🌱 Diary- 5 Things You Noticed in Nature Today

Guest_1055

Can you think of 5 things you noticed or observed in nature today, using all your senses?

I was wondering if this would be a beneficial exercise to help us focus on something else instead of painful emotions, troubled thoughts, over thinking, anxiety feelings and the darkness of that alone place.

As well as to see that there really is beauty all around us....

Hi,

Shelley, thanks for creating this awesome thread.

I find listing and noticing things in nature helps ground me 😊

- warmth of the sun

- (mostly) blue sky

- chirping birds

- warm air

- sound of the wind

Hi Dottie,

So glad you are finding this thread helpful. I often hear the chirping birds in the morning outside my bedroom window. Just beautiful....

Today

1..... tasted the tomatoes in some homemade soup.

2......smelt the faint scent of coconut in a carton of coconut water.

3....felt the wind blowing my hair

4....saw some white seaside daises growing near a fence

5... heard the birds

I'm guessing this is a mindfulness exercise? Well I need the practice, so here goes:

1 ..... I tasted the nutty flavours of toasted muesli for breakfast this morning

2 ..... I smelled the aroma of basil as I brushed against the bush on my way to collect the newspaper

3 ..... I felt the hot steam from my morning cuppa tickle my nose as it wafted

4 ..... I saw heavy dark clouds forming on the horizon

5 ..... I heard the rain on my tin roof as I went to bed last night

Today I visited a beautiful garden and saw the following:

- a tiny duckling in a pond

-glorious roses of many colours

-bees on a stem of lavender

- a drop of dew on a rose petal

-tree reflections in a small lake

Hey Taurus, Oh fresh growing basil smells delightful. That has to be one of my favourite herb scents. I also just like hearing the patter of rain hitting the tin roof, it has a calming sort of cosy effect on me. And one of the things I smelt today was:

1......a small bunch of basil, all ready to go on some homemade pizza.

2......the taste of some sweet grapes, but a few yucky ones too.

Oh Mrs D ( hope it is okay to call you that), I also saw a rose, this one has a rain drop on it. Little ducklings are so....so cute.

3......I saw Taurus profile picture of a soft looking rose, with a few drops of water on it.

4.....I felt and heard a slight crunching sound this morning from the chia seeds in my breakfast.

5.... I also saw a cute yet concerned little dog tied up waiting for its owner to come out of the shopping centre.

Hi Shelley anne,

Mrs. D , Dools, Doolhof or anything similar is fine. It isn't my real name anyway.

Today I noticed the clouds drifting in the sky

Different shades of green in the plants

A tiny lizard running for cover

One of the chooks having a dirt bath

My gold fish looks quite fat!

1. The light rain so soft you don't even feel it landing on you.

2. My beautiful roses starting to bloom,

3. Birds making there own special tune

4. My veggies growing allowing my children to pick them fresh and eat them.

5. The rocks on the path glistening with the sun. My daughter calls them fairy dust leading us to the car.

Today I took my dog for a walk before then taking her in to work with me, and I:

1. Heard the whoosh sound of a model aeroplane as it whizzed overhead doing spins and tumble turns,

2. Saw my dog curl up into a contented ball alongside me while I worked,

And tonight I utilised some of my beautiful gift box that a lovely friend sent me, and I:

3. Tasted the tropical fruit and citrusy flavours of the white wine

4. Felt the luscious oozing of the chocolate as it melted over my tongue

5. Smelled the aroma of my new potted lavendar plant

So between the two mindfulness exercises I managed to cover all 5 senses. Tick for the day. (-:

Hey Taurus, Excellent work! How are you finding the Mindfulness training?

These are yesterdays noticings:

-Butterflies in the garden

-Beautiful colours in the sunset

-The smell of a freshly opened banana

-The satisfying sound of thistle stems cracking as I tackled the metre high beasts

-The almost black colour in an iris

Shelle-Belle, it's been too long since I caught up with you. Bumping into your posts around the forums, I am happy to see you are still dispensing your own brand of quiet wisdom and trademark hugs. I hope you're OK...and seize the occasion to embrace you in a heart-felt hug.

Today I have taken a leaf out of the dogs' book and followed my nose to an unknown, subtle but attractive scent. Unlike the dogs, it took me quite a while to find where it came from...a vine with small jasmine like flowers hidden deep down a gully, winding its way upwards.

I noticed rain drops scattered among tufts of maiden hair fern. Filtered sunlight gave them a stunning iridescent glow.

I listened carefully to figure whether the sound of rushing creek water had increased, decreased or stayed stable since yesterday. I scooped a palmful and savoured what water should really taste like. The raucous screeches of recently hatched magpies demanding to be fed was deafening.

I felt the sting of nettles on briefly exposed skin in the tiny gap between sock and trouser leg.
