Hey to anyone reading this.
Last night I had an idea about starting a new thread about exercise especially walking. I am aware that walking is very beneficial for our mental, emotional and physical well being. And by actually doing it....well it can make a huge difference to how we cope with the storms that we face in life.
OK, I am not real good at disciplining myself to walk, and have to really push myself to do it. And sometimes it is even hard to leave this bedroom. Anyway I am not a beginner walker, as I have stuck to sort of a plan before. So I know that it does make me feel somewhat better. But I only stayed on the plan for a couple of months, then gave up.....for whatever reason. So here I am again wanting desperately to not fail this time.
So I guess this thread is for anyone that does walk, anyone that is struggling to walk because of depression or anxiety issues. And anyone else really......
I am unsure of the outcome of all this. But my ideas included: Sharing about things we have found out about exercise especially about walking. Writing down the reasons that one would chose to walk ( like something to help motivate). Being accountable in same way. Sharing about the places where we actually do walk, like the beach, gym, around the block, with the dog, out to the clothesline and back. And any other useful tips that could help others. So here we go......

Hi Elizabeth, it's good to see your name pop up again. I too like camellias. Such an old fashioned type plant. You noticed heaps on your walk. And it sounded beautiful. The view towards the city sounded beautiful as well.

Hi Shell,
I went for another walk this morning. The sun was shining in a clear blue sky and it was about zero degrees! I need to get out a warmer coat to go walking if it is going to be that cold. The garden was all icy due to frost.
I'm really trying hard to find the positives Shell! Thanks for your kind words I greatly appreciate them.
Cheers from Dools

I want walking with my other sister yesterday. We walked on a beach down near where she lives.
While I was waiting for her, I looked over the rail at the coming in waves. They were huge and the water was rough. Others were also looking over the rail. The waves were beautiful in a way all frothy and white, yet a strength about them as they came crashing onto the beach. But nope I wouldn't swim in it. There were not any swimmers that I could see anyway.
A few others were walking and some with their dogs.
We walked up towards where the rocks were. I noticed quite a bit of seaweed that the choppy waves had brought in. And a washed up fish.
We sometimes walked in the water, but it was a challenge to tell how forceful or quick the wave would come in. I did get wet some, but I was happy with that.
We sat down for a while on a couple of large flattish rocks. With our legs dangling down. Every now and then a gentle rush of water would make it up to us. Then woosh, before we noticed it coming in, a much bigger wave come on up and wet my sister quite a bit. My rock was just a little higher so it did not get me. She didn't seem to mind and it helped us to laugh. Which for me felt so very good on the inside. As we walked back the clothing (a long light cardigan thing) she had on that got the most wet was flapping behind her. Like a sail.

Hi Shell,
I enjoyed your beach walking story. It reminded me of one day we had a school field trip to the coast. Part of the day was to sit on the rocks and write a poem. A larger wave came in an totally soaked some of us, me included. Thankfully no one was washed off the rocks into the sea!
This morning I did some stretches instead of going for a walk as it was raining. The rain has stopped now so I might go for a walk in the afternoon when I get home again.
Came home yesterday and was very surprised to find 3 kangaroos in the front yard, close to the front door. Looked like they were about to come in for a visit!
Cheers for now from Dools

I am imagining the 3 kangaroos near a front door, so do you have grass there in that spot and is it normal for them to be so close to dwellings?
Good on you for doing stretches Mrs D. I really want to do some as well. But never get around to it. Just not disciplined enough in that area or something, or it's not fun maybe?
Hey I am glad my beach story gave you perhaps some happy memories. It actually sounds so nice sitting on a rock writing poems in the fresh ocean air.
Gentle hug to you Mrs D.
I am about to head on out to the beach and walk now. I did walk a little in a small town this morning. Noticed a beautiful old world building. Which is opened on the weekends. So I am going to see if I can take a walk in that. I really want to see inside. It did have formal looking gardens with rose bushes growing in them. Would be really pretty when they are all in bloom

Hi Shell and All,
I haven't seen a kangaroo that close to the house before and maybe have seen 5 on on our property in 10 years apart from the 3 yesterday. We have no grass here at all as it is so dry, so that is why it was surprising to see them.
Feeling rather tired today so no energy for a walk. The stretches were good though as I am quite stiff and sore all over! A massage would be nice!
Hope to encourage myself to go for a walk tomorrow.
Walking along a beach sounds wonderful. Hope you manage to get to see inside the building as well!
Cheers to yo and all from Dools
