We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.

Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!

Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.

Best wishes
EM

My 3 self-cares today:
~ slept in! Yay lol
~ observed a financial hiccup with zero emotion lol, gotta love that.. letting go of the things that bother me, shows me that things are ALWAYS working out for me - and you too!
~ taking the path of least resistance had a peaceful resolution, so it's a new habit lol.

Hi all,

I've lost track of this thread somewhat, but a few things stood out to me as I had a quick read over the last page. EM, you said you've been going to the beach! That's exciting as I know you've been missing it and weren't feeling like you could get there. Really proud you could do that.

Eagle Ray, you said a while back: "Humans were not safe for me as a child so I climbed trees, interacted with animals, explored the local bushland..." etc. Holy cow did I relate to that. I wasn't overtly abused, neglect was my start in life and has continued to be a real theme throughout adulthood, and nature - including those wild and wooly storms you mentioned - is always the most calming thing. I think I've said this elsewhere, but I find a huge part of why nature is calming is because it demands nothing from us. Notice how everything manmade is asking us to use it or clean it or maintain it or keep track of the time or buy something? Nature doesn't do that, it just is.

My self cares:

- Sat outside in the garden with LM. We watched the fledgeling birds that have started their lives here.

- Have been making a habit of mediation. Specifically trying to separate myself from unhelpful thoughts.

- Also making a habit of regular exercise. Nothing too strenuous, just some squats and weights to keep me limber and able to take care of LM better. I have found the muscles I have developed so well at work aren't the main ones I need for being a carer. Revelation!

Kind thoughts to everyone,

Blue.

Thanks Clues of Blue.

Yes, that is so true. Nature demands nothing of us which is such a wonderful break from all the other things we need to manage, clean, take care of etc. It allows us to ‘just be’. I could happily just be in it all day everyday, exploring and just communing with all other beings, rocks, trees etc.

Self-care today is:

1. Being at my favourite place by the ocean again, listening to waves and feeling the last warmth of sun before it sets.

2. Researching stuff to help me work through stuff I’m trying to process at the moment.

3. Enjoying seeing a mother kangaroo and her joey when walking home from the shops.

Lol I'm glad your nature demands nothing of you peeps lol. The POSSUMS here are so demanding! And the Brush Turkeys, the Cockatoos and Lorikeets and King Parrots get bossy with me too.

I guess I need "healthier boundaries" hahaha.

My self-care today:
~ I went to the beach with my daughters and grand children
~ went for a long walk on the beach, collected shells and showed these to my grandchildren naming each one and what type of sea creature lives in each one.
~ flew a KITE! A lovely elderly man from somewhere in Europe came up to us with a piece of paper to show us what he and his family did when flying kites when he was a child. He tore a hole in a piece of paper and put it around the Kite string. He said "This is a letter to Heaven". Awwww.
The letter climbs up and up the string till it reached the TOP and stayed there.

~ took rescue poodle with us lol he had a BALL
~ collected some salty water bleached driftwood sticks to make our Christmas Tree this year.

I enjoyed Meditating but they've become habit so I'll just make a note of doing this here and there now. xxxx

Making a FEAST for dinner as all my kids living here will be home for dinner tonight yay!
Gotta catch them when they are lol.

Many Blessings everyone

~ ate a healthy salad for lunch. I only buy healthy food now, so it's all there is to eat! MANGOES are my faves lol
~ kept this bod moving! Stairs all the way.
~ set my alarm for 30 minutes earlier than usual and had a beautiful Dr Joe Meditation before my COLD shower lol
~ had a warm shower to wash my hair then turned it to COLD to shake my mind into action and control it (Tony Robbins technique). It's working!

Exuding strength, happiness and wellbeing. LOVE IT!

Just letting everyone know that I'll be offline from the forums to spend alot more time in my REAL life lol!
It's time.
I feel very comfortable with this decision, it's been on my mind for a while now.

So I wish everyone the very best for improvements in their mental HEALTH.
It truly is the lynch pin for living a whole hearted life which I wish for every single person here and in the WORLD!

Ignore everyone who tells you it's not possible to achieve, they are not the dictators of your life.
You are.
