Hello,

I thought I would start this thread, about our pets.

I have read in the forums a lot of us has a pet or pets of some kind.

Be it a dog, cat, bird, rabbit, guinie pig, tortoise, snake, lizard etc: they bring joy to our lives, they are there for us giving us unconditional love.

I thought a it would be nice if we could share our pets antics, or if you've seen other animals, doing things that have made you laugh.

They can be funny, loving, outrageous, anything that your pet does or does not do that puts a smile on your face and might put a smile on someone's face that is struggling.

Please keep the stories light hearted and happy,

We all love our pets, let's let others enjoy them as well..

I will go first to get it up and running.

I have two little dogs, Maltese x Yorkshire x Aussie Terriers, I have Mum (4 years old) and Daughter (2years old).

My dogs have the run of the house, my back screen door after many attempts and lots of failures I put a doggie dog into it. I love theses two they are my fur family.

My story is about another dog I had many years ago, I called him boof he was a Belgium Shepard, I was sitting at my kitchen table one day just looking out my back door (creedance). Boof was just relaxing in the shade with my young son. It was a hot day and I thought I might take my young son into the pool. I was about to go outside when all of a sudden a cat ran across our yard, well Boof just took off after the cat yep my young son took off after Boof, then Boof it looked like his brakes stopped working, he was chasing the cat then I saw him slide (son still chasing him). he couldnt stop, he slid into the swimming pool with such force he bent the tin frame nearly flat to the inside of the pool, well a waterfall began, Boof was on the other side of the pool he crashed straight through it, my son ended up slipping on the water skidded to the other end of the pool, crashing and landing on Boofy scream of laughter was coming from my son, absolutely soaked to the skin covered in mud, Boof was trying to get up, slipping all over the place from the mud as well I think he was seeing stars from his hard hit, he couldn't get up. I couldn't stop laughing at the pair of them. They looked so funny covered in mud, the pool was later repaired. Son and dog was hosed off so it all ended well

Do you have a pet story to tell?

Kind thoughts

Grandy.

Hello Grandy, Lee & Spitfire1

Thank you for all your lovely comments.

Grandy - He is not always so brave, he often wants me to go first to check out scary noises outside especially at night.

Lee - "Gentle Giant" ??? Hmm I'm pretty sure he didn't get that memo 🙂 He thinks he is a small lap dog who weighs nothing.

Spitfire1 - You sound like you have your hands full. It's so easy to forget how much energy a puppy/kitten has when we have gotten used to our older pets more sedate ways. Having two at the same time must be like having mini tornadoes whirling through your place. Never having owned a cat are they like puppies, with 2 speeds: full on or sleep?

Hope you all have a lovely day

Hello everyone,

Spitfire1,

How long did it take your eldest to get used to the kittens? It's been 5 days now, although we're making slow progress, my eldest still hides. I feel like I've betrayed her 😟. She can at least now tolerate being on the same floor as the kitten. She observes from up high.

Pawprints - so cute he thinks he's a lap dog.

DB, it must be frustrating to have that fear but to also at least enjoy your brothers dog.

Lee

good morning pet lovers as to date my oldest girl still will not tolerate the 2 little ones we have a managerial system where the 2 littlies are out in the main arena during the day for about 6 hours and visa versa for my sweet old girl, the oldest generally stays in under the doona in air con with all her home comforts with her and when I am home from work I generally spend time with her having girly time or hubby goes in & spends time with her also, she does not mind a bit. The 2 little rascals are on the go virtually from when they are awake in the morning, discovering boxes to look and climb into, chasing bugs and ghekos on the outside of windows, playing tag up and around the house(watch out anyone) who happens to be in the way lol. I thought that desexing them 6 months ago perhaps would have slowed them down-no did not happen, they are all our family here!!! Many years ago I owned a black labrador named Harley she was a beautiful gentle soul who loved greeting other dogs but did not understand that some dogs did not like her as much, a few times we took her to the vet for this reason, till I learnt the hard way that she was to stay on a leash whenever walking but she crossed over to rainbow bridge due to being 14 years young, still miss her greatly today. Just now remembering 1 game we played with her with a frisbee where we aimed it @ each other (hubby & I) probably 250 metres apart & she run from 1 end to the other chasing the frisbee countless times it got to the stage where she run so much each end that her tongue would be hanging sideways out of her mouth, then we know it was the end of the game for us but she still wanted to continue the game she loved it but we did end up taking her inside to rest for the next 4 hours to recuperate from it but 4pm arrive and she be @ the door waiting for her afternoon walk without fail, it is funny how she knew the time for the walk without fail again. Well it is 1.30 in the morning for me here so time for my old gurl who is sitting by my feet cleaning herself for us both to go to ZZZ land. All the best Spitfire1

Hello Spitfire1,

Had to chuckle at your Harley just wanting to keep playing, I had a Lab called Fred who would chase/retrieve only once, if I threw the toy a second time he would just stand & look at me then look where the toy was, then look at me again, clearly saying you threw it if you want go get it yourself. It's wonderful how they can be the same breed yet so different, your girl sounds like she was a bundle of energy & fun, my boy was a sloth in dogs clothing. One thing they do have in common though is leaving us with joyful memories.

Hey Spitfire,

Hello youcantknow,

What breed is your puppy? I bet puppy has that gorgeous puppy smell too.

My pets are the reason I am still here . I look forward to hearing your puppy stories.

Lee

He is a beagle x puglier! it's nice to know that someone loves me no matter.

This morning i was walking him and telling him about random things and this man walked past and gave the weirdest look(like y r u talking to your dog, you do know he can't talk back kinda look) but i don't care because i love him so much!!

what sort of pets do u have?

Hello youcantknow,

Naaawww your puppy sounds gorgeous. It is amazing how they can help us feel better just by being there. You have so many new things to teach him & adventures together to look forward to. How is the house training going, I've have found over the years some puppies get it really quickly & some take a bit longer.

Please keep the puppy tales coming
