Hi everyone, This section of the forum is a little different to the others, as you may have noticed in looking around the threads. Elsewhere on the forums, we discuss some pretty heavy topics: mental health issues, thoughts of suicide, trauma, abuse, relationship breakdowns. Here is the place to come to get away from that and have a bit of fun. Distraction can be an important tool to draw on if you're finding yourself overwhelmed by distressing thoughts and feelings. As this is a section for respite from difficult topics, we will remove posts made in this section that attempt to discuss personal issues. Please use a support thread in the appropriate section for these discussions. Happy posting!

Hi Kitty , I hope you find me in this BB social zone , rural NSW sounds like a great area to grow up in , better than city I think , I had some time in a city as a kid but much preferred the rural life , looks like we have some things in common with writing stuff down to reply to each other , I am using the tablet from library for this , bigger and easier than my phone , did you get to listen to Indian sitar music on way home ? If so how was it ? I have Indian flute music on now from YouTube, really beautiful , so glad you told me about it . Not sure if all libraries do the loan of ipads and tablets, kinda happy yet apprehensive about going back to old work place, will have to see how it all pans out .it sounds like a them problem kitty , nothing wrong with being assertive a bit in life .yes I do understand how it can cause anxiety when people are like that at work , people who engage in rumours and gossip are usual insecure and do it to bolster themselves, sad really , but you are stronger than them , I just know it , and it can be hard with the uncertainty of job security in covid times on top of nasty work colleagues, it sux , but you can overcome it , they are a blip on the radar

This is a forum game format I’ve used elsewhere online. Basically, all you need do is post a list of ingredients; they don’t all need to be common ingredients for cooking, and some or all of them can be outlandish things like household objects, garments, or even abstract concepts or ideas. Go simple... go wild... go for it! Then the next poster compiles those ingredients into the resulting dish, including name and a brief, optional description; again, it needn’t be any form of edible cuisine, but could be anything that you imagine. Hopefully, this stimulates your creativity and imagination, and perhaps a few smiles and/or giggles. Okay, let’s begin! *** 1 cup milk 1 tsp vanilla extract 2 cups plain flour 1 tsp honey 3 drops essence of love

Hi guys, I was inspired by Neil's thread about favourite movies. I want to know - what are some of your favourite bands/musicians? Do you have an album that you listen to over and over? Is there a songwriter who you connect with, that seem like they draw their lyrics directly from your soul? What is your favourite style of music? Who did you grow up listening to? Are you a musician yourself? And importantly, I'm always looking to discover another band or genre so if you have any suggestions of a great song let me know so that I can look it up As for me, I don't really like most of the stuff that gets played on the radio. The lyrics seem meaningless to me, and the songs are mostly produced just to make money - not to connect with an audience or tell a story. I prefer songs and artists that are sincere and genuine, that confront important and real life topics or are emotionally touching. that doesn't mean I live for slow ballads... no, I listen to all kinds of music, fast paced - slow and rhythmic, rap, hip hop, jazz, folk, rock, alternative, metal.... I love it so long as it has some depth. I'm currently hooked on a band called Twenty One Pilots. I love em! Also, I recently discovered a genre called Nerdcore which is rapping about nerdy stuff like computer games and everyday events etc... I love rap but I don't love a lot of the language or topics that are usually rapped about, so chilling out to some lighthearted Nerdcore works for me

Hi I wanted to start this thread so that there was a place that people could introduce themselves and have a chat and make some friends when it seems that is a really hard thing to do in the "real world", that out there in life it is so very hard for people to make friends and maintain friendships and feel like they matter and are of value in a friendship. So welcome and I can't wait for you all to chat and share with each other and know that you have friends here. So to start the conversation if you feel it weird to write a post on here....grab a coffee or whatever your chat drink of choice is..maybe an Oat Milk Chai...yum ...and let's get started making new friends.... "What is something that no one would know by looking at you?" Mine is that I speak Thai..... Hugs and love as always Sarah xxxx

The question sounds antagonistic but that's how the media would portray it, I wouldn't expect politically correct treatment. Lets be honest here. So what got me thinking (obsessively) about this is firstly that I have Depression, and it's severe, enough so that I'm unable to work (details are personal). Which right away, is that disqualifying? Or would that be discriminatory? Anyway, the second thing was the Myers Briggs Personality Test told me I'm an INFJ and the description was like reading an autobiography, it was scary. It's too much info to go into but one of the characteristics is wanting to fix society's problems. It's gotten me thinking about possibilities, and whether or not somebody with a mental illness could even run for a public office. And what better community to ask for realistic opinions? Personally, the thought of me doing it feels crazy, literally. And stupid, and naive. I have no qualifications or experience, just ideals. Then you see just how ineffectual the government and opposition are and that's just accepted as normal, and that seems even crazier. Why don't we have anyone fighting against the corruption, the media bias, and total lack of policy direction? Where's the push for progress? Climate action, UBI, expand Medicare to include Mental and Dental health, Reconciliation, there's no fight for anything. Where's the Aussie Bernie Sanders? Is the whole world crazy or is it just me? So, thoughts? Opinions? Please speak freely.

Hi all As a result of a little posting between myself and Matty, I've decided to create this thread. It's something that so many of us could contribute to ... and there's no right or wrong answer or suggestion ... there's no-one judging, but hopefully it will be just a little bit of a distraction for all us (even if for a short time). And if anyone would like to give a little reason for the movie they suggest, then GO FOR IT. Also, don't hold back at just one ... so post away and post often. For starters, I have 3 movies that all begin with the letter S that I really enjoy (although one really begins with the letter T): Sea Of Love (Al Pacino and the big funny guy, who I can't think of right now) Sleepers (powerful movie - awful awful what happens in the first half, but the 2nd half is revenge, oh sweet revenge) The Shawkshank Redemption (Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins - love it) Cheers all Neil
