I have been struggling eating and eating healthy foods over the last couple of weeks. I really do not want to go back further to how I use to eat, that is eating junk food, takeaways, copious amounts of chocolate, processed junk and comfort eating.

Finding it challenging to stay motivated to actually prepare what I know helps me feel better mentally, emotionally and physically. Plus I have been feeling overwhelmed with other stuff happening in my life, which somehow makes it more challenging. The old unhealthy comfort eating thing is coming back. And I think I am getting concerned and scared about that. I so much do not want to go back to how I use to be. I was so sick. Plus I now have some physical things not right in my body , so I need to be more careful and mindful of what I eat. ( Pre cancer cells , high blood pressure )

I was eating really well since Febuary of this year, it’s just the last couple of weeks I haven’t.

So I would like to use this thread to help me be accountable to Beyond Blue people. So like a diary where I can post and report what I eat. And also any healthy eating tips, motivating strategies to help eat better or anything related to healthy eating for our bodies including our mental health.

That V8 juice has been out for a while hasn't it. I sometimes juice my own juices. I have not tasted tomato juice, but I have tasted carrot and celery.

Yes, Shelley, it's an awful lot. As I said, two months' wages for a pauper like me. Hard to absorb considering what I make already goes mostly on bills, disposable income isn't really a thing in my house. It was a necessary evil though, the wisdoms were causing me some grief. Not being in pain now (as I was before surgery) - definitely a thing to be thankful for.

I did see that you'd made hazelnut milk. Sounds really tasty. I usually use soy milk (Vitasoy, it's way nicer than So Good) for anything I need a lot of milk for, as it's inexpensive as well as pretty good. I can get away with a little cow's milk, so I still get that for my coffee, I much prefer it in there but am happy with soy for cereal. I did try the lactose free cow's milk at one stage, but I guess the A1 protein disagrees with me as well, because I found that in some ways worse on my stomach - also too expensive.

You're welcome. I do hope that you can see that your efforts are something to be proud of. You just pick back up and start anew if there's a hiccup, and that's an admirable quality.

No rush to make falafels. I often take a while to get to new recipes myself, but when I have a bit of free time and the right mood to make new things, it's great to have something there and ready to have a go at.

Have you tried the falafels at subway Blue? I have had them a couple of times.

Today I am starting day 1 again. Yesterday was not so good food wise. I am also going to experiment by making some oat milk.

Can't say I've tried them. My brother says they're good. Hope the oat milk goes well, sounds tasty.

I've seen that quote before, and I like it. Mistakes don't have to be a thing to fear, they are how we learn and improve. 🙂

Blue: did you know you can get a tablet from the pharmacy called lacteeze. It is a tablet that helps breakdown lactose. Basically lactose is a two sugar unit, we need an enzyme to break it down, if we don't have enough of that enzyme it can cause gas, bloating diarrhea etc. Basically lactose intolerance. SO the lacteeze tablet basically is the enzyme. That's what lactose free milk has. The put drops of the enzyme the milk so it is already broken down to the sugar units (that's why it tastes sweeter)

Shelley: I need to make more stuff. I've been a bit lazy of late. But oh well. I still make dinner and freeze them.

Hi all, hello Ms Purple and Blue

Tonight I made meat tacos for the rest of the family. And a plant based one for myself. Basically, I water fry onion, red capsicum, mushroom, garlic and grated carrot. Then add a tin of tomatoes, tomato paste, cumin, ground corrinder, pepper and vegan beef stock. I think that is it. I then take a ladle full of this and add chickpeas to it. This is my portion. I add browned mince to the other.

For myself, I added 2 handfuls of mixed green lettuce leaves to a bowl, then added some corn kernels, some of the chickpea taco mixture and topped all this with cashew sour cream. Mmmm so good!

For brunch, I made mixed veggies of onion, broccoli, tomato, tofu and I cannot recall what else was in there.

I did not make it a whole day without any junk though. So back to day 1 again tomorrow.

Well the time has come (overdue!) for me to get serious Shelley.

I have a cold and don’t feel great so obviously that doesn’t help but today is the first day it’s cold enough here for me to wear a jumper and what a terrible sight! I don’t see myself often so I guess I spend a lot of time in denial about how fat I am.

I did not make it a whole day without junk. I ate a packet of oreos. The whole packet.

The rest of the day I had 2 fresh juices. They had carrots, apple and lemon. I juiced them myself. For lunch I made hot chips. Just boiled them a bit and then finished them off in the oven. There is no oil this way.

For dinner I was not hugely hungry. Just ate a small serving of brown basmati rice with veggies. I also ate a mandarine.
