Hey Everybody! Christmas is the time of year to enjoy & share with family & friends. Some people will spend this time alone & isolated too!
This is a safe place where people can post and say hello, chat or send wishes to others and have a 'Virtual Christmas/New Years'!
Whether you have plans for Christmas/New Years or having a quiet one you can kick back and just enjoy company of others. Its been a long year. Even if you have never posted on Beyond Blue before you are very welcome to come in and sit around our 'Virtual Christmas Tree' and chat 🙂

I think its wonderful to have all the new members here as part of the forums.....combined with all the gentle support offered its a caring place to be.

Many of us find Christmas a difficult period and its comforting for new people to find others that experience the same

What does Christmas mean to you?

1. Nothing....( thats fine..there is no judgement on the forums)
2. Trying to do the right thing by everyone but its difficult and still feel lonely and stressed
3. Doing your best to help the kids, a loved one or family members (or non family too)

For me its #2

It feels very inclusive and is a reminder that there are no cliques here, we're just all here together muddling along best we can and supporting one another.

In answer to your query, it is definitely #2 for me.

Not looking forward to Christmas, filled with feelings of sadness, irritation and obligation all in probably equal measure.

HI Everyone,

Today in the Op Shop where I work one lady asked if I could set up the boxed Christmas trees so she could see what they looked like. I set up two, both 6 foot high. One was too skinny, one was too bushy. She asked if we had lights and decorations I could put on them to show her how they might look decorated.

I told her sorry, no we didn't, but she could buy the slightly smaller tree already decorated and on sale, but she didn't like the decorations.

A slightly smaller tree had a base she did not like, we suggested how she could cover that up with ribbon of her colour choice or even some material. After about 1/2 hour of suggestions nothing suited.

Made me think that next year I might set up a business where I go to a person's home with a van full of various Christmas trees, lights and decorations and for a fee, decorate a tree for them in their own home. Charging them by the hour!

As it is an Op Shop we don't have a department store full of goodies to suit everyone! Hopefully the lady is able to find something suitable for her home in time for Christmas.
