Tell me about your beyond blue name...

There are some great and creative names being used on beyond blue. I am really interested in getting to know some of the stories behind them and getting to know you the process.

I thought I'd introduce myself through explaining my name.

Gruffudd.

It is Welsh and pronounced Griffith. I have found a sense of place and belonging in my Welsh background - it has always been there but I never really owned it or thought much of it until the last couple of years. Exploring it has helped me learn about my dad, and answered some of the questions about him like why he thinks and does some things. It is not my name, rather a family name from my grandmother's side. She was perhaps the biggest influence growing up, she had us kids after school and taught the fine traditions of making welsh cakes and was just the best listener, drank litres of tea.

Hey great topic.

Iv used this name a bit but never really stopped to think why i chose it.

With the depression & anxiety i feel its left me rather 'ditzy' my memory is so bad & effects me every day.

But to save ppl paying me out about it i chose to beat them to the punch & own it. Instead of feeling bad all the time forgetting im giving ppl a heads up that this is me,  im well aware of, don't try & make me feel bad for it, accept it, i have, coz its who i am.

Plus it sets thier expectations low so every now & again i WOW them with a pearl of wisdome that is far from ditzy. Keeping ppl on thier toes lol 😉

Hi everyone,

how wonderful to read this thread and learn a little more about each of you! such great stories. i have lots of stories to share about my real name but will just stick to my profile name for now.

i think there is a lot of power in names, i believe one can grow into and become one's name, so i try to choose them carefully. late last year when i joined the forum i was really struggling to find hope that i could change and lead a more contented life... i do still struggle with that i guess. but at the same time i believe that hope is something that i need to actively cultivate, i can't just wait for it to miraculously appear. i believe miracles do happen, but that i need to be open to them. so long story short, i chose a name that reminded me of growing hope, and joy, well to me joy is a bright singing yellow flower that is not weighed down by depression and a lack of confidence... and that is what i aspire to too. so i guess hope for joy is what i wish to cultivate in my life.

kind wishes, christina

Hi everyone,

Although it may seen my name is self explanatory, it isn't to me 🙂

I have been through a lot in my life and having this title now means I am achieving my goals they I have set.

I am now a Naturopath and this is huge.

I am also a Western Herbal Medicine provider too but Naturopath is bigger to me.

Without going into to much detail. I have been through hard times and come out stronger. I want to share my strength through Naturopathy.

I am very passionate about mental health and helping many to achieve their goals.

I am located in Valentine and my dream is to help as many as I can.

hey peeps, as the name fairywings suggests I am an earth angel and angels have wings. I was once told by a medium that i carry a halo above my head and carry a white light that surrounds me. She told me my angel name was arch angel Gabriel who carries a halo above his head and has a white light surrounding him. He is god's highest ascendant and the medium also told me that i am some sort of high priestess. And she was right feel so blessed to have this beautiful gift of being your own guardian angel. So there you go glad to have shared this with you guys today.

Love the name, Gruffudd. The Welsh language is intriguing. Roberty Bob is the name my baby sister used to call me. She was my first and best mental health advocate.

Hey Roberty_Bob

My baby sis was my first advocate and counsel too. She was the first who listened to me howl about how rotten I was feeling and wanted to drive under a truck. I love my sissy to bits.

I've been reading through everyones posts here. I like the company I am keeping in this thread. Names and stories are such a special gift. I do feel privileged to read the stories, I feel more connected somehow, and want to say thank you for sharing with me.

Talking of feeling connected, today, the first of March is St Davids day, it is our national day in Wales (nothing much happens in New South Wales and no one seems to care much) At work I have a picture of my grandmother and her brother, David. Nana was about 10 years old and is sitting behind David who was 18 on his new motor bike. They are in the back yard of the family terrace house in Caerphilly, Wales. He loved that bike and his little sister. Tragedy followed when he crashed a few weeks later. But there in that photo is a happy day 90 years ago that is still remembered. Being connected to family past through all those stories seems to give me a sense of belonging.

Rob.

Hi,

Really find this thread interesting, hearing about different aspects of peoples' lives.

My name is partly because I feel soul full, sometimes happily so and sometimes not. Also, because it kind of plays on a genre of music which I really adore - soul music ( and blues too ). The 42 is because that was the age I felt as if my life was sort of together - I had a good routine, my kids were ok, I was content with things - after that age of course things changed..... But I also chose 42 because, if any of you have read "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", then you'll know the answer.
