Can you think of 5 things you noticed or observed in nature today, using all your senses?
I was wondering if this would be a beneficial exercise to help us focus on something else instead of painful emotions, troubled thoughts, over thinking, anxiety feelings and the darkness of that alone place.
As well as to see that there really is beauty all around us....

I was struggling emotionally today, so I actually had to choose to notice things.
1. I purposely bend down and smelt some roses that were for sale outside the Coles supermarket.
2. I tasted the taste of cherries, as there were some frozen ones in a smoothie I sipped.
3. I heard quite a few dogs barking in the neighborhood. One started, then many others followed all with there distinct barks.
4. I saw how green the leaves were on the baby spinach.
5. My feet felt the wet grass, as I walked over it out front.

Hi Shell. Sorry you had a bad day yesterday. I understand, as I did too. You suggested on my thread that I do this mindfulness exercise, and you're right .. I should. Its pretty difficult, but here goes.
- I saw the first light as it peeked through the venetian blinds a little after 6am this morning
- I heard the sound of birds outside my bedroom window earlier this morning
- I smelt the fragrence of a red rose I cut from our garden yesterday wafting up to my nostrils as I walk by
- I felt the comforting warmth of Holly's body as I held her close during the night
- I tasted the faint saltiness of tears as they escaped down my cheeks and into my mouth

- I felt my husband rub my back to calm me and last night and help me fall asleep
- I heard the late night freight trains passing in the distance when I was wide awake
- I listened to the pattern of my husband breathing to try and calm me
- I heard my finches chirping when the light filled the lounge room
- I felt Poochie pawing me in the morning to wake me to give him his food hehe

Hi Sherie, I am sorry you are struggling, and I know you are. I have left hugs for you elsewhere, but here is another one for you to pick up here.
Here is my list for today.
1. I saw one large ant walking across the concrete.
2. I purposely smelt the the large knob of garlic, which was on the kitchen table.
3. I felt tears in my eyes, when I read that dear Sherie was crying and also happier tears that Emmy is blessed with such a very kind hubby.
4. I heard a rooster crow extremely early in the morning.
5. I tasted another mandarine

Hi Star
I just read over your lists again. You have such an interesting life up there on the mountain with nature all around you. Even inside your shack. So why do you leave your door open, if you don't mind me asking? Is it for the dogs to walk in and out? I have heard that dandelion tea is meant to be good and also putting a few dandelion leaves in a smoothie. I was trying to imagine a fly catcher bird fluffed up, possibly from the rain, just sitting amongst paper. I don't even know what that bird looks like, so in my imagination it was a tiny white bird. And are you warmer now?
Hope you are OK
Love
Shell xx

Can I do this on a -2 day, let's try.
- I saw cows relaxing on the ground under a tree in dappled sunlight looking quite content whilst roadside grazing.
- I smelt a field of lavender.
- I felt the water of the river around my feet as I sat on the jetty with a multigrain vegemite sandwich and coffee.
- I heard the wind rustling the leaves of the river red gum trees and the calling of the Kookaburra.
- I tasted the approaching storm front moving in from the west.

2. I felt a couple of weeds in my hand as I pulled them out from the garden .
3. I saw a mixture of all different fruits and veggies in that section in the supermarket.
4. I tasted potatoes.
5. I am purposely smelling the lavender, that is in a glass jar near my bed.

Hi Shell, Hi Rob. Hope you're both okay?
My five things today are:
- I heard the sound of a jet flying very high overhead
- I felt the soft feathers of one of my budgies this morning when I took a treat out to them and he jumped onto my hand for a little pat
- I saw a couple of goldfish in our boat-shaped fishpond swimming around in the morning sun apparently oblivious to a large bird watching intently from a nearby tree branch
- I tasted the yummy flavour of a red papaya at lunchtime
- I smelled the earthy aroma of damp soil as I scraped a hole in the garden for a geranium cutting

Good spotting of the goldfish swimming around Sherie. How big is the boat shaped pond anyway? And thank you for asking after me dear Sherie, I am OK 🙂
For today
1. I felt the soft sort of spongy texture of some mushrooms as I was cutting them up.
2. I saw a kangaroo springing right across this trail I was walking on.
3. I tasted some fresh orange juice
4. I heard an unusual rustling sound in the park/bush, and looked closer to see it was a black crow with his beak and a lot of his head inside a large foil packet of "Smith's potato chips". He was OK.
5. I smelt onions.
