Hi Everybody
Does anyone know what 'eggnog' is?
Its huge in the United States at Christmas.....Its a traditional Christmas drink to get the festive season off to a great start....
- 3 Eggs
- 1/3 cup caster sugar
- 2 1/2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup of dark rum
- 1/4 cup of brandy
- 1 cup thickened cream
- ground nutmeg, to serve
It serves 4 but obviously more suited to a white Christmas 🙂

Hello NMRN
Welcome to the forums and thankyou heaps for posting on our Christmas thread too 🙂
You have a big family! I understand where you are coming from where the stress levels are concerned.
Its just impossible to please all the people all of the time.....not to mention frustrating too!
Please be gentle with yourself and dont feel awful for staying at home this year....I am one of many people on the forums that will be doing exactly the same as you.
There is no guilt or shame in flying solo at Christmas....You are actually being really kind to yourself by doing so.
I used to have chronic anxiety for a long time followed by depression and Christmas can be a massive step when we are not up to it
I understand and respect where you are coming from. Our health is paramount.....I will be having Christmas with my rescued dog and will be spending time with my brother and sister when I am comfortable doing so
Please dont feel awful at all. If you have the time you are more than welcome to post on this thread as many times as you wish or create your own individual thread topic too 🙂
you are not alone here
My Kind thoughts for you

Although Christmas is a painful time for me, i went out shopping today and found lots of nice decorations and bits and peices.
Helped mum and the kids put the tree up and make the house look Christmassy, I'm sure T would of loved what he did. He was watching us.

Hi Everyone,
Paul, thanks for the eggnog recipe, I had wondered what was in that drink!
Welcome to all the new people sharing your thoughts and stories here.
Sometimes I find it easier to catch up with family before Christmas, that way the stress of actually being together playing happy families on "Christmas Day the 25th" doesn't seem so difficult.
Jackson, it is wonderful you were able to enjoy the sense of Christmas you experienced.
Maybe I could do a little Christmas decorating here this afternoon, bring some cheer into the house! Play a few carols, have a little eggnog, fruit mince pies, pavlova...mmmm sounds like a plan!
Cheers all from Mrs. D.
