Hi Del
Thete is an element of truth to what you day. Some people want fun, only fun and as soon as their friend shows they are fragile your friend goes missing. So annoying isnt it.
But thise people were never real friends to start with. You need to focus on nicer, kinder people.
What I do to stop crying is distraction. Find something to do.

Del , I have days when I just want to cry all the time but I don't. When you want to cry do you cry or do you do other things. Is the need to cry overwhelming ?
Real friends accept you in all moods crying or being happy.
It is awful feeling lonely but I am glad you have reached out here to this safe place.
Take care
Quirky

Dear Del, I know the feeling, I've been through it many times. When we're depressed we naturally feel low and worthless about ourselves and we think we are not loveable. But that is just the nature of the condition. People who really care about us would stick around in the bad times and offer support and still love us when we're down.
Depression is a self sabotaging illness, we are our own worst enemy. Our mind is telling stories to ourselves which are far from the truth.
I want you to know that you are a loveable, valuable human been and deserve to be loved even when your depressed, especially when you are down and not coping very well.
I've read your other post and I'm glad that you find this forum helpful already.
We are here to be your friend

Hi Del1971,
I too know the feeling you are experiencing, it is a very tough cycle to be in, we have all these emotions inside of us and we want to express them and sometimes feel through our friends is the only way. Have you tried talking to a family member first? Having a good support network is great but there is no size limit it has to be, if you have just one then you are doing great.
You will find these forums very helpful I think as I think you already have and feel free to post back as much as you like as well, this is your thread now and we are here to support where we can.
My best for you,
Jay

Hello Del
I dropped by to see how you are going. You didn't tell us much in your first post and I am wondering if you would like to continue chatting with us. It's good to have a safe place to talk about your thoughts and feelings without being judged by anyone.
All of us who post here have a mental illness of some sort. Mine is depression and I would rather do without it. Sadly that's not an option, so the next best thing is to accept I have this condition and learn to live my life as fully as possible and learn to manage the depression.
I see a GP regularly, a psychiatrist and counsellor. They each have different roles and I find it amazing how much their support and care helps me. I also have a circle of friends who are supportive even though they do not have depression. They trust me that I feel this way. Mostly though we simply talk about the things that interest us which is great. We need a rest from counselling.
I have retired from full time work and now volunteer my services in various ways. I don't know how old you are or if you are working and I wonder if volunteer activities may help you. There is something very satisfying in helping others. Happy to talk more about this if you would like.
Looking forward to your reply.

Hi Del π
I too have had many times that I just can't shake the need to do same. Crying's a pain & stress release which needs to be outta the bod otherwise it manifests and makes our mental state so much worse in so many ways.
I cry a lot with mental pain (physical too when it's extreme) and really do know exactly what you're talking about, it's like another level. I say let it out. Like the saying says, "better out than in", exhausting but needed imo.
I've also found tiredness brings on stress on top of other which contributes to exhaustion too but recently thought it's not such a bad thing cause if it's taking us to this point at least it's an out. Our bodies finding a way to release even if a temporarily reprieve.
Agree with an above post about a lot of people only want the goods in us the fun side. Ok we all do really aye but if people aren't wanting to be there in our hard times, are they the ones that we wanna be around, chances are you'd be there for them. Maybe a solution to that could be don't invest fully in them with your entire friendship and concentrate more on finding people that care about your whole self not just parts of.
Loneliness is very under rated unfortunately, it's cruel, I've been there and kinda there atm, hard to explain.
I over the yrs did door to door and it was then that I saw just how many people are desparately lonely so I gave them time and chatted sometimes for quite some time. I love a chat too but they needed even if it was just for a small section of their lives.
Do you participate in any activities, sport, clubs, cards, outings etc, surprising where we meet people who spend however long in our lives but can make a positive difference.
Good you're here and talking & as you can see there's a lot of care and support here, so you're no longer alone, you have understanding and good people that wanna help you through this.
Do you know why you feel so low? Hard to figure out at times but can be valuable in order to figure out how to rise above it.
Go for it talking here, no one has a go they just wanna help and do understand pain.
Try not to be too hard on yourself Del π
