Hi everyone, This section of the forum is a little different to the others, as you may have noticed in looking around the threads. Elsewhere on the forums, we discuss some pretty heavy topics: mental health issues, thoughts of suicide, trauma, abuse, relationship breakdowns. Here is the place to come to get away from that and have a bit of fun. Distraction can be an important tool to draw on if you're finding yourself overwhelmed by distressing thoughts and feelings. As this is a section for respite from difficult topics, we will remove posts made in this section that attempt to discuss personal issues. Please use a support thread in the appropriate section for these discussions. Happy posting!

Hello everyone Wanted to give a shout out of epic proportions today and I really hope others will feel able to join me... Geoff I hope this doesn't embarrass you... You're always quietly working away supporting others and searching for posts without replies or that others have found difficult to respond to. ❤❤❤❤❤ A massive THANK YOU to our friend Geoff For your 10,000 (well 10,008 now actually) posts on the forums helping others. This deserves recognition because you are part of the glue that has kept the forums running for so long. I for one value you and what you have given to others freely. Congratulations Geoff. ❤ Nat

I'm not entirely sure how apt a discussion this is for beyondblue, but in the spirit of communication and reaching out which is encouraged, I thought I would write post up, get a few opinions or thoughts. I should say, I'm tired all the time, especially in the mornings, it's very hard to get out of bed and think about the day that I have to face. I've always attributed this to the kinds of dreams I have - more like nightmares, really - and being an active sleeper, thus not feeling rested in the morning. This is no matter how much sleep I get. I get these really vivid dreams, and almost always they feel too real to me, that when I wake up it's hard to let go of the memory. They can be traumatic and stay with me the whole day. And if I'm not distracted enough, sometimes without thinking about it, I'm re-immersed in the dream, and I can picture myself in it all over again. Like some kind of virtual reality. And it can get so bad that I start getting anxious that when I get older all I'll remember are my dreams and none of my life. I really don't want that. The dreams can get so bad that I question if I'm awake or not when I am awake. I guess that in itself should be a clue that I am awake, because I don't really question my reality in my dreams. And sometimes, I just don't want to sleep, though I'm thoroughly exhausted, because of what I may dream - and this can make it worse possibly? I've spoke to a GP and relaxation was recommended to me, but according to people I know, I don't really know how to get rest. I'm just wondering if other people have this issue? And if so, how they cope?

Hello all, I have noted that there are a few readers on these forums. And, at the times we find it a struggle to read, we at least like the idea of reading. So, I thought I would start this Book Club thread, whereby we first throw out some genres, come to a consensus and read for as long as it takes us to read. No pressure. And should the whim take us, we can start discussing said book on here. How much we all hate/love that character. The feels the book is giving us, etc. Plus, a good excuse to take us out of our heads and into someone else's, even if it is fictional (or perhaps not?). So, my genres: A particular favourite is historical fiction, and next to that is post-apocalyptic/dystopian fiction. I read the classics, fantasy, philosophy and science books. And my version of a quick read is something with adventure with a bit of history there (come full circle), and maybe crime. I have never got into law based fiction books. But law based non-fiction I can do for some reason. Anyway, that's me. If I think of anything else I'll let you know. I have a "To read" list, and if anyone wants whatever is on there, let me know.

I love how everyone here is so helpful to one another, even if something someone says isn't directly helping, the thought is still there and that can help people mentally. The forums are void of any sort of discrimination (even if that's sort of what happens with anonymity). May not be much, but i'm very happy about this website and how everyone is sincerely nice and doesn't fake it. (proves that people can be nice to someone they don't know without knowing much information about them. Thankyou mods and users for making this such a wonderful place and i hope that good comes to all!

Out of nowhere, a thunder storm of blue sunlight, green rain and golden fire. The grey haze was washed away, shadows splattered with colour. Rhythms of concrete melt into silence, except for the constant beat of drums. The Earth heaves back into existence, the sun strokes my skin, the breeze kisses my face, and softly it whispers into my ear... "Have you been waiting for me?".

Our homes are the most obvious bubble. We create these personalised artificial bubbles designed to block out everything in the outside world. We don't spend much time in them though, because most of our time is spent preparing ourselves to travel in another bubble that we drive to a different bubble... that we we don't really want to be, but that we need to spend time in to pay for the less time we spend living in our personal artificial bubbles (except for the sleep that we need for enough energy to go back to the bubble we prefer not to be in). In our spare time, we sometimes visit friends bubbles, or go out to eat in bubbles, perhaps even go dancing in a bubble. But most of the time we spend our little free time in our own bubbles. Occassionally we travel somewhere for holiday for a short time to get away from the artificial bubbles we don't want to be at and the personalised artificial bubbles that we spend less time in because we spend too much time in the other bubble. We do this by taking a bubble, to catch a flying bubble to a totally different location where we check into a bubble. Then we go out and look around at all the new sites occassionally eating at an expensive bubble, or shopping for gifts in trade bubbles. We don't really go outside of the designated bubble areas designed specifically for foreign visitors though, or interact with the locals outside of vendors in any way or really explore these locations outside of the tourist bubbles designed specifically for people like us. Eventually we catch a bubble back to our personalised bubbles again and tell our friends how wonderful the experience was in the tourist bubbles, and show them bubble pictures. And soon after fall asleep in our bubble, to get enough energy to drive our bubble back to the bubble we prefer not to spend time in, to pay for the personalised bubble we spend less time in. ... it's a bubble life.
