The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.
The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.
Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...
So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...
Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open
At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay
At the BB cafe

Good evening🌙, how's everyone going?
it seems like we still haven't got into summer yet at least in my area, it's still chilly recently due to the rain and storms. I would like to have a cuppa warm chai latte 😊 in the early morning at the BB cafe. Are we opened in the morning??

Hello Everyone….
Geoff, I do hope you’re feeling better and your treatment is working…Our hearts are filled with good wishes for you’re recovery…..Please do take the best care of you that you can, I have said many times, that one does not have to meet another to form a friendship….You have a lot of friends here that love and care about you so much……gentle soft hugs dear Geoff…
I like to eat healthy…I like your soup recipe, using frozen vegetables is a great thing to do, I do the same because as vegetables are seasonal it’s a great way to enjoy what isn’t growing in season….Well done mmMeKitty…
I’ll sit with you On The Road and have a Chai Latte with you….I make mine with Almond Milk…Let’s just sit and watch the sunrise, On The Road…it’s a beautiful thing to do, watching a new day being born..
Tuesday felt like summer, Wednesday like Winter and today like Autumn….3 seasons in 3 days😂😂😂..hard to know what to wear when we have to go out….I wonder how the creatures cope with it…
Okay…so today I made some popcorn….One is air popped without anything added for those who are eating healthy….the other is my favourite, popped in melted butter with salt added into the melted butter 😁…naughty I know, but it’s not like I have it very much, maybe twice a year…plenty of both varieties for everyone, just take your pick….
I bought in some Christmas decorations for our beautiful cafe…along with a huge fresh pine tree, the smell of pine is to me both refreshingly beautiful and calming….not to mention Christmassy..There is a huge box filled with colourful shiny balls, tinsel of every colour, Christmas shaped decorations, Santa’s, reindeers, snow flakes, let your imagination go wild….Did into the box and see what you can find to put on the Christmas Tree, which I’ve put in our lounging area…have fun everyone and please let us know what you found in the box of Christmas decorations, then enjoy placing them on our tree…
Hugs everyone…
Grandy..

Hey Grandy, see you ar getting into Xmas early.
When I was young, my family used to make plain popcorn & thread to make popcorn garlands for our Xmas tree. Sure they would go stale hanging on the tree, even though we didn't begin putting up the tree & decorations until Dec 1. The garlands of popcorn were not intended for eating. So, instead of eating them without salt or butter, or anything, can I make some garlands & put them up on the tree, please?
Sunrise at BB's sounds really good, with just a little chill up here where I am. Since doors are always open, & we have comfortable outdoor dining sets, or lounge if you prefer, by all means - everyone is welcome anytime, including you, OTR.
How are you, OTR?
Indeed, odd weather. Hot Tuesday, down a little yesterday, down again today, & tomorrow, then it looks like the temperature will be swinging up again, to mid-30s by Monday - like rolling hills on a graph, I imagine.
If I am going out, I decide what to wear taking into account, if I am going to be spending a fair portion of the time in air conditioning.
Oh, look, I found a 'Festive Penguin' for the tree. It's rather jolly, but like a snowpeson, with its beak painted orange, a glittery green & red scarf around its neck, & a black top hat, with a glittery red & green hat band & it's holding a long candy cane in the tips of its wings, looking for all the world like it is about to dance. Hehe, that's a real special 'Festive Penguin', eh?

Hello Everyone…..🤗.
I have heard before about the popcorn garland but never seen one….I have a beautiful picture in my mind of little children sitting around of popcorn and treading some cotton to join them….while they are giggling away when the sample the treat…
I am lucky where I live…across from me are the mountains in the far distance and when I’m feeling up to it, I love to sit on my little pink chair with a cuppa tea and watch the sun come up….it’s extra beautiful when their are clouds hanging out in that area because the sun does gives them a gold outline…
Im really sorry that I brought the Christmas Tree in to early, I watched “A miracle on 39th Street” and felt warm and Christmassy…..I spend Christmas alone and on Christmas Day…not so Christmassy to me….
I did dig around in the decorations box, and found a glass ball with a red ribbon on top..inside is a picture of a jolly Santa, standing next to Rudolf, who’s nose is very red and shiny, both are standing under a lovely little Christmas Tree…..
mmMeKitty, I love the ‘Festive Penguin” 🐧..it sounds so bright and happy….Who can’t resist a little penguin in a top hat 🎩…..thank you for looking inside the box…even though I’m a bit early…
Hugs everone…🤗

Hello everyone,
Grandy I don't think you brought the tree in too early... (the shops in big town have been selling Xmas stuff since early September, now that is too early...) Xmas isn't that far away, we need time to rummage through the magical box of Xmas decorations or too make our own... plus we need time to enjoy them once they are all up
mmMekitty I love the Festive Penguins... they sound so cute...
I think I will set up in the corner of the cafe that overlooks the pond a craft table for those of use who want to sit around together chatting whilst we make some simple decorations... there will be coloured card or paper & coloured tissue paper, paper plates, balsa wood sticks, tinsel, glitter, coloured crayons, pencils, textas, white ping pong type balls of many sizes, ribbons, cotton wool... whatever you want... let your imagination rip.
I found some glass balls that were round snow globes with lots of different bears... a brown bear sitting with a beehive full of honey that it has broken open & it has honey dripping all over it's snout & paws... a black bear laying in a blackberry patch obviously having eaten too much... & a polar bear with two adorable little cubs.... I will have to rummage some more... there are lots more bear types to be found.
Hugs
Paws

Hi Paws, Grandy & everyone.
Xmas beginning in the latter half of November is fine for me, too - a really happy surprise, you know.
Here in Australia, we don't have to wait for Thanksgiving to be over before getting into Xmas. I can't get into all the feasting either way... too much for me, now my hollow legs have filled in.
I thank Croix for giving me the idea for 'Festive Penguins' this year. If I could really produce them, I would - whatever configuration comes to mind.
Paws, your Festive Penguin is on the drawing board, & some engineers have been consulted. Not done yet, so please be patient!
My parents let us get away with eating a little of the popcorn, but not enough to have the tree inadequately covered.
You could try stringing some popcorn for yourself, Grandy. If you don't know how to make popcorn from popping kernals, you can buy some ready-made & use that. Just thread your needle & poke it through a fleshy part of the pieces of popcorn & keep going! Make sure you have a pretty good length of cotton on your needle, or you would need to tie short lengths together. You can even use the brightly coloured popcorn, for a very pretty effect.
But, you know they might be eaten by little beasties in the night... You know what? I never thought about that before! Oh, little beasties, getting up into the tree, amongst the branches & nibbling on the popcorn... if I use imaginary popcorn on an imaginary tree, it'll be alright, even staying fresh enough for me to eat.
I know Xmas/New Year is often lonely for many of us, so it's good we have BB when we feel the need for some sort of contact.
BB Cafe does not close for any public holidays, either. [LRC smiles big cheesy-like]
C'mon, Woofa, wanna nosebop with me ? ... when you finish nosebopping Grandy;s furbabies, that is.

How time flies, Mekitty, Paw Prints & Grandy, it's almost at the end of the year, and the whole surroundings are getting festive again! Will we have a colder Christmas this year, because of La Nina? 🙂
It was a rainy & windy weekend again, I actually felt quite comfortable that I don't need to endure the usual high temperature on a regular sunny day, so far.

Yeah, OTR. I won't mind if the weather is cooer, if the humidity is lower too. It's those severe thunderstorms that get me nervous.
Yesterday arvo, we had aone of the 3-minute showers. with thunder. After the rain, it seemed to be clearing up all around me,, but I could still hear thunde, as if from the next suburb away. That seemed just plain eerie.
In the morning, I am preparing my lunch & dinner salads, or one lot is small for making a sandwich for lunch, while the other is for dinner. I think I may as well, because I keep overestimating how much of each ingredient to cut up or grate for one salad. Why not make two salads with the same base ingredients? I can always add meat or egg, or potato or pasta, vary things up like that.
Tonight, I want some salmon.
I've been spending some time investigating what is in the breads I might buy. Woe, I thnk, because they add sugar to them, & too much salt, too. Even the one I like to buy, though not the worst, is still not without added sugar & with more salt than I think necessary. Maybe noamount of added salt t is necessary
Anywhay, it's going to be very difficult to find a better bread.

Good Morning All,
Glad to hear that some are preparing for Christmas. We officially start Christmas on December 5th which is Saint Nicholas day. That was the day that we were allowed to put up the tree.
I personally do not feel very Christmassy with the colder rainy weather. My daughter in the USA has had light snow flurries but it’s predicted to be colder with heavy snow for their winter. I know that I shouldn’t complain, but when is our summer starting?
My daughter has Thanksgiving this weekend which she is really looking forward too. So much yummy food with the blessings of the Harvest. She is attempting to bake her first sweet potato pie.
It has motivated me to roast some vegetables to make a warm sweet potato salad.
Have a great week, wherever you are today.
Go the Socceroos!

Hi Fiatlux. Please, tell your daughter, I'm wishing her sweet potato pie will be beautiful & delicious.
I think colder weather would still make it feel more like Xmas for me - I still think it ought to snow.
When our family arrived in Australia, my parents tried to carry on our American style holidays. Our new Australian neighbours didn't get it.
We used to do the whole feasting thing, even inviting some people over, but these occasions were not as successful as a good old-fashioned BBQ, outdoors.
We weren't following any religious protocol, & so began Xmas on Dec & entirely finished on New Year's Eve, by carting out the tree & cleaning up the pine needles.
When I was young, we made decorations, like Grandy mentions doing. (Somehow, I missed out on reading the last two paragraphs of your post, Grandy, from last Thursday). We used coloured paper, glue, glitter, scissors, tape, & coloured pencils, oh, & cotton balls, for Sant's fur trims, & beard, & snowmen, too.
We also kept some from past years & put those up. Every year some would be broken. Then new could be bought. Our tree was absolutely covered!
Happilly, an organisation I am a member of is having an Xmas celebration this year, in mid-December. I can have my support worker with me, too. That will make things easier, & more relaxing for me. I may even win a raffle! So, I'm looking forward to that.
