Season's Greetings everyone!
Steve - when new members reveal such thoughts, it's a blessing. Nice people abound on BB because we give what we desire; hearts overflowing and healing minds. Thankyou...
I haven't shopped for my family yet. There's so many children, I don't know where to start. A couple of the boys begged me not to buy books again! Sigh...I try to be as generous as I can, and give valued gifts that can be kept and remembered.
When I was 12 my parents gave me a diamanté watch that danced and glittered in the light. I loved it to pieces, but wondered why my sisters received more presents than me.
My mum and I spoke about it last week and she proclaimed for the first time, she'd felt sad for me. My watch had cost so much, the equivalent was spent on the others which added up to many more gifts. She saw the look on my face as they opened one after the other in front of me.
Isn't it interesting how I remember many of the gifts I received as a child. We did it tough back then but my parents always seemed to give such beautiful things. I watch on each year now as my great-nieces and nephews open so many gifts it's a wonder they remember any of them. However, they remembered mine! Ha!
I try to inspire...
Sez xo

Dear TenacityJane (with a wave to all here)~
I did not like coming home ot an empty house when I was on my own. It does sometimes set a gloomy atmosphere. Can yo uset up lights, TV and other things so when you open the door on your return it seems warm and busy, not cold and empty.
Then of course the fun bit, Xmas on bb (stock up on terrible jokes -if Kanga has not got them all already:)
BTW do you have a pet?

Hi Everyone,
Wow, this thread is motoring along. I posted very early, and kind of left it because Xmas was quite a way away 🙂
I’ve spent many Xmas days on my own, as I have no family in my state, and I share an evening Xmas meal with a friend.
I have invitations to go to one or two other places, but suffer from that awkwardness about being in other family’s lives etc.
I now actually appreciate how I spend Xmas day. And what made it great for me was my local ABC (AM band) radio. Put it on, get into preparing for the evening dinner, relax, chillout and listen to people from everywhere in our great country ring in and share their day. I can really recommend this if you are on your own on Xmas Day.
We are very fortunate to have a National broadcaster that provides, non religious, ad free, social radio from all parts of the country for all of Xmas Day - I find it very heart warming - plus they always play Paul Kelly’s “Gravy Song” - take that as you will 🙂
cheers M 🙂
PS: If you like to spend New Years Eve on your own, they have an equally great broadcast 🙂

Hi Everybody
Hey Mathy
Thankyou for sharing what you are going to be doing at Christmas. I get it when you mentioned about the awkwardness factor where family are concerned....you have really read my mind on that one...seriously..
Mathy mentioned "what made it great for me was my local ABC (AM band) radio. Put it on, get into preparing for the evening dinner, relax, chillout and listen to people from everywhere in our great country ring in and share their day. I can really recommend this if you are on your own on Xmas Day"
You are more than welcome to be a part of the Christmas/New Years thread Mathy....There are many people on the forums that would continue to find your support invaluable during this emotional roller coaster of a festive season.
Hey DB....I actually cant remember what year I had a roast.....seriously....Yummmm
My Best
Paul
