JUICING for mental health

I've recently bought a juicer and have been making fruit/veg juices and have noticed it making a difference to my mental health. I'm clearer, more energized and I just know I'm giving my body many health benefits by drinking pure extracted fruits and vegetables. I thought I'd start this thread for us juicers or wannabe juicers to share juicing recipes. It's become my new "thing".

You can also add 1 med peeled lime to the papaya smoothie.
And/or a bit of ginger depending on what your taste is.
You could even throw some baby spinach in there.
* Lately I've been adding LSA ( linseed, sunflower seed, almond meal) to smoothies to increase the protein/ fat content. You can find LSA mix at your local supermarket.

Hey monkey
Yeah LOVE LSA! lol. I sprinkle it on my cereal which I prefer eating for dessert lol.
I'm going to sprout some more Chia seeds for my juice & add a lime and lemon tomorrow.
So the recipe is:
* oranges
* 1 lime
* 1 lemon.
After juicing:
* add a few teaspoons of pomegranate seeds, &
* sprouted Chia seeds.
Drink!

Today I made an apple, cucumber, celery, lemon juice.
You could really taste the celery which I'm not a huge fan of but I drank it to be healthy.
Finally bought myself some scales so I can see if I'm losing weight or not. I know I'm healthier.
Happy new year to all of you!

Ice
Ripe banana
Ripe mango
Baby spinach
Milk
It's chilled, sweet and flavoursome. I've had this smoothie on repeat. Need to use up the box of mangoes and bananas I bought.

Hi all,
That last smoothie sounds super creamy MM. Is it?
I started that 10 green challenge today. So if anyone else is interested you can still join up. Just go to the website simple green smoothies. It is good for beginners. I have done a few of their challenges. And there is a fun component to it. Which I think I need to have in my life at the moment. Just a bit of fun. The fun is there is a bingo card that you complete. You attempt to cross off as many little tasks as you can. The more you do the more opportunities you have to win a prizes. You cheer each other on in a Facebook challenge group if you would like to.
Anyway I made a smoothie today from their list of 10 smoothie recipes. A Mango Strawberry smoothie. It was lightly sweet and fruity. You cannot taste the spinach in it at all.

I also signed up to something today. Ive got 6 months to lose 17kgs. I pay $100 mnth for 6 mnths and if I reach my goal they pay me back $1410 so I make $810 profit. If I don't reach my goal they keep my money. I thought it would be a huge motivator to lose the weight. It's bigger in America than here but I found out about it and joined.
My smoothie was creamy. I also couldn't taste the spinach.
Think I'll check out the 10 day green challenge actually. Doing that now.

I checked it out. It's a 7 day green smoothie challenge.
I downloaded it and checked out the smoothie recipes and they all look yum. Different fruits with kale or spinach. The only gripe I have about it is that they use water instead of coconut water or milk which I'd prefer. So I'll probably make mine with milk. In saying that though their way is probably better for you. I'm just so used to using milk in smoothies.
But then again if orange is one of the ingredients it probably wouldn't go well with milk.
I'm going to give it a go Shell.

Yeah I don't tend to use just plain water in any smoothie. I would use coconut water. It just feels more hydrating to me, properly due to all the electrolytes and such. I noticed coles supermarket had a special on cocobella coconut water last night. The long life one. $2.50 a litre. Thought that was pretty good.
That weight loss thing you signed up for... that sounds quite motivating. An incentive to get all your money back and more.
Just wondering the juices you make... You make enough for a few days, is that right? Do you store them in 1 large bottle. I think that may work better for me to do that. That is make enough for a couple of days. Then I would only need to clean the juicer once.
I haven't done the 7 day one before. Has it got like meal recipes in it as well?

I've been experimenting with water, coconut water and different milks in smoothies. I added low fat milk in today's smoothie and it was delicious. Sometimes I'll add water, sometimes coconut water, sometimes milk.
I have 2L jugs and I try to fill one and it lasts a few days. It depends on the juice I make, some last longer than others. They seperate so you need to stir before consuming.
This weight loss challenge is unreal. It's so motivating. There are so many other ppl doing it as well and you can write to each other on the app. We send photos, motivation, encouragement etc. I'm going to do it again and bet even more money after 6 mnths ( 17kg loss) and make even more money.
As long as I'm losing my weight consistently.
I made a mistake, you were right it's a 10 day smoothie challenge. I saw 7 days of smoothies and got confused.
I watched another documentary about a 30 day smoothie challenge adding greens and many different fruits. He wants you to add a smoothie a day to what you already eat. He's antioxidant levels were off the charts and he was saying how the fruits/ veg fixes what needs to be fixed in the body.

Hi Monks that sounds cool and motivating the program you are doing
diff milks are interesting
I dont mind rice milk on occasion but am not so creative with the others.... Like Coconut and Soy
Wary of Oat and find Almond a bit bland
Like u i'm a fan of plain low fat milk in a smoothie. Milk is quite soothing at times.
Thanks Shell for letting us now about that special on coconut water
