Hey to anyone reading this.
Last night I had an idea about starting a new thread about exercise especially walking. I am aware that walking is very beneficial for our mental, emotional and physical well being. And by actually doing it....well it can make a huge difference to how we cope with the storms that we face in life.
OK, I am not real good at disciplining myself to walk, and have to really push myself to do it. And sometimes it is even hard to leave this bedroom. Anyway I am not a beginner walker, as I have stuck to sort of a plan before. So I know that it does make me feel somewhat better. But I only stayed on the plan for a couple of months, then gave up.....for whatever reason. So here I am again wanting desperately to not fail this time.
So I guess this thread is for anyone that does walk, anyone that is struggling to walk because of depression or anxiety issues. And anyone else really......
I am unsure of the outcome of all this. But my ideas included: Sharing about things we have found out about exercise especially about walking. Writing down the reasons that one would chose to walk ( like something to help motivate). Being accountable in same way. Sharing about the places where we actually do walk, like the beach, gym, around the block, with the dog, out to the clothesline and back. And any other useful tips that could help others. So here we go......

Oh wow, that is rather unique to see the kangaroos then. My dad got boxed or kicked by a kangaroo whilst in a caravan park once. Don't think he got hurt much though.
Can you have a nice long soak in the bathtub then Mrs D? Not sure if you have one. We don't.
Oh yes I hope to go and look inside that beautiful building soon. Think you may like it.

Good morning Shell and All Reading,
I'm about to go out for a walk, it is very foggy out there today, I have been waiting for it to become a little lighter so people can see me as I walk along the main road to then gain access to the side streets.
We do have a bath tub Shell, it is rather small and body parts get cold as they are not submerged! I could put a heater in there to warm the room up before I have a bath, that would help.
A friend told me of someone who had an old claw bath down the back yard. They would fill it with water from the creek close by and light a fire underneath it to warm the water! Sounds wonderful!
The fog is lifting a little so I will encourage myself to go out for a walk!
Cheers to you Shell and to all reading. Bye.

How did you find your walk this morning Mrs D? Did the fog lift enough
I love that idea of an old claw bathtub out near a creek heated up by a fire. It does sound wonderful doesn't it. Adventurous. Privacy though??

Hi Shell and All,
I've not been out for a walk yet today. I like the sound of your walk Shell on the breakwater path. I remember as a kid growing up near a shipping route, we would sometimes hear the ships fog horns and I would hope the ships kept safe.
Yesterday's walk was good once I got going! The mist and fog was around until mid morning. I saw some small webs on bushes, dew tot he drizzle and moisture, they looked like they were covered in crystals and were so pretty.
I'm trying to find some enthusiasm to drag some dead branches from various heaps to the bon fire spot. Really struggling to find the energy!
Hope you enjoy a walk today! Cheers from Dools

Oh a fog horn, that is what they are called. Didn't know that.
I am imagining a women dragging some branches with leaves on them to someplace where there are other branches and leaves. Dragging across dirt, she does look weighed down some. But then she dusts her hands off with a bit of a clap, after she let's go of the branches she was dragging. She is feeling relieved and glad she did it.
Is that how it was?
Yeah thankyou, I haven't been walking as yet. We have driven to a hospital about 40 mins from our place. So when the hospital thing is finished, I am hoping to walk somewhere around here. A place where I have not walked before.
It is fairly sunny.
Gentle hug Mrs D

Today we drove up a winding steepish hill. We parked up in a rocky parking area. By rocky I mean the area was gravel, dirt and with pot holes. We looked over the mountain and saw the valley below. Dotted with a few houses.
Then we decided to walk up the fire trail. Except we didn't know it was one, until we saw the sign a little way up. The trail was all dirt with small stones with many rocky sections. And it was steep. It did feel good walking up it even though I was puffing. We could see some of way below through the gaps in the trees. The crops whatever they were looked like patchwork quilts. A bit like the view from a plane I guess. Very lush and green too.
We walked until the trail was level, we decided not to walk further then that, as the trail dropped down even more steeply.
So we turned around and walked back.

Hi Shell,
I has a shocker of a morning and didn't wan to be here so I packed some lunch, made a thermos of hot chocolate and took off for a drive and a walk after leaving my husband a message to let him know what was happening.
I ended up in national park and walked for an hour. It was flat country, very dry with sparse tree and bush coverage. I saw some kangaroos and a few different birds.
Suddenly storm clouds came over and I tried to hide under a sparse bush! I was soon soaked and then the rain disappeared again. I had an hour's walk back to my car again.
I sat in the car and soon warmed up again, I had my lunch and drink then drove home.
Your walk sounded interesting Shell. Must be nice to see some greenery. It is so dry here.
I might do the dead tee branches tomorrow before work! Yes, I will be dragging them onto a pile I am creating.
Cheers to you an all reading from Dools.

Hello Mrs D,
I am not sure if you will see it this way at the moment. But your walk sounded adventurous to me despite the storm and getting soaked. And then warming up with a hot chocolate inside your car. And even the getting away for a few hours from your place sounds like a mini holiday. And the walking good too.
Did you find it helpful at all to you, the getting away and walking plus the picnic inside your car? Maybe get a new perspective of things, or a bit of rest within yourself?
I am sorry it was such a shocker earlier on. Don't know what else to say they. Wish I could say something that would encourage you or something.
