mmMekitty,
My parents also threw amazing news years eve parties, mostly through the social club that we were a part of. The best one was inside a large circus tent that was setup on the football field. I live within walking distance of that social/ sports club. I can’t honestly say that I have ever had a good news years eve party since 1986, although I did spend the 2019/2020 New Year’s Eve on Day Dream Island. That was pretty special.
I am sure I will be spending the night alone with the TV fireworks. Peace to all 🙏🏼

Hi all
Your stories remind me of my childhood also. My parents also threw NYE parties at home. All our relatives, the neighnours. We had city views & at midnight would stand on tge corner of our street to watch the city fireworks. As I grew older wd had parties at a friend's house then at ours. Last few years were at my partner's but now we've split I'll be home with my young daughter, happy to do nothing. I don't care. I will be so glad to see the end of 2023.

Thank you kindly Paul! Wishing you and everyone else a wonderful 2024!
"These Dreams' by Heart brings back nostalgic memories. There was something so idealistic and uplifting about many 80s songs. It makes me think of 'We Belong' by Pat Benatar, 'Time After' Time by Cyndi Lauper and various others. I was just a kid in the 80s but so glad that music was the soundtrack to my childhood. I loved Nik Kershaw, especially his song 'The Riddle'. And although people laugh at me because they think it's corny, a favourite song of mine was 'Your Wildest Dreams' by The Moody Blues. Then there were the classic Talking Heads songs. 'Once in a Lifetime' and 'Burning Down the House' are awesome for zany dancing. And 'Ashes to Ashes' by David Bowie at the very beginning of the 80s. Perhaps I will have an 80s listening extravaganza tonight!
And then I just thought of 'Video Killed the Radio Star' by the Buggles. I adored that as a 5 year old. If you want something fun, there is a live version of it on YouTube of the band performing it in 2004!
Happy New Year All! 🎉
Hugs,
Eagle Ray

Despite feeling empowered by spending NYE alone I am feeling sad & lonley. Just crying & wanting it to be over.

Hello everyone
Hey, hey, Paul!, who has staked out his place as the most mature fellow here on BB - re: '"4th century", believe it or not, I'll be chasing Iron Butterfly In A-Gadda-Da-Vida ....
Nah, not really. I've noticed SBS has a Billy Joel concert on tonight & after, to take viewers into the New Year, they have Kenny Rogers ... I doubt I will be up for that - not without coffee.
Oh, imagine putting together our own BB Playlist! Some wonderful songs being included - brings a smile to my face.
But I'll only have AC/DC because it would be my patriotic duty or if we get enough votes to include more than the one token song. ... & which song would that be? Good question. I'll get back to you next year.
Hugzies
