Meditation, Manifesting, Gratitude & The Law of Attraction

Hi everyone,

Not sure where to start so hope I can express myself clearly and maybe with others' input we can expand on this. I'm interested in people's thoughts/ experience with meditation, manifesting, gratitude & the law of attraction. I've recently started using the Smiling Mind app to meditate when going to sleep and sometimes when feeling a little anxious, like tonight. It is something i thought i could never do as my mind rarely stops, however, with persistence, I find I enjoy it. I guess i tend to have a negative mindset which I am determined to change.I always felt uneasy about thinking positive things as i thought i would jinx myself, and that whenever I made a positive comment or felt happy it would go wrong or something negative would happen. So i refrained from allowing myself to be too happy, I guess to 'protect' myself. Recently i have been feeling happier, stronger, expressing gratitude and taking note of when things have come to me when i needed them. Coincidence, or answers to what i put out to the Universe? I like to think the latter. A work colleague one day told me to manifest something i wanted, put it out to the universe , so I'm trying. Example, recently we needed to measure the floor space at reception so we could calculate how many people we could have in at one time. I needed a tape measure, which i did not have. At that moment our handyman walked into the office. Guess what he had? I am getting into the habit of practising positive thinking instead of thinking/expecting negatives. If something 'negative' does crop up, it can be dealt with, it's not the end of the world. I look for the positive in every negative situation. I am becoming more aware of being grateful for little things, things like getting a good car park at work, a warn cosy bed, a tidy house. I feel when i am expressing gratitude I am putting positive thoughts out into the universe and I notice more positives instead of focusing on negatives. Late last week we had internet issues at work and a colleague i found a little annoying. I've been feeling very drained, agitated, negative for a few days. This morning things were not running smoothly for me. A result of my negative mind perhaps? Little things became a big deal, my morning was crap. If i look back, it wasn't really an issue, i just did things in a different order which gave me more relax time this evening. The Law of Attraction, positive thoughts, positive experiences.

What are your thoughts?

It can be so hard when meditating on something we really need the answer to. If we're tapping into the optimist in us, the realist or the sage, we can gain 3 different perspectives or lots of answers. I've found that sometimes the answer doesn't just come from one facet, it can involve a combination. 'There is a way forward. It may not be clear but it is there' (the optimist). 'Only imagine what serves you and bring that into your reality. Manifest your reality' (the realist). 'Some things are sent to test us, leading us to graduate to higher levels of self understanding and life experience. Have faith in your ability to graduate, like you have done many times before in your life' (the sage).

While there can be what feels like a team of depressing facets within us, making life feel kinda like hell on earth at times (such as when the pessimist, the saboteur, the inner critic in us get together), I believe there can also be a divine kind of team that can lead us to a sense of ease and progress, a sense of heaven on earth. Btw, I've found my inner saboteur to be a challenging one to deal with. While it can promise a sense of happiness or relief, it's typically not through the best way forward. 'You know you'd feel so much happier with a whole block of Cadbury dairy milk chocolate' 😊. While it speaks the truth, it remains the same part of me that led me to weigh 95kgs before I started to lose the weight my knees could no longer carry, without crying out in pain. That saboteur's a shifty one and definitely not good for our mental, physical and soulful sense of wellbeing.

I hear you therising.  I just keep wondering why the Universe needed me to see that.

Something funny... the house was staged & had sane rug as mine. My last card reading mentioned moving house & hin having lots of reminders of me. Well the rig is another, not that I think he'd remember.  I feel my readings pick up on his stuff sometimes not mine. More confusing..

Funny thing  in the back of my mind I have thought I'd eventually come across their property at work. Funny I came across it in it's final stage. It just seems whenever I feel good & moving on something pops up. Every time.

I was almost tempted to message him & tell him I saw the file at work & wish him well. I just have this feeling in the pit of my stomach that I can't get closure. Everytime I feel ok something pops up. A message, a sign. Why? Why do things keep popping up that set me back? Maybe I need to make contact for closure?

A few months back I mentioned another old friend who popped into my mind. I felt I'd bump into him somewhere.  Well I haven't but since my other friend reached out last week (we were part of the same group) I thought why not send him a message? Well he replied! I explained why i messaged & about our other friend reaching out etc. I asked what he's been up to & as soon as I sent it saw 555. I'm still very rattled by my ex & not looking to start anything with anyone but feel I need to surround myself with people who might be good for my soul & a nice distraction.

We've been messaging all day. He's had a rough few years but we've laughed a bit today. We plan to catch up for coffee in next couple of weeks.

Had a card reading.  She said me picking up the file at work re my ex was like closure. The house is gone with memories of him & his sis. The friend overseas that messaged me was like a messenger to push me in the direction of reaching out to the friend I was chatting to today. She said the one overseas will probably disappear from the scene now that his job is done. The one I've chatted with today will become a good friend, maybe more. We have lots in common & both not ready for a relationship. We both still need time to ourselves but we'll connect & be able to be ourselves & comfortable around each other. She said there will be sparks & a connection. What a week! Just the way it all unfolded.

I sense my friend is not in a good place. He seems sad. When I messaged him he said he was great, but I don't think so. He told me tonight he's in the same place as me. Needs to be on his own after what he's been thru last 2 years. He also doesn't go out much. He seemed bit quieter tonight. Maybe tired, maybe sad like I get sometimes. Maybe sick of talking to me haha. We have been chatting all day.  He doesn't seem ready to catch up for coffee yet. He said in a couple of weeks but the cards said sooner, like this weekend. He may be a bit anxious like me. I think we just get each other on the same page. Would be really nice to have a friend that understands & move on from the ex. Lots of lessons learned.

Hi CMF

There's definitely been a lot happening in your life, including an interesting reading. The sale of the house as a sense of closure is an interesting one. Very well could be the case. What better way to close things off than a 'There's no choice, there's no going back to that place' scenario.

Not sure if I've mentioned before but I like to imagine life to be a bit of a landscape. There are some mountains to climb, some valleys to navigate through, certain paths that can appear brilliant and perfectly clear and certain paths that appear so dark to the point where we can be left to wonder whether we'll ever see light again. There can be little village type scenarios (clearings, nestled in the thick of forests) where we can stop and rest, while also meeting some amazing people there. We are travelers without a map, navigators and pioneers of what is yet to be explored. We draw the map as we go along, while occasionally including what lies ahead (in the way of goals or destinations to reach). As travelers, sometimes we need guides or sign posts (signs of some type). Sometimes synchronicity, meaningful coincidence and things like that become our signs.

I think it's true that in some cases someone may come into our life simply to indicate a new path. 'Over here! Don't take that path, take this one'. They point us in the right direction. Here you are on a new path, thanks to an old friend. It sounds like a fascinating and wonderful path, full of potential and plenty to wonder about.
