Hey to anyone reading this.
Last night I had an idea about starting a new thread about exercise especially walking. I am aware that walking is very beneficial for our mental, emotional and physical well being. And by actually doing it....well it can make a huge difference to how we cope with the storms that we face in life.
OK, I am not real good at disciplining myself to walk, and have to really push myself to do it. And sometimes it is even hard to leave this bedroom. Anyway I am not a beginner walker, as I have stuck to sort of a plan before. So I know that it does make me feel somewhat better. But I only stayed on the plan for a couple of months, then gave up.....for whatever reason. So here I am again wanting desperately to not fail this time.
So I guess this thread is for anyone that does walk, anyone that is struggling to walk because of depression or anxiety issues. And anyone else really......
I am unsure of the outcome of all this. But my ideas included: Sharing about things we have found out about exercise especially about walking. Writing down the reasons that one would chose to walk ( like something to help motivate). Being accountable in same way. Sharing about the places where we actually do walk, like the beach, gym, around the block, with the dog, out to the clothesline and back. And any other useful tips that could help others. So here we go......

Ha ha, that good Skye, I'm pleased.
I'm feeling really tired this afternoon. My Pilates this morning has worn me out! ( - :
Maybe I'll sleep tonight? That'd be nice.

Sherie,
I really hope you are able to sleep tonight!
I don't know if it will help or not but I drink this herbal tea called Sleepy Me before going to bed. Something to try?

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll have a look around for it. I currently try a herbal capsule, which seems to make no difference at all.

Hi Everyone,
I have been looking at some of these posts and have been inspired to start waling again.
I'm very blessed to live in a rural region. I went for an early morning walk a couple of days ago and enjoyed the scene of the sheep in a dusty, wind swept paddock. The rising sun was behind them and all the sheep looked like they were lined with gold. I'd never seen that before.
The snake along the side of the road had my heart beating double time until I realised the poor thing was dead. It was only a short distance from our home!
A couple of days ago a lady gave me a brand new pair of sandshoes in my size that she decided she didn't want. They are excellent for walking in, so comfortable and spongy!
I'm looking forward to another walk tomorrow! Cheers all from Dools

Hello Dools
I recognise you from the "three things to be thankful thread". Well I recognize your name as the starter of that thread. Anyway I also welcome you, and if you like hugs..... I will give you one.
It sounds like your walk was a beautiful one, apart from you getting scared by the snake that is. But even that still sounds like a bit of an adventure to me.
With much love to you Dools

Hi Elizabeth,
Yes I agree it is very hard to maintain motivation when things arent going well in your life. But you did well with your swim and then all the steps. And it sounds like you really pushed yourself to the extent that you felt exhausted afterwards. So that would have achieved all the good things required of exercise. So well done!
So Shelley Anne's thread here is achieving its purpose of getting people focused on the importance of exercise and the benefits of it. Keep reporting back here Elizabeth. Both your successes as well as any perceived failures. We may be able to convince you that what you see as a failure, in reality is not a failure at all.

Hi Elizabeth CP,
Yes, I was very fortunate to be given the shoes, they are a brand I would never be able to afford myself, and they are a lovely bright colour as well...so they will make me walk quicker. Ha. Ha.
I didn't get out for my walk this morning so hope to go out in the early evening.
Sometimes it is hard to keep doing things that we know are good for us. If I don't succeed in a walk today, then I will try a little harder to ensure I get out tomorrow.
Cheers all and happy WALKING!
