The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.

The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.

Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...

So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...

Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open

At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay

Hi all,

Just wanted to drop in and say hi to see if anyone is around.

Going through some heavy stuff, that I won't go into in the social section but just feeling a bit lonely.

Hope all is well with everyone!

Welcome Whatsinaname, I hope you find the forums a supportive space!

Just as you're arriving, I'm leaving for a while lol. HIGH FIVE!

Hey BB Cafe goers, just thought I should drop a note to say I'm leaving the forums, not sure how long but know that everything is going GREAT for me and my family here.

I need to pursue things elsewhere, businesses, family, friends, renovations lol!

SO I'm wishing you ALL the very very VERY best of what life brings!

Love you all
EMxxxx

Hi Em,

I barely knew thee!

Sounds like everything is going well for you so congratulations!

Hey EM, all the best to you & your family & friends, while you are away.

Hope you have a wonderful Xmas, (if I don't see you around that time of year), & please, accept my gift of a Festive Penguin, dressed as an elf.

Hugzies, for all, including the possums.

Hi again, Whatsinaname. I've caught up with you here, too. [grinning LRC*]

I'm having salmon & salad for dinner. What would you like? I've plenty of salad ingredients, & the penguins have caught some salmon, barramundi, lobster & prawns. Does any of that sound any good to you?

Just ask, anything's possible here.

I am hopeful you will find the support & people you feel comfortable talking with, here on BB.

Any questions? Don't be shy about asking.

Paws grumble for the day ☹ :-

Who moved Victoria to the tropics???...  Grrrr... Whoever it is move us back south...  I definitely do not like living with all this humidity... nor does Woofa!!!

hmmm I wonder if I could borrow some of those pesky penguins to tow us back south... 🤔😄

ok grumble over

I hope everyone is having a nice Saturday (minus humidity 😉) I'm having a slice of fruit cake with a cuppa & Woofa is beside me chasing something in his dreams... I know far too much excitement here... lol

It's me! I made some soup this evening, & Woofa doesn't realise just how little meat there is in it!

I'll tell you, what I did to make my Green & Orange (is that Irish Soup?) Soup:

I made it from frozen broccoli, pumpkin, sweet potato, spinach, & some grated fresh potato, with some cream of chicken soup & a little stock powder. Cut up the vegies more, (leaving the spinach aside to drop in at the last couple minutes), then break the vegies up using my little chopper bowl; these vegies go into a pot, with water enough to let them cook long enough to cook the grated potato. Then I stir in the chicken soup, then when that is heated, I drop in the spinach. The heat in the soup soon melts it, & the soup is ready to eat. I made enough to save some for tomorrow. Note: I added no more salt than what was in the chicken soup & the teaspoon & a half of stock powder.

It tasted pretty good, but I know that soup has too much salt. Maybe the stock too, if I am honest & don't make excuses for buying any more of these highly processed foods.

Sadly, my tomato soup will also have to not on my shopping list either. Salt & sugar content is too high.

I am getting a lot (although not as in depth as I would like) from "Magda's Big Australian Health Check".

I especially like how the GP Magda Szubanski spoke to, explained how the food industry is doing things very much like how cigarette companies have done, in their efforts to sell us product they know VERY well is no good for us. I'm going to hang onto that, just like when I got good & cranky at the producers of cigarettes when I quit them. Thinking how much we are manipulated by food manufacturers will help me a lot when I am shopping, or even out & want some lunch.

A new 'mantra', if you like, for me, is: just keep moving.

If only I could get exercise while sleeping!

Many thanks to those who have wished me all the best, your thoughts are so very much appreciated.

Love Geoff. xx

Sorry for all the rain in other areas. Here, where I am, it's getting hot, with bright sunshine outside. I'm so glad I finally have the ceiling fans to use.

Hi Cafe Dwellers,

Hope everyone is well, safe and dry.

mmMekitty, so glad that you share your recipes and cooking tips. I second your dissatisfaction with the food industry. The manufacturers of processed foods have been getting away with making us sick for a long time.

As a migrant, my parents always had a vege garden and we never had processed foods. Even cordial was a treat for us. Like all kids we complained about the food. It did us good in the long run and when my children came along I also steered clear of processed foods as much as possible. I skip entire isles in the supermarket. So many unnecessary ingredients. Sugars are my worst enemy!

Although the weather is cooler today, a nice leafy salad with tuna is on the menu for lunch today.

Have a great week everyone!
