The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.
The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.
Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...
So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...
Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open
At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay
At the BB cafe

Good evening everyone 🌙 anything going on at the cafe tonight? it seems a bit quiet
Mekitty, I surely don't like loud thunder noise, and those thunderstorms outside give me anxiety as well. 🙂 Wish you and Fiatlux a happy thanksgiving! (am expecting all the nice food you going to bring here!)

Well you what... Happy Thanksgiving to us all and why not?
Thinking about Thanksgiving and Harvest Festivals, it occurred to me that my Mums church and culture also have a Harvest Festival. I stumbled across it in Melbourne of all places. It is on the last Sunday of August, which is the end of the European summer. I happened to attend a Sunday Mass at my mum's church and it happened to be the Harvest Mass. It is the only time that bread and wine are shared. It was really good bread (not wafer). An amazing lunch was served afterwards in the church hall. I learnt that the Harvest Festival is to give thanks for the abundant harvest and this "Thanksgiving" pre-dates Christ.
This Thanksgiving I will prepare a spit roast. Suckling Piglet and Saltbush Lamb and Jackfruit and Pumpkin for the vegetarians.
Dessert are amazing too... my mum was the best baker and pastry maker. Sour Cherry and cream cheese strudel is my weakness.
Please add and bring to the table your own favourite things to feast on...

Jackfruit? I've heard of it, but don't think I've ever seen it, muchless know what it tastes like, how to prepare it -nothing. in fact, about it.
Thanks for the good wishes, OTR, but I don't actually celebrate Thanksgiving now, given the way it was sold to us when I was a child. Now I look upon it with a huge dose of cynicism.
Today the heat is turned up & outside it feels a lot like Summer. So, today, I've had a favourite summer lunch of an Egg & lettuce sandwich, which I've added some dukkah, which I bought from Coles, & a little of the olive oil dressing I had made a few days ago. I am happy to see it seems to keep well, so there's one dressing I like.

Hi everyone,
I have had buckets of rain dumped on my place this afternoon. Very loud, but not too terrible.... hope others didn't have damage from the storms goving over.
Maybe it helped that I was trying to write something, & didn't want to b distracted, that made it not too bad, or that I didn't hear a lot of thunder... it got very dark, so much so the insects thought the sun had gone down.
Yes, lots of salad, Fiatlux & all, but dear Fiatlux, although I appreciate what you said about foods not necessarily needing cooking, I am going to cook my potato, or sweet potato, or pumkin - I haven't decided yet....very sooo, I must decide which, because it is after sunset, now.
I could have a little of all three, eh?

Good evening everyone, how's your night going?
A bit odd that the weather's still a bit chilly in my area, but summer has already arrived🌞 sunset times are getting quite late.
Mekitty, glad you enjoyed your sandwich. I haven't had a single sandwich for a long time, I've had pies, banh mi, and ramen for lunch recently. There was a time when I ate a sandwich for lunch every day. Smoked salmon with cheese is my favorite but it's expensive😂
What late-night comfort food can we have here?

Good Morning Everyone and OTR...
Who was up at 2am only to find that they couldn't sleep at 4am when they needed to. The adrenaline kicked in after the Socceroos Win!
Banh mi is my absolute weakness. It really hits the spot when I need something to satisfy all my senses. My local bakery does a fantastic one for $6.00! The best comfort food whilst still being healthy.
I did have smoked salmon with cream cheese on a toasted bagel and dill just this past weekend. It was worth it.
I don't have many late nights and try not to eat after 8pm, but Barbeque shapes are still the best snack.

Hello OTR, Fiatlux & everyone & anyone! All are welcome here, at any hour & any day.
Your favourite snacks are always fresh & ready to eat.
I just realised what time it is - & asked myself, what am I doing cooking enough for a whole meal at almost 10pm (Qld time)? I only wanted a snack, feeling like having some chicken, but now I went & added broccoli & potato into a pot, & am making a quick soupish dish, which I will snack from, & keep the rest for tomorrow.
It was like a winter day, here. The wind was from the south & so cold! I was wearing my jumper all day. But this evening it is not so bad, but I still want sleeves & my long jammie pants.
I was supposed to get my new chairs today, but they let me down.
Tomorrow ought to be better. I hope so, because, now, I am supposed to get my new chairs tomorrow, shortly after lunch.
Keep well,
Hugzies to anyone wanting them,

Another quiet night in the BB Cafe?
Sure would be nice if someone would pipe up & say 'hello'.
I'd give them some popcorn.
Tonight I have made some cinnamon, mixed in the butter & I use stevia sweetener. The butter is only to try to make the cinnamon & sweetener grains stick to the popcorn. I think more stuck to the bowl. Still, tastes very nice. [Grinning LRC]
Tommorrow looks like being a very enjoyable day outside.
After taht, though, it's hotting up for the rest of the week, I think - maybe longer! May be an occasional shower too = humidity. I don't like the sound of that.
We'll see; sometimes the BOM don't predict things quite as the weather will do.
Into December, so I think some decorations are in order.
I've found some pretty paper, & am going to make some paper chains to hang up across the ceiling, meeting wherever there is a lght fitting, joining them all up in a mass of triangles, looking like a fishing net up there!
A very pretty fishing net, for catching wishes? So we can call it a 'Wishing Net'? AT night, when the lights are switched off, we let the wishes out into the world. All the best for everyone!

Hello!!! says Paws piping up
mmMekitty - I love your idea of making a wish net from the paper chains... you clever kitty cat...
It was hot here all weekend with the added bonus (not) of high humidity today... I'm hoping the BOM is right & the temp will drop from tomorrow... Woofa & I have spent most of today on the couch under the cooling... only 173 days until winter... but who's counting 😆
I do like popcorn... but cinnamon..... Erghhh 🤢... Paws shudders thinking eww yuck, almost as horrible as cloves... I think I will pass on sharing... thank you very muchly for offering anyway.
hugs
Paws

Ha, Paws! I just knew someone was here, somewhere.
This place must be insulated with unpopped corn kernels, so there's heaps still to be popped. You can fill one (or two) popcorn making machines, & add whatever flavourin you like, & make some for Woofa, too, if you do't think he'll have too much trouble with the bits that get stuck between teeth.
Online shopping today, & I noticed some dog treats with chicken, turkey & cranberry in them. & then I saw some cat food too! Bothwet & dry food varieties with cranberry. Expensive, but I bet Mekitty would have liked the dry food, at least.
I can't credit some things I come across while online food shopping, one brand has a small pack of dried cranberries, for $9 (@ $90 per kilo.) Far out!
I was trying to stay up a little later tonight, but my legs have other ideas. I'm sure glad I tried, or I would have missed you, Paws., & Woofa's nosebops. Sorry, most of all, the nosebops!
C'mon, Woofa, one more for nigh'-nights?
mmMekitty
