Walking Shoes - Walking and Other Exercise

Hey to anyone reading this.

Last night I had an idea about starting a new thread about exercise especially walking. I am aware that walking is very beneficial for our mental, emotional and physical well being. And by actually doing it....well it can make a huge difference to how we cope with the storms that we face in life.

OK, I am not real good at disciplining myself to walk, and have to really push myself to do it. And sometimes it is even hard to leave this bedroom. Anyway I am not a beginner walker, as I have stuck to sort of a plan before. So I know that it does make me feel somewhat better. But I only stayed on the plan for a couple of months, then gave up.....for whatever reason. So here I am again wanting desperately to not fail this time.

So I guess this thread is for anyone that does walk, anyone that is struggling to walk because of depression or anxiety issues. And anyone else really......

I am unsure of the outcome of all this. But my ideas included: Sharing about things we have found out about exercise especially about walking. Writing down the reasons that one would chose to walk ( like something to help motivate). Being accountable in same way. Sharing about the places where we actually do walk, like the beach, gym, around the block, with the dog, out to the clothesline and back. And any other useful tips that could help others. So here we go......

Walked on the treadmill in the front room again. Walked for just over 30mins whilst listening to encouraging and beautiful music. Some with a lot of quick rhythm as it often helps me walk faster. Felt good after.

Currently sitting in the car after walking out here near thd beach. I can here the waves.

I walked for 45minutes on this path..... Starting to rain now more heavy like. Just made it back.

It felt good to feel that the muscles in my legs were stronger, as I walked up a few hilly sections. But I got puffed out.

The sand and parts of the ocean looked a purple colour as the light was fading, when I started out. The ocean is quite black now.

Dear Shell~

Hope you are dong OK. I realy like listening to the howling wind when tucked up snug before the fire (with Sumo Cat of course)

Sometimes it means there are some things need fixing the next day, not a big hassle.

I used to do a lot of race-horse exercising on the tarmack roads around my neighbor's house, I'd not recommend this as a pastime though.

They are just a likely as to jump and skitter at a horse-eating chewing gum wrapper as a bicycle..

Still that's just racehorses. If you can find a hack that is gentle and likes you then you will find it great.

Hello Croix,

That's interesting about you exercising race horses. Was it part of your work then?

I have been looking for a place that I could take horse riding lessons actually. I have found a place about 1 hour or so drive from my place. Lessons seem quite expensive, but this place has a reduction in fees at the moment.

Hope you are doing OK too Croix. I am getting through one day at a time. Been struggling a fair bit lately. Currently I am massaging this mixture of essential oil into my head. Pretty bad headache. It smells so nice, lavender, peppermint and lime oil. Got to sleep now, appreciate you popping in here.

Today I went walking with my sister in that historical town that I have written about before on here.

We chatted as we walked around like we usually do. We often chat about people's gardens. There are a lot of beautiful cottage and formal looking gardens around this town. We noticed a rose in full bloom, it smelt so good and pretty. We even came across a mulberry tree and ate a couple of mulberries from it.

It was quite refreshingly breezy.

i like a walk and talk and through a historic town. It is a lovely way to catch up with people.

Sorry I haven't been up to posting much Walks are too restricted to be very interesting although today went to a park which was recently created from a quarry. We walked down the winding paths to the lake at the bottom before returning a different way. Weather was unpredictable rain then sun then back. At least the wind has settled. I'm not enjoying wind ATM after the recent storms left us without power or drinking water for 48 hrs & then another storm destroyed my fence.

We sat in the car facing the park & ate lunch. I'd picked up some Hawaiian rolls at the supermarket earlier. It was nice to be away from home. Eating out (even if just in a car) felt very decadent with all our restrictions.
