Hey to anyone reading this.
Last night I had an idea about starting a new thread about exercise especially walking. I am aware that walking is very beneficial for our mental, emotional and physical well being. And by actually doing it....well it can make a huge difference to how we cope with the storms that we face in life.
OK, I am not real good at disciplining myself to walk, and have to really push myself to do it. And sometimes it is even hard to leave this bedroom. Anyway I am not a beginner walker, as I have stuck to sort of a plan before. So I know that it does make me feel somewhat better. But I only stayed on the plan for a couple of months, then gave up.....for whatever reason. So here I am again wanting desperately to not fail this time.
So I guess this thread is for anyone that does walk, anyone that is struggling to walk because of depression or anxiety issues. And anyone else really......
I am unsure of the outcome of all this. But my ideas included: Sharing about things we have found out about exercise especially about walking. Writing down the reasons that one would chose to walk ( like something to help motivate). Being accountable in same way. Sharing about the places where we actually do walk, like the beach, gym, around the block, with the dog, out to the clothesline and back. And any other useful tips that could help others. So here we go......

Hello Shelly...
A lot of times in winter, I will rug myself up except my face and sit outside feeling that fresh crisp coldness on my face....
The cold air on my face...feels like an icy water wash...my skin feels good, fresh and alive...it’s just so very refreshing...and only available to us in winter...Imagine how nice it would be in summer to be able to do this....I remember when I was younger, that I got the same feeling, when I walked along a beach..then went and just splashed my face with the sea water...with the cool coastal breeze a wet face....so refreshing with the wind turning my face cold...
Hugs lovely Shelly....

Oh your experience is beautiful Grandy. It sounds weird saying an experience of feeling the cold on your face is beautiful. But it seems that way to me. Just enjoying the simple and pure blessings in one's life.
Hug back to you Grandy

Hello Shelly, and everyone..,.🤗
Hope you are all doing okay..
I am not sure what a breakwall is..in my mind I see a wall not unlike the walls that hold up the dam water...that is made of bricks, shells, sandstone that makes a path that someone can walk along that takes them out along the deeper water on one side of the wall and on the other side is a type of seawater swimming pool, and continuing to walk on the breakwater path leads back to the sand....
I am possibly absolutely wrong with my thoughts of a breakwater path....but that’s the way I visualise one...
Shelly do you often take pictures of the different things you see on your walk....When I was younger, my grandma showed me a small box she made out of many different size and shape shells....It was really pretty...
Hugs lovely Shelly...

It's a little how you imagined it Grandy. I will attempt to describe it more.
There is a super wide concrete path that attaches to a car park on one side and there is a beach on the other side. Their is a high rail on the beach side. It's nice to lean on the rail and watch the waves. There is also a row of seats facing the ocean and some outside type beach showers.
I walk on this wide concrete path first past all that. Keep following this path, which starts to narrow a bit. The path is now lined with another rail on the left hand side. It's a beautiful rail. It's black and looks like a rail on an old ship. Except it is brand new. They built in last year. As you walk along and look over the black ship rail you see a smallish beach which often has dogs running in the water and digging holes. Sometimes I even stand leaning over this rail and watch the dogs having such fun. I like doing that. This beach borders the large port here. Many large cargo ships come through here. They are absolutely massive. I love hearing the sound of the ships horn as it sort of echoes throughout the air. Such a deep long mysterious sound. It's beautiful.
Anyways on the other side of the path opposite this beach is the sand dunes. I have walked over these before. Sometimes you can see glimpses of the ocean over the dunes. There is a bit of green vegatation growing on the dunes, but not a lot.
Keep walking along the path the doggie beach is now ended and tapers sort of into rocks. There has been a lot of drift wood and logs amongst the rocks before. From those storms whenever that was. Over from the rocks is the port itself. Its quite wide and there is land on the other side. It really is lovely walking along here especially early evening as the breeze that comes through here is often so fresh. On the other side is still sand dunes. But just up ahead is a hill, that I call Light House Hill. It is on the right. If you looked over to the left you still see the port. And the black ship railing. I have walked up that hill many times. There is a lighthouse on top, plus some renovated cottages ( which no one lives in, I don't think) From the top, the view is beautiful. You can see the ocean, and the rest of the path. It sticks out quite a way. If you turn around whilst up on that hill, you can see the city. And you can see the doggie beach. And you can see the path where you just walked from.
Once you walk back down Lighthouse Hill and turn right you can keep following the path along.

Keep walking along, there is now a huge hill on the right. With lots of green plants growing on it. The type of plants that like the ocean and sandy soil. On top of that hill is the lighthouse. The port is still on the other side. The black ship rail ends about now. And there are just rocks mostly. But you do sometimes see a plant on this side. Growing amongst the cracks in the rocks. There is sand there as well.
Keep walking there is now the end of a beach on the right. I often walk on the beach too. Its the end of the beach we saw at the beginning. There is a tiny hill that stems from the beach up onto the path. The Breakwall Path. As you keep walking along the path, which is now the Breakwall. Which is a concrete path with large rocks and boulders on both sides now. The ocean is on the right and the port is on the left. So water on both sides. People often fish from these large rocks. You can walk right to the very end. Sometimes when the ocean is rough it will splash up over the rocks and onto the breakwall Path. And you may get wet by sprays of water. It can happen a lot especially at the very end of the path.
I think convicts layed down the foundations of this path. And way back it had a train line on it. Something to do with coal going onto the ships.
So I guess the Breakwall tames the waves in the ocean, so the port is calmer for the ships to come in and out. Just my understanding.
There is also another breakwall path on the other side of the port. Though it is not as long. I have walked on that before as well.

Ah that is nice about your Grandma. I may have seen little boxes before with shells stuck on the outside.
Sometimes I will take photos. But I like the free feeling of not carrying anything with me. I leave the phone in the car. Just take the keys mostly
