The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.
The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.
Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...
So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...

Hi everyone,
I found some Frozen Jackfruit & some Frozen Edamame today. Who was it here, who knows about preparing & eating these things? In particular, I didn't get good google results about how to prepare the Frozen Jackfruit.
I think I'd like to include these in my Xmas meal plans. I've never tried them before, so a little advice would be really helpful.

Paws, I finally have your Festive Penguin. It's a levitating sleigh, with a Santa Penguin & by some magic, there is a little Woofa adored with antlers & a bright red nose, steering the sleigh wherever he wants to go! It's so pretty, with streams of glittering sparklets, likes ribbons, flowing from Woofa, along the sides, down the belly of the sleigh, & up over the top, streaming behind for at least a metre! I hope you enjoy the Festive Penguin zooming all around your home, in & out the windows, & doors, too. Listen out for when the Festive Penguin calls out "Ho, ho, ho!" It's so small & quite, maybe only Woofa will hear, so whenevr he suddenly lifts his head, maybe it's the Festive Penguin greeting you.

Hi everyone,
I hope everyone is well this strange Monday. Is it really mid December already? I am having another 4 Seasons in One Day, kinda day.
mmMekitty, since the Jackfruit is frozen, try thawing a small piece and try it raw and decide what it tastes like. I have had Jackfruit sliders with coleslaw. It did taste like pulled pork. It resembled pulled pork and can be cooked like it too.
Yesterday, I attempted baking my own Low Carb Gluten Free bread as the commercially produced loaves can be heavy. It turned out pretty good, but the bread mix recipe requires 4 eggs and milk, so it’s more cake like, but savoury with seeds. It still doesn’t have a nice crust through.
mmMekitty, good luck with the jackfruit and let us know how you go.

Good evening everyone, how's going?
Not feeling well recently, my nose is inflamed and I have been having nosebleeds quite often...
Maybe hayfever? 😐 I'm also having headache
Speaking of jackfruit, I know what it is but I forgot if I had it before, probably my mom gave me this when I was a kid. It does resemble pulled pork, but it is not the only fruit that has this kind of similar texture I reckon. I had various kinds of tropical fruits when I was young lol, one perk of growing up in warm places.
I like the idea that using them as pulled pork for vegan burgers.
Saw peaches come out cheap in market now, happy to buy several kilos lol

Hello all,
OTR the pollens are awful this year...it is possible your nosebleeds are from hayfever... but if you are getting them often I think a visit to your GP might be a good idea.
Oh Kitty I love my Festive Penguin... especially the sparkles... though I'm a bit nervous about the mini Woofa having control of where it goes... if he is anything like my Woofa, he will once he picks up speed, he will forget that you need to apply the brakes before you reach where you want to stop... hopefully the magic will stop any dints in me or my walls.
The winds here have been horrible the last two days though thankfully not as bad as the cell that hit Sydney... do be careful everyone if you have to be out & about in this weather.
Hugs

Hi Fiatlux, OTR & Paws, with thanks for hints about Jackfruit. I would very much like a meat alternative, or other ways to get the protein in some portion of my meals.
I also discovered frozen Edamade too. I think I will need more room in my freezer!
& yes please, I'd like some peaches too, only I'm not sure I can freeze them & if they would retain their texture.
Fiatlux, maybe play around with the recipe, less egg, more water, perhaps? Maybe don't use milk at all? I'd add some herbs to it, too.
Hugzies, all,
mmMekitty

Hello all,
My thought for the day... I've come to the conclusion that wallabies have much more road sense than kangaroos...
Every time I spot a kangaroo at the side of the road they panic & decide to leap away by crossing the road in front of me... they even get half way across & then try to change direction & go back... more by good luck than anything else I've not collected one... but the lovely little wallabies that live around here don't panic... they just wait by the side of the road... even if they do want to cross the road, if they see a car they wait until it has passed them before crossing...
So road sense: Kanaroos 0/10 Wallabies 10/10

Mmm, wonder if anyone has done any actual scientific research on the subject of Road Sense in the Australian Fauna? How does the road sense of Australian fauna compare with the fauna of other countries?
I can tell you, now, Penguins, wherever they are found, have no road sense, because, as far as they are concerned, roads don't exist, & even when a vehicle is zooming towards them, they think they have the right of way. They go wherever & whenever they want, kinda like puppies, eh?

Hi everyone,
Paws, I agree 100% about kangaroos, when they see a car coming how strange it is for them to run towards if….I have had many occasions when this happened to me…when they are close to the car, they really are huge creatures…
I made, egg in a hole tonight…with multigrain bread…haven’t had it since I was a young child, I remember my grandma would make it for me, when I stayed at hers….my grandad would always ask my grandma to cook the centre’s taken out of the bread to be cooked up as well….then he would put them on top of each other putting jam between each piece and tell me that they were special cakes….😁….I bought heaps in if anyone wants some….
I can’t believe I fell over one of my dogs last night…and she had to be the tallest dog…got a few bumps and lots of bruises, strained muscles everywhere, so I think I’ll just rest up in one of those soft looking recliners I see over near the windows and just look out at the beautiful lighted up Christmas Tree that everyone’s been decorating….The twinkling stars covering the sky look amazing, framing our beautiful tree, with the moon just sitting a little towards the left of it….the soft gentle sounds of Christmas Carols playing on our juke box, it makes a really peaceful setting…..much better then TV….Hmmm now I’m all settled into the recliner, with my weighted blanket.…I think I just might spend the night here…🌕✨🌟⭐️😴😴😴😴

Ggrandy I have seen weighted blankets at the op shop but I know people who have tried them but they didn’t help. How does a weighted blanket help me.

I think I'd prefer the egg in a hole for breakfast. Multigrain is the best. [grinning LRcC], & of-course, toast up the circles! I'll put some garlic butter on mine.
I'm enjoying my new recliner chair. Oddly, though, I haven't actually fallen asleep in it. I'm thinking , now I would like to try to use a microphone & tell my computer what to do & to dictate what I want to write, from my recliner, or while walking around my room, exercising, at the same time.
Hi Quirky! I prefer the lightest of blankets, or maybe leaving my little bed socks on. I don't like the weight on my feet, but my feet need to be warm. Also I don't like to feel in the least way restricted under my bedding. I only tuck in the bottom end of the top sheet & blankets, & sometimes I don't even do that. My winter blankets are polar fleece, because they are both light & warm.
If the night gets warm, I may have a sheet just over my feet.
However, as an LRC, my fur is all I need!
So, call out if you need anything - I'll be either up in my hammock or on the pool table.
All the twinkling lights sure are beautiful. Yes indeed.
I've coiled a some large paperclips, to make these silver jingle bells into tree ornaments, you see, with one end, through the loop on top, closed so I can't fall off, & the other end twisted to form a hook to hang the ornament by. Sorry the spring I made doesn't boing-boing. Wrong metal I suppose.
