Hi everyone.
The name’s Ashley and I’ve been a member for a while but this is my first real involvement. I just thought it was time. So where do I start? How about this.
I’m a forty-six year old married father of two. Recovering alcoholic since 2006, I take prescription medication for severe depression and I also have to deal with higher level autism. ( it’s officially Aspergers Syndrome). I’m no stranger to panic attacks and I also deal with a speech impediment.
I realise that this may be a bit much for my first entry but I’d rather get it out of the way first. I do what I’m comfortable with doing and that works out fine.
So hello.

Well hello there Ashley! Welcome and Merry X-mess!
Lovely to meet you. 🙂
It'd be great if you could stick around BB forum as we don't have many like-minded souls on here with Asperger's. Your insight and wisdom is a welcome addition to our community.
We're all pretty easy going so take a load off to read/post or look around the sections/info sheets for what ails ya.
As this is our Xmas chill-out lounge, how would you feel about creating your own thread in the welcome section so people can find you? We don't want you getting lost among our Christmas jokes and sing-a-longs. 🙂
I for one would love to join in a discussion with you. I've had training on the autism spectrum, so we might enjoy educating the masses together, as well as give you all the support you need. We're here for you and care ok
Of course, you can post here till your hearts content if you like. You haven't done anything wrong. I'm just putting some options out there to one of our precious newbies. Above all, I want you to feel at home and safe to be yourself.
Again, welcome Ashley..
Kind thoughts;
Sez

Dear Santa;
All I want for Xmas is a fat bank account, and a thin body. Please Santa, can you not mix them up like you did last year?
Cheers...Sez

If you ever have any questions please feel free to ask. Online I can communicate quite freely without any problem. Unfortunately I have an issue around crowds. I’m not a fan. That isn’t meant to be taken personally. It’s just a part of the “aspie” condition. But thanks for welcoming me into the fold. I appreciate it.

hello, WOW I am stunned how you all can remember every ones names to say HI to each and every person. I have to look several times just to get 1 name right. doing a post takes me three quarters of an hour or more. I am glad you all like my posts it means a lot to me. I am use to the oppeset end of the stick.
you are all very clever!! hello to the moderator I hope im not creating to much work for you.
hello to ashley3 I to am an aspie so I feel your greef. it is a confusing, frustrating condition for us and others. I am 35 and have only started to learn about it. i still seem to alienate people farly well though I am trying to see my faults and modify them if I can. I found aspie world on the u tube has been handy for learning. I don't know if they have a private message thing on here (still learning) but ether way feel free to chat to me if you think it might help.
as always thinking of you all and hope you are all well....... hello

Hi again Ashley;
The reason I suggested you create your own thread is to help people find you if they have questions or to support your journey. Personally, yes, there's a question I have about a friend of mine who's on the spectrum. I don't think it's appropriate for this thread though.
It's amazing how Steve, who's only been on for a few posts, stated he too has Aspie's and is learning about it. Who would'a thunk? lol
I'm not quite sure why you thought I'd take things personally. Are you saying 'crowds' includes a lot of attention on the forum? I understand your issues with physical crowds for sure, and can relate to social media being overwhelming. I'm guessing your depression/panic is behind this?
It's all good Ashley; whatever makes you comfortable ok. Again, it's great to have you on board.
Take care;
Sez

Hey there Steve!
Sorry I missed you on my rounds buddy. I'm really happy you've found the forum to be a pleasant place to talk. Welcome! 🙂
I hope this Xmas season's not pushing too many of your buttons. If so, don't hesitate to purge your thoughts onto the page ok. We truly care; use BB to support you and your recovery anytime. We'll be pleased to help in whatever way we can, and of course you can encourage others too; it's what we do.
If you go into one of the sections that's relevant to you and press the red 'create thread' button, you'll have your own space to talk up a storm. I'm sure many will reply and you'll become familiar in no time.
It's lovely to meet you Steve.
Kind (Christmassy) thoughts;
Sez
