but how do we cope with our crisis while waiting?
What are some helpful strategies you have found useful during your stay in the department?
I often get stuck in the emergency room waiting room overnight due to the fact there is no mental health team 24/7 where I live. I'm really struggling being here tonight. My usual strategies of listening to music isn't really working so I'm wondering if there is anything else I should try. Please note my concentration and attention is limited due to being in crisis. I feel trapped and stuck.
I wish lifeline text was 24/7 coz I could really use someone to talk to. Are there any other online options as I cant really call someone due to the nature of a waiting room.

thanks for caring mb20lover and sleepy
the psych ward where I am isn't that great, but I was safe, so I guess that's the main thing.
I'm ok. I really didn't think I would make it to 2021, but now its here I have some exciting things to look for to, for example, joining an art group and finally doing art again which I stopped stopped doing for a long time.

Apparently my local hospital had the longest wait times in the country and the worst ambulance ramping situation etc and the government refuses to do anything about it.

Makes me really angry C
absolutely disgraceful that this crucial service is so poor when so many need it to be better, yesterday.
And it's not like we can go somewhere else - we are obligated to go to the hopsital in our suburb's catchment area, so it's determined by an aribtrary factor like the place that we live

And it's pretty rare to find psychologist/psychiatrists/GPs that bulk bill in Tasmania. It's disgraceful how Tasmania is one of the lowest economical demographics but health care is so expensive and/or impossible to receive, or just rubbish.
One of my closest friends spent yesterday and today in emergency waiting room with serious abdominal pain. To be discharged with a 'incocourent diagnosis' and told to follow up with a gp she can't get into.

It feels like it's someone else who is pulling on my strings
How can I fight this war when I'm about to lose control?
Despair and anguish are the struggles of my soul
So insecurity is all that I am
Oh God, what's the point of this? I'll never understand
My case manager won't get back to me the last few days. What's the point anymore.

Hey Centaured, I'm sorry to hear you're struggling a lot. I hope you're ok.
Check out GP2U, they're in Tasmania, I use them. They're based in Tassie and they have people from other parts of Australia, but there are a few Doctors, Psychiatrists and Psychologists in Tassie through there, and they bulk bill. I hope that helps.
