Dear All
The purpose of this thread is as a meeting point for those that can’t sleep and it is late (I.E. AFTER midnight.)
It can be a useful space for users to share their issues with insomnia as well as coping strategies. It can also be a general space for users to converse and support one another throughout a difficult night.
Please note – for those that are just bored or lonely we already have a place - the BB Café, which I recommend instead of here

Hi I qualify. It's 2 something in the am. I have always been awake because of fighting in my house since i was a little girl. I'm 15 and cannot get to sleep usually until 1am if it is a school night if it isn't then I can stay up until 4am. When I get my period i cannot fall asleep the few days before I get it. Anyway, Hi, Nice to meet you guys.
Tanja.

not really quirky, to answer your q, but i didnt take it for vry long.
has anyone had any success with any natural remedies eg varlarian root?
nothing much works for me.
my gp always tells me to excercise, but today i told him pretty straight
"I do (not enough, but still, I do).... but I don't think those things work for insomnia from PTSD"
he didn't disagree.
Although i keep an open mind it always drove me batty when someone would suggest i could cure my years of insomnia with warm milk.
Anyone else find that those obvious suggestions are a bit frustrating?
I wish I could drink milk and be lulled into a beautiful slumber, but for me, thats not the kind of insomnia i have. I think that is more for ppl who are just having one or two bad nights, and need a lttle something to soothe into the sleep process.
Yes lol I've tried hot milk before bed. It didn't wrk for me.

the magnesium wasn't too bad, seemed to help a little, but not overall in a big way. i didn't take it for very long. thanks for the suggestion quirky, it may be worth looking into.
I'm curious also about valerian. I've trained rain sounds before bed but I didn't love them.... a little boring, but i am a fan of sleep stories and hypnosis, if anyone knows any good cds or practioners who have cds i'd be keen to know 🙂
I used to listen to the free Sleep Stories on Calm.
I guess it could be any story, u just put it on and tuen out. I liked also hypnosis cds which would walk you through a soothing scene, it was a fun break from worry anyway, and most times it led to sleep.

l've never been morning person , and l mean l'm that dopey when l first wake up l can't even put together what someone says to me and l couldn't care less l don't wanna know anyway, just stay away from me. People don't understand it though but usually try not to bother me mostly non the less. lf they do though honestly, sometimes l feel like roaring at them to just get the hell outa my face leave me alone and l have sometimes too. l always feel so ashamed and guilty for days after if l did and l'm all oligopolies later when l wake up properly and having to explain my morning thing yet again. But if they'd just give me a bloody hr , all would be well in the world.
At any rate , as l've said l've been training myself well over a yr now back into sleeping again but now that l do l need more and more and l'm tireder than ever. lt's crazy. A few times lately l go for siesta after work and l just wanna keep sleeping later when l do wake up , rest of the night from there. Might only be 5 in the afternoon or something though, it's crazy.
And , on top of that l'm getting mostly a good 7, 8 even 9 hrs at night too now lately, but sometimes siesta could also end up going 2hrs on top of that too, so that's a lot of sleep. Yet l'm tireder than ever. My gf's like that but at least she has an excuse with the stress and mess she's going through atm but she sleeps at least 12 hours a day usually more , 13. 14, with few hrs in the afternoon in that too. lf she doesn't get her afternoon siesta she's just a mess the rest of the night. She's as bright as when she is awake though and full of life , at least that's something. Well when she's here at mine she is again anyway but when she's up home and with everything she's going through there nah, she's mostly depressed and stressed when she is awake , very understandably though.
Can't work myself out though. l'm def' sleeping again though that's for sure, more than ever, yet l'm tireder than ever.

Random I have never been a morning person even when my children were young and I had to get them ready for school.
The other thing I tried was melatonin but it didnt help, has it helped anyone.

IT's always seemed the most foreign thing to anyone around me quirk , they just don't understand. l sometimes have to leave at 6 or about for a job though and with a work thing l can get up shower and be sort of normal in 30mins when l have to but that is no where near an everyday morng for me. Normal for me is at least an hr but preferably two.
