’m sure she will make an appointment earlier for me...
Its nice you have a dog park near where you live...I am too far for anything like that...unfortunately my dogs don’t like water...Even when bathing them they are not happy...Which I will be giving them one tomorrow....poor girls..I have to trick them..because the laundry is a big scares oksve for them with the tub monster in it😂😂...
I hope your keeping cool today, we have a severe storm warning in our area this afternoon...hopefully it will cool the weather down for a decent sleep tonight..
Wishing you a beautiful day dear lovely Hanna...and everyone....
big hugs from my furs and myself..
Grandy..❤️💚❤️💚❤️💚..
