Hi everyone, This section of the forum is a little different to the others, as you may have noticed in looking around the threads. Elsewhere on the forums, we discuss some pretty heavy topics: mental health issues, thoughts of suicide, trauma, abuse, relationship breakdowns. Here is the place to come to get away from that and have a bit of fun. Distraction can be an important tool to draw on if you're finding yourself overwhelmed by distressing thoughts and feelings. As this is a section for respite from difficult topics, we will remove posts made in this section that attempt to discuss personal issues. Please use a support thread in the appropriate section for these discussions. Happy posting!

I made this thread to have a chat about any sport we play! My two big ones are footy and surfing. I play footy at a state level and train numerous times a week, as well as going out for a surf whenever I can.

Most of us like to read when we feel up to it. Anything from a newspaper, magazine to a good book, etc. I love reading. I figured while I've got health issues and therefore time I may as well improve my life somehow. I like self help books. I have a few books on Acupressure, which I started buying this year.I learnt a lot from these books which directed me towards other things. I've needed to learn/relearn social skills so I buy books on dating/how to meet women so I can at least learn those skills. I've bought several books lately. As a guy I love reading books on cars and how to type mechanical work, restorations, etc. Then I bought books on spraypainting as well. Books by Allan Pease are always good for self improvement. 2 books I recommend of his are: 1)Talk Language. 2)Write Language. Both great books. I like to read up on books on how to run a business and franchising.Interesting topics. Then human resources, etc.Lot of great books out there. I find that reading just keeps your mind active and occupied. Its comforting. Your turn. What do you like to read?

I was introduced to this story last week by a colleague in another group. She was providing me emotional support during some particularly traumatic child contact issues. It is a children's book first published in 1922. It is about a toy rabbit that comes alive due to the love of a child. It is all about being genuine. It rang true with me and made me cry. The take home message for me is to believe in yourself.

This is meant as a thread to share ideas on how we deal with the angst/sad feeling we sometimes get if we find ourselves at home on what is usually considered a time of the week to be out partying/enjoying oneself. I reckon if we share ideas we can build our self esteem and combat some of that crappy feeling. Something i find good is watching a film i havent seen for years. Last friday i watched Batman Begins and found a new love for comic superheroes and ended up buying Arkham Asylum on PC which ive never played before. this act on its own is not much, but it was a way to treat myself and basically tune out. What are other people's ideas?
