Hey to anyone reading this.
Last night I had an idea about starting a new thread about exercise especially walking. I am aware that walking is very beneficial for our mental, emotional and physical well being. And by actually doing it....well it can make a huge difference to how we cope with the storms that we face in life.
OK, I am not real good at disciplining myself to walk, and have to really push myself to do it. And sometimes it is even hard to leave this bedroom. Anyway I am not a beginner walker, as I have stuck to sort of a plan before. So I know that it does make me feel somewhat better. But I only stayed on the plan for a couple of months, then gave up.....for whatever reason. So here I am again wanting desperately to not fail this time.
So I guess this thread is for anyone that does walk, anyone that is struggling to walk because of depression or anxiety issues. And anyone else really......
I am unsure of the outcome of all this. But my ideas included: Sharing about things we have found out about exercise especially about walking. Writing down the reasons that one would chose to walk ( like something to help motivate). Being accountable in same way. Sharing about the places where we actually do walk, like the beach, gym, around the block, with the dog, out to the clothesline and back. And any other useful tips that could help others. So here we go......

Just got back from walking up to the shop and back. It is about a 40 minute walk all up. I did not walk as fast as I normally do. Been emotionally struggling some plus I am feeling tired. But I am super glad I did walk.
I was listening to music as I walked. Singing in my head. However I did notice several May Bushes in bloom. A beautiful mass of tiny white flowers. A few people had them in the front yards. I also smelt some sweet flower smell, not sure what it was.

Hey dear Paws, thankyou for reading what I wrote. And yes I really did enjoy making the sand castles.
What sort of exercise do you do? And I have not forgotten about the horse riding

Hello Shell,
I have taken a leaf out of Grandy's book & bought myself a pedal machine as a way of gently getting back into doing exercise & losing weight. I'm hoping to gradually increase my strength & ability to do more.
Disappointingly I read further on the horse riding site I had hoped to go to & they have a weight limit of 100kgs for riders. I am over the weight limit ( I won't say how much over... hangs head) so I am going to try to use that as an incentive to help get this weight off with riding as a reward.

Hey Paws
Just letting you quickly I am going with my sister, she is driving out to feed my Nieces horse. Not sure what to expect...
I hear you about hanging your head, because I do that too. Mine is to do with feeling shame then self conscious about how my body is. It's a tricky one.
Good on you pedalling that pedal thing.
Ok see you

This afternoon I visited a property that has a horse boarding there. We were there to give him some feed. I walked a little to the shed were the feed was, then walked carrying 3 hay biscuits to where the horse was. I noticed quite a few kangaroos in amongst the clearing. It was quite a beautiful place, with many trees and it felt peaceful.
My sister carried a bucket with other feed in it. I was to distract the horse by throwing the biscuits over the fence, but he was not distracted. Apparently he would rather eat the other feed, maybe it tasted better I don't know. I did get the opportunity to pat his face and he nuzzled my hand. I think he was sniffing the hay?? He had a gentle face and kind eyes.
He kept poking is head though the fence to get at the bucket of feed my sister was mixing up. He was pretty cute. We filled up the trough with fresh water.
So yeah I only walked a short distabd today.

Went for a walk up to the tyre place and back. The walk went up a slight hill. It felt good to feel the strong breeze on me. It took me around 20 mins.
The breeze was so strong an aluminium can tummbled along near the gutter. Even now as I write this I can hear the wind howling outside. I don't know, I quite like it.

Hello Shell,
It sounds like your visit to the horse was very peaceful. I'm glad you felt he had a gentle face & kind eyes, I think they are traits that most horses have.
You were very good going for a walk with the wind howling, I prefer to be snug indoors out of the wind these days.
Take care
Paws
