JUICING for mental health

Hi all 👋

I've recently bought a juicer and have been making fruit/veg juices and have noticed it making a difference to my mental health. I'm clearer, more energized and I just know I'm giving my body many health benefits by drinking pure extracted fruits and vegetables. I thought I'd start this thread for us juicers or wannabe juicers to share juicing recipes. It's become my new "thing".

Hey Em,

I'm super duper proud! Oohh a citrusy juice- tangy and lucky chickens 😀

I just bought some coconut milk to soak my chia seeds in. I also bought some toasted coconut flakes and coconut sugar. And some coconut yoghurt while I was at it. Why not.

I'm planning on making a delicious coconut smoothie.

I think I'm living in a newer, healthier light. It was scary what ppl were putting in their trolleys. I never used to care but today I realised just how much crap ppl consume. I'm no angel but I'm so much healthier and educated since watching and absorbing some documentaries.

Shelll- all the ingredients are bought to make that chocolate ( cacao) smoothie. I will give you an update shortly. I'm happy I've bought a large packet of cacao.

hey Monks

the cacoa smoothy will rock

I always have cacoa around the house - I also make healthy hot cocoa with it - sweetened with some maple syrup...

and sometimes sprinkle it in oatmeal. - it's so awesome.

I loved ur list of nutrient dense foods on The Eating for Wellness thread...

Learning about nutrition is something I like too.

U go girl with ur coconut smoothie. xx

Hey Sleepy,

You're talking about the cacao super food right? ( Hope I'm spelling it right). Which is different from cocoa. I bought some maple syrup since it was in Shelll's recipe so chocolate smoothie with a bang here I come.

You can also add oatmeal to smoothies.

And I had my coconut smoothie and super juice tonight.

That's awesome you like learning about nutrition too. Apparently we are what we eat.

Tonight I'm a coconut.

yes sorry my bizarre spelling.... cacao!!

just used for coconut milk hot chocolate with some maple... yum.

coconut smoothie and super juice... u are crushing it.

so much good!

That hot chocolate sounds comforting.

I've now substituted chocolate for cacao, since it's supposed to be healthier. I do however have some dark choc at home.

But yeah bought the cacao for smoothies.

My friend that introduced me to juicing just bought a Nutribullet lol. He's lost a lot of weight from substituting one meal a day with a juice. He always drinks the beet, celery, carrot, apple, watermelon one. He's been doing it for a few months now and has dropped over 10kgs.

So through him I accidentally became a fruit/ veg juice addict. I'm very happy he introduced me to it.

In the documentary I watched the guy went on a 60 day juice diet. He had 6 juices a day 550mls each one. I think you need a lot of willpower to do it. I guess it was his conviction that he felt to cure his illness that kept him going. Plus the benefits.

Hi Shelly!!!!

I like the choc smoothie. Taste like a healthier version of a choc smoothie and it is, lol! I love that I don't even know that I'm drinking spinach!

I added that woman's Instagram, I am now a follower. She has some very different smoothie recipes hey. Smoothies with cauliflower in them, pumpkin in them for eg.

Do you have a favourite smoothie/ juice Shelll? Care to share?

I've been reading about the benefits of many fruits and vegetables and I came across this; thought it was important to share.

Celery juice~

Gives you hydration on a deep cellular level to reduce incidence of migraines, anxiety, and panic attacks.
Reverses brain fog, depression and anxiety.
Lots of other vegetables, fruits and herbs do this as well.

Whole fruits and vegetables shouldn't be overlooked or underestimated.

Other benefits of celery juice~

Contains powerful antioxidants and cancer fighting compounds

Heals and activates the gut by restoring hydrochloric acid

Lowers cholesterol

Natural anti inflammatory

Lowers blood pressure

Aids the liver

Improves digestion

Fights infection

Alkalizing

Highly nutritious

I'm using celery juice as an example but when I read about all the positive effects of fruit/ veg on the mind/ body it encourages me to keep going. It is seriously amazing how many benefits you receive.

Hi all

Glad you liked the chocolate smoothie MM. Can't take credit for it though or anything. I addapted one of Jason Vales recipes by adding the spinach and coconut water. I was wanting more ways to eat more greens yet still satisfy chocolate cravings.

Um think one of my favourite smoothies would be this one. And both my husband and son like it too.

Frozen pineapple

Organic frozen mango

Handful of organic baby spinach

Lime juice

Coconut water

If I am able and funds permit, I buy the organic frozen mango as it just tastes better and sweeter to me. Also buy organic spinach (until I learn to grow my own) as the other is often sprayed with pesticides.

The women on Instagram... Are you talking about Jen from simple green smoothies? Anyway she is running another smoothie challenge starting on the 1st January (United States time). Hopefully I will be able to do it again. Its free. She sends you a guide book via email with 10 smoothie recipes in it. And all the instructions on how the challenge works. And if you want you can play bingo.

I have drunk a smoothie with cauliflower in it before, I cannot remember if I liked the taste. Properly did. I have not had any with pumpkin. Though I have juiced raw sweet potato.

Hi Shell,

Yes, Jen's the name. I saw that smoothie challenge advertised on her insta.

Your fave smoothie looks yum. I will try that one as well.

So you've had one with cauliflower. I'm guessing you probably wouldn't even know it's in it. I think you're a seasoned healthy juice/ smoothie drinker compared to me. I only really started the journey 17 days ago.

This morning I had a smoothie with berries, banana, baby spinach and coconut milk. And today I have my fruit/veg juices to drink.

I'm yet to use sweet potatoes to any juices.

Have fun doing the smoothie challenge. Let us know how you go.
