Hi ladies,

I am 41 and have many symptoms, sensations... I have recently been diagnosed with Anxiety/ mild depression.... but leading up to this diagnosis I had many symptoms, changes going on. I have just opened this thread in the hope of some advice of any other women out there that may have had similar symptoms/sensations or are able to tell me their stories.

I stopped the pill 11 months ago, since then my monthlys only last 3 days. My breasts are constantly sorer. I get period pains 1-2 weeks before my actual period. I get light headed, palpitations, mood swings, bloated, lower back pain, chest, neck, shoulder pain. I am a mystery... least I feel I am.

I was told by one Dr that I was oestrogen dominant, another Dr told me I wasn't.....

anyway, very confused. I look forward to hearing from any other ladies my age to see if they have similar things going o.

Hi Busybee,

Welcome to the forums.

I'm not a doctor so just take this as my opinion only. I believe that if you've recently been diagnosed with anxiety/depression and are taking medication, these could be side effects. It takes some time to the body to get used to the medication, and sometimes you have to try with different meds until you find the right one for you.

Are you seeing a psychiatrist and are you on meds? He will be able to talk to you about the side effects.

Hope this helps!

Hi Candombera,

Thank you for your reply.

I am not on any medications. I am doing the wellbeing course thru 'Mind spot clinic', and I speak to a therapist there.

I am only on supplements as my Dr told me my Zinc and Vit D were low.

I take magnesium, zinc, Ostelin (Vit D), Curcumin, and Dan shen ( chinese herbal for palpitations).

🙂

Hi Busybee,

Thanks for clarifying. I've never heard of that course. Is it good?

So not too sure about what should be causing these symptoms... hard to believe the supplements or herbs have anything to do with it.

Have you tried consulting another doctor?

The course is great. I found it through this web site. There is a thread regarding the wellbeing course.

I have been to numerous Doctors.

Very frustrating....

🙂

Hi and welcome,

i am perimenopausal and had similar issues. My estrogen was high when I had my hair, ones checked. I was experiencing what you are then this year I didn't get a period for about 6 months. Hot flushes were constant, anxiety up, feeling not so great. All of a sudden my hot flushes stopped and I felt premenstrual, then About 3 weeks later I get my period. I am taking vitamin b complex, c, d and fish oil. You should look into vitex and Macca root powder.

you are not alone.

Thanks so much for your advice.

I will look into those things.

🙂

Busybee - is it worth going back on the pill and seeing if the symptoms settle? For women under 50, hormone imbalances are frequently treated by being put on the pill. If it settles the symptoms then it's likely hormonal, if it doesn't, then it's likely anxiety.

Just as a curiosity, did the doctor test your thyroid hormone?

TA

Thanks for your reply,

I would prefer to stay off the pill now, as almost a year since stopped it. I do feel my symptoms are worse though since being off it..

I have had my thyroid tested. The hospital said I did have some antibodies there that may suggest thyroid disease further down the track. I will be getting it re tested in a cpl weeks.

Cheers 🙂

Thanks for getting back to us Busybee.

May I ask why you are not keen to restart the pill? How long were you on it for?

Are you being treated for any other health problems? Have you had any other investigations?

If it is perimenapause, it can be a frustrating time. Do you remember if you got any of these symptoms before you went on the pill? Perhaps these symptoms are your "normal"?

I hope things settle down for you soon.
