It's like a feeling just bubbling up to the surface. It's panicky and disgusting and I dont' know what to do with it. There's no thoughts associated with it. It's a feeling. A really gross one. I called the Suicide Call Back service. I didn't find them helpful. What do you do? What helps you?

Hi Katy,

I'm going to be irregular here for a bit, but I hope things are going OK in WA. It's incredibly quiet here, going down a main street the ships and cafes are open but almost empty of people. A gorgeous day here.

How is Stormy? Maybe the heat is tiring?

There's a great article in the guardian online about the clothes we wear during covid as people are back staying mostly at home again - it seems pyjama pants, thongs and a singlet are the go for everyone. I feel so much better! You get so slack about your appearance when you aren't going anywhere day after day!

Also a scientific article saying covid peters out after about a meter spread, meaning mask wearing and distancing and not staying long in one place indoors is pretty effective. 👍 Virtually impossible to get outdoors unless you are very close to someone.

Good luck with the thesis! Franzen's Crossroads is superb so far he's very funny!

Keep well over there. Oh and in Germany you can but Rats from public vending machines everywhere like you'd buy a can of coke. Brilliant idea, why can't we think of that! None are available here!

A lovely day here too. I tried shopping and our shelves are bare. It depressed me and I’ve gone back to bed. It just all looks a bit grim from here on in. I’m happy my son had his Pfizer and tolerated it well. I see my gp in two weeks. I’ll have to be careful for awhile. I’m glad to hear outside is pretty safe. I’ve ordered some P2 masks as well. And hey, at least the shelves weren’t bare of chocolate!

Funny about the “covid uniform”.

It’s good of you to let us know you won’t be on here as much. Everyone uses the forum as they need, which is understandable, but good that we won’t worry. So thanks.

Glad your book is enjoyable. I’m happy with my stack but always wish I could afford more lol. I think I have about 80 on my “want to read” list.

Feel worried about my kitties today. The heat has been pretty relentless the last few days and today they just slothed out and I kept checking to see if they were breathing. They’re both so skinny these days too. Not sure how long they will be able to cope with this heatwave. 10pm and still 31, so not even an overnight break. Poor kitties 😞

Oh you poor thing... of course you are worried about them... can you wet them down or would that stress them??... if you lightly freeze wet food (& they will eat it) that can help them stay cool... or freezing individual sardines as treats (as long as you don't mind if they spread sardine juice everywhere)...

Kitties are usually smart enough to find the coolest spot to lay down... unlike our doggies (or maybe that's just mine)...

Hi Katy,

The heat over there sounds terrible. I wonder if you could use a spray bottle to spray especially their paws and tummies with a fine coolish water spray (not cold), if you don't have one they are in the aisle with detergents in the supermarket. The heat is hard for animals and no cool nights are super exhausting.

I hope the heist ends soon, I think we will get some of it during this next week unfortunately but it isn't reaching your temperatures.

I've just read that WA is staying closed for longer, that's a political move against the federal govt and I think very sensible, I wish nsw hadn't let this rip we were much happier with Gladys running the state.

Stormy seems to be coping ok. Too hot for walking, but sometimes we can get a swim in in the evenings.

Kitties didn’t want dinner yesterday, unsurprisingly. The girl cat ate this morning, and after I wiped the boy over with a wet flannel he did too. Thanks for that tip. He’s the more fragile one. The girl seems to go find a spot she likes to snooze, but the boy doesn’t. The vet confirmed last visit that he doesn’t have much eyesight, so maybe that’s a factor.

35 already and not even lunch time. I’ll keep up the flannelling today!

Hi Katy

Is it the virus that is bothering you? You have an outbreak in your area I think.

It's really strange at first and scary but you get used to it, everyone is in the same situation and everyone gets anxious. After 2 years here now people wear masks indoors and out, it's all become the normal here, lots of people wear better masks now and in the shops some wear face shields and you don't really think about it too much now, but yes it's wierd for a while until you adjust, and you will be surprised how well you manage!

I think it's a help that everyone else is going through the same process.
