There are some great and creative names being used on beyond blue. I am really interested in getting to know some of the stories behind them and getting to know you the process.
I thought I'd introduce myself through explaining my name.
Gruffudd.
It is Welsh and pronounced Griffith. I have found a sense of place and belonging in my Welsh background - it has always been there but I never really owned it or thought much of it until the last couple of years. Exploring it has helped me learn about my dad, and answered some of the questions about him like why he thinks and does some things. It is not my name, rather a family name from my grandmother's side. She was perhaps the biggest influence growing up, she had us kids after school and taught the fine traditions of making welsh cakes and was just the best listener, drank litres of tea.

Hello everyone,
My display name princess_fiona is taken from the film Shrek. Fiona is my first name & I never really liked it so much, I always thought it was a bit plain and boring. When the film Shrek came about, everyone took notice of the name and started to refer to me as Princess Fiona, even some teachers at High School. There aren't too many famous Fiona's out there that i'm aware of, so it was always a good laugh.
I also like how Fiona isn't your typical princess, (Spoiler Alert) and that in fact she's an ogre too. Most people think ogre's are ugly creatures, & I often felt very plain and unattractive.
In the film Shrek, Fiona and other soon realise she's worthy of love and acceptance no matter what she looks like or who she is, and she finally felt comfortable to show who she really was....so hopefully Shrek & Fiona are still living happily ever after - and I will too.

Hi there Princess Fiona, Welcome to the forums.
I do like your name and the story behind it. You know with a beautiful personality a person is never plain and unattractive. I hope that you will live happily ever after too.
Rob.

Hi Gruffudd,
What a good thread. Well Helen is my middle name but I started using it when I left home. My real name is Deborah and my family still use that.
My nephew lives in Wales with his wife and son. I live in Scotland and in many ways the two countries are similar.

Hi All,
My name on the website Durras is because it is my favourite place to go to, it is peaceful, relaxing, soothing and a nice place to let all your thoughts and feelings washing away in the roles an waves of the sea.
It is half hour out of Batemans Bay in NSW, it is like a tiny tucked away place amongst a national park, with kangaroos hopping around freely and other wildlife too. You can feed the wild parrots, cockatoos etc from your hands and walk along lots of beaches, or go swimming, snorkelling and also great for fishing.
It is a fantastic place just to get away and breath and just be with the wonderful nature we have been blessed with. If you want to go here look under South Durras in the First National Real Estate Batemans Bay under holiday rentals. There is also a resort there and a Big 4 caravan park.
If you have a chance to go or want to get away from it all, this is a place that won't let you down but like anywhere else it is cheaper out of peak season.
Oh my name is Carol.

Well; I clearly love Toowoomba, having lived there some 35 years till I retired 6+ years ago and wished I still lived there. But my current wife hails from Brisbane and her kids live there (also her elderly parents were still alive at taht stage) so it was a given that we would retire here, just South of Brisbane
My heart will stay in the place I lived longer than anywhere else, came there straight from the Netherlands...

I have suffered depression since I hit puberty (now 28, 15 long years) and have struggled through suicide attempts and bad relationships to try and see a light at the end of the tunnel.
My name is my latest reason to fight, I wont leave my daughter without a mother. I have a fiance, beautiful daughter and a wonderful step son and I want to be a mother that she is proud of but most days I fight to be there when she wakes up and holding her when she falls asleep.
I fight for the simple, I wont leave her alone.

Hi,
My nickname is a combination of names of people that I need to focus on when things get a little rough. My partner, my son and myself. We all try to please other people and sometimes we forget those who matter the most.
