Hey to anyone reading this.
Last night I had an idea about starting a new thread about exercise especially walking. I am aware that walking is very beneficial for our mental, emotional and physical well being. And by actually doing it....well it can make a huge difference to how we cope with the storms that we face in life.
OK, I am not real good at disciplining myself to walk, and have to really push myself to do it. And sometimes it is even hard to leave this bedroom. Anyway I am not a beginner walker, as I have stuck to sort of a plan before. So I know that it does make me feel somewhat better. But I only stayed on the plan for a couple of months, then gave up.....for whatever reason. So here I am again wanting desperately to not fail this time.
So I guess this thread is for anyone that does walk, anyone that is struggling to walk because of depression or anxiety issues. And anyone else really......
I am unsure of the outcome of all this. But my ideas included: Sharing about things we have found out about exercise especially about walking. Writing down the reasons that one would chose to walk ( like something to help motivate). Being accountable in same way. Sharing about the places where we actually do walk, like the beach, gym, around the block, with the dog, out to the clothesline and back. And any other useful tips that could help others. So here we go......

Hi Mk2692 ,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts about how walking benefits you. While I am out walking, I like to take photos on my phone. Due to Covid rules at work, I end up having a separate lunch break from everyone else and feel quite lonely, so looking back at my photos helps to pass the time.
I try to walk most days. I too like to find a place to walk away from human made noises. I'm fortunate enough to live close to an old dirt farmer's track that leads away from the highway and most days is reasonably quiet.
Sometime I hope to stay close to a beach that is not in the city zone, so I can hear the ocean and not the traffic.
Cheers to you from Dools

Hello Mrs D, how much would it cost to buy your own sheep, goats or a cow to put in amongst the long grass. I am not sure about your area, but around here people pay to keep their horse on other people's property. I wonder if that would work at your place.
Looking out to a valley sounds pretty lovely. And very peaceful hearing all the sounds from birds. Nice fresh air too.
Did you walk on "old Farmers track" today?
I listen to songs on ytube and if I really like the song I may buy it from iTunes. I download the song onto this little ipod I have. And I also have Spotify on my phone.
Also I have bought music from the Christian store called koorong. Like the physical CD. They have a store in Adelaide I believe. They have an online store as well.

Hi Mk2692,
Yes thankyou for sharing about your walking. I too love the fresh air. Just breathing it in is so good isnt it? And there is something calming about walking amongst trees and hearing the gentle noises of birds and other wildlife.

Hi
I walked out on Breakwall Path again. So nice to feel the sunshine on my skin and breathe in the fresh ocean air. The water in the port was a deep looking blue. I really like that colour blue. Feeling physically tired today, but thankful I walked on put there.

Hello Everyone,
Shell, I had thought about buying some kind of creatures for the back block or trying to borrow some from other people. In the summer we are down to bare dirt here so it would mean buying in a lot of food for months. I will have to do a bit more enquiring.
I had a walk along the farmer's track yesterday and today. It was very foggy this morning, so that added a whole different dimension to the view.
Yesterday I saw a kangaroos head pop up out of the crop. The roo started to hop through the crop, seemed to find that a bit difficult, so stopped and ducked down again, so all I could see where the tops of the roos ears. It was quite comical.
Sorry to hear you are feeling so tired Shell.
I have started listing to a white noise app my husband put on my phone for me. Last night I was listening to a cat's purr. We do have a Koorong store in Adelaide, I have not been there for ages. I forget about using modern technology, so will do that and find some songs I like.
Wishing you all a day with moments of peace and happiness. Cheers.

Ah that's so cute... seeing only the ears of a kangaroo bobbing along. Would make a good video if you could get close enough to take it.
And yeah seeing fog while walking on Farmers Track would add a different perspective . Fog often seems mysterious to me, not sure exactly why.
And ah yeah I see about the dry ground and all.

Hi awesome peoples
Today I didn't do any exercise. Just feels like I need to rest. Which is important too. I met up with my sister. I guess we did walk about 25 metres from the car to "Clover Hill" except there was hardly any clover. The grass had been mowed. But we still sat on the hill and chatted. And we laughed. It felt so so good to laugh. Sometimes I can just get so deep in thoughts, so hung up on things. It gets too much and then I feel such a heaviness of my soul. So the laughter helped heaps. Things seemed so much lighter. So good.

Just got back from a walk along near the main road. I feel pretty physically tired. Still glad I walked though. It started to sprinkle rain, I quite liked that. It was about a 20 minute walk.
Also did more cleaning today so that was a bit more movement... bending, scrubbing and walking around with the vacuum.

I haven't been for a walk for a few days. It is hot so I'm uncomfortable outside. I did some gardening in the morning and yesterday after it cooled down. I'm tired and unsure where it is safe to walk at the moment. With lockdown finishing, parks and gardens are likely to be crowded particularly popular ones. We also had bad storms Thursday to Friday so roads were unsafe. I need to build up confidence to go out without worrying about heat & crowds.
On Sunday my son came around with his son's, Mr 9 asked me to play cricket. A small paved area & the concrete around the clothes hoist became the pitch. I was hopeless trying to get him out but I got some exercise. He liked being able to beat grandma and we had a laugh mainly at my pathetic attempts. It was nice to have some fun together and he enjoyed playing with me instead of getting frustrated by my poor attempts.
I hope we can all get back our energy and motivation to do walks or other enjoyable exercise Sorry my posts are not very frequent. I'm struggling and sometimes feel unable to express myself properly
