Whew! Thank you for understanding Paw Prints.

I'm not having a go at those who go all out for Xmas either..really I'm not. Nor have I been a wet blanket or negative and spoiling the excitement and fun for my grand kids...of course not! I joined in all the "magic time" with the kids and helped make it memorable when they were tiny.

My annoyance could partly be because I "know" the media very well...how it works, what works and what doesn't...that allows me to see through all the garbage, knowing that the very people who are writing the stuff and compiling the ads are quite aware of the effect they have on vulnerable consumers.....in fact, it wouldn't surprise me to learn that some of the TV presenters with all the tinsel and Xmas trees surrounding them on set at the moment....trawling their way through all the sugar-coated sentimentality.....scream "I'm sick of all this crap!"...when the cameras turn off.....

Do the Beyond Blue forums work on Christmas Day? I'm definitely going to be alone, so if we're able to post it would be nice to say hello to anyone else who is spending the day alone.

Hi Everyone
Hey Hanna
The forums are on 24/7 365 days a year!

Sometimes we get a reply right away and other times we dont for while...

Thanks blondguy - and yes I'm getting more used to the site and how it works!

Thought it might be nice if those of us who are alone on Christmas Day had somewhere to say hi to each other! Cheers!

Hi everyone! New members please let us know if you like or dislike Christmas and what you are up to!

Hey Hey Moon!.....I get it...no worries there!...and as you mentioned I am probably the odd one out as Christmas doesnt bother me anymore after I had my chronic anxiety alleviated by a legend of a community mental health worker...Sure it can be a pain in the rump....but why do 'some' mums stress so much when shopping compared to 'some' guys?

Hey PawPrints!....You are spot on about the greed factor ($$$$) from our major retailers this time of year and as I posted to Moon...Its a pain...I understand where you are coming from

PawPrints mentioned "There is something magical in watching a young child seeing Santa or seeing that the reindeer's have eaten the carrots left out or finding presents under a tree" This is why I appreciate Christmas....Children should have some 'magic' in their lives......Nice1 PawPrints!

Hi Matchy69....thankyou for helping out on this thread topic....Especially with Christmas being a day of mourning for you. I wish you a peaceful Christmas..Respectfully yours

so many amazing people....

my kindest

Paul

Hi all

Whether you enjoy Chritmas or not, I can relate to how you feel I have had ups and downs with Christmas over the years. I like the spiritual meaning. I emphasise to my little one it is about the birth of Jesus , not presents.Of course we still do gifts but I like to think of that as a way of showing gratitude to my loved ones for the year past, For having them in my life.

I do like the 'magic though for kids. I think it's nice for them to have that excitement.

For those who may be alone, yes, coming to the forums together is a great idea. Pls k ow you are not alone here, you will be in my thoughts.

Dear BlondGuy...your question why "some Mums" get all stressed while Xmas shopping rather than "some blokes"....could be that many women care "what other people think" and blokes "couldn't give a stuff".....God I love men!!

Just a note on woman getting stressed on buying presents,my ex wife is the worst at being stressed buying presents and she still text me when she is shopping for ptesents even asking my advice on what presents she should buy her parents.

Well BlondGuy...not long to go now and I will be released from the bondage that is the pre-Christmas pressure......my countdown has begun!

re your question in devising this thread "What are you up to?"....I don't recall seeing you explain your own plans for "the day"..so What are you up to?..........love, Moon S
