Dear All
The purpose of this thread is as a meeting point for those that can’t sleep and it is late (I.E. AFTER midnight.)
It can be a useful space for users to share their issues with insomnia as well as coping strategies. It can also be a general space for users to converse and support one another throughout a difficult night.
Please note – for those that are just bored or lonely we already have a place - the BB Café, which I recommend instead of here

Has anyone found that when they do start sleeping again , they end up needing even more and sleep ?
l've been in training well over 12mths now and went from 2, 3, 4 hrs a night for yrs to now to now a good regular 6 or 7, sometimes 8 a night. Reasonable hr , 12ish -1. And l've got into the habit of an afternoon siesta too after work , that could be 20 mins to 2hrs.
Yet these days now , l'm always bloody tired , l was never tired when l was sleeping much. lt doesn't make sense .
Ps , l can't sleep without a clock , if l don;t have the time handy l tend to lay awake wondering all night. But if l keep a clock l just check the time and then know l still have whatever hours left to sleep and l'll just nod of again.

Hi Harpbird,
That sounds super comfortable.
Falling asleep to the sound of rain is my favourite thing. We had a little rain earlier but it’s stopped now.

Hey Quirky, you're welcome.
How are you doing all in all?
I think about you alot and wonder how you're doing.
Hey rx,
Sure for a while, like 2 years lol, I found that when I was able to get a continuous 4-6h sleep per night (which was INCREDIBLY more than before) yes I was tired throughout the day.
For me it took a lot of discipline, like a LOT.
Well over half a Century of sleep habits that were just all over the place takes a long haul of RE-conditioning.
With the kids needing to be picked up after midnight so often during the week, I often have a nap after I drop them off. I'm a bit OCD about it, I count the hours I napped if they were hours, then take that off what I KNOW I need for the rest of the night.
Once the kids all have their driver's licenses then I guess I'll have more boring sleep routines to make lol ugh!
What works for me is being physically tired, having enough to eat, knowing the kids are all safe and having a comfortable bed.
Walking the kajillion steps at work each day really helps! omg.
Gardening on the weekends is another exhauster.

Maybe my second favourite sound to fall asleep to is the sound of the waves at the beach.
I saw and heard the sea today for the first time in years. Quite emotional for me and I wish I could have spent the whole day there. The cold didn’t seem to matter.
Hello to all those awake tonight.
